JJ, it seems you have kepot trying to solve your issues instead of just throwing the project out the window. I commend you for that. Instead of waiting hours for a reply here, why not come by the #reprap IRC channel? We would be happy to answer any questions we can.

This thread has caused a lot of concerns about Arduinos. My intent of this thread was not to damage sales of any company in any way. I only wanted to know whether the Arduino I had was original or not. After seeing the reply from the Arduino co founder (I hope that is legitimate, and not someone just using his name), I feel that I might have caused problems for the seller I bought from. I apologi

Before you sell it keep in mind that marlin has an auto-pid feature. Just run it for 5 minutes and you have the values you need.

What are you clicking on to make the command pop up? You need to open marlin.pde from inside Arduino IDE.

So you installed the arduino IDE, got the latest marlin source from the site: then set the settings for your machine, and uploaded it to the board? You got this far, installing the firmware is one of the simplest things to do.

What type of bed are you using? PLA has strong adhesion to cool temperature blue painters tape.

I recently bought this online, but I'm unsure whether it's an authentic Arduino.

I've been using it for a couple of prints and it is exceptional. It had no problem connecting to RAMPS 1.4 + Marlin, and the new GUI is so nice it feels like cheating to use it. Absolutely stunning.

That's a new idea I haven't seen around before. Most lasers work perfe

Thanks for seeing it the way I do DeusVis. I'm not trying to be your competitor and I was offering an honest review of the parts, I see nothing wrong with that. I don't consider this to be a marketplace to make money honestly, all I want to do is increase the number of RepRaps in the world so the community becomes more active. The only reason I bought from you is because I wasn't sure if my buddy

Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
There is a forumla floating around to calculate instant bonding between layers. The trick isn't to raise the heatbed temp or even printing faster, but actually raising the extrusion temperature of your hotend. An increased temp will partially re-melt previous layers and induce instant bonding. I would recommend doing that in a well ventilated area though, as high temperature nylon releases some n

I bought a green Prusa Mendel set from you about two weeks back, I'll write a review for you once I receive them.

Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
Thanks for pointing that out. I think having a minumum of 1Kg should be fine incase something goes wrong (power outage? In The Netherlands? Hasn't happened in years.) unless people want a multicolored machine, in which 2 spools of 500g would be enough to cover the parts.

Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
I'll give some of the ideas above a shot over the weekend, thanks.
If it starts to tell me "I'm sorry Charlie, I'm afraid I can't print that.", it's going out the window.

Firmware - mainstream and related support
Thanks for your replies, that would work to a degree. I guess having the voice of a russian lady saying "Operation Completed" is a bit beyond the scope of a normal RepRap.

I use Repetier host because of the Slic3r integration and the beautiful 3D view. It's great!

Hello community members,
I sell parts printed on my Prusa Mendel, but I handle things a little differently than other sellers. Please read on to see what I mean.
You, the buyer, chooses ANY color filament from ANY seller in the world in the color of your choosing. You want a glow in the dark Prusa Mendel i2? You can have that. Or maybe you want a golden MendelMax? You can get that as well.

Wouldn't that only have effect if you turn on a "second" extruder in your firmware?
Also, are there any specifications for the LED or does it not matter?

Those "variables" are gcodes that you can send to your printer to do specific things from your host software. Just open configuration.h and modify what is needed (motherboard, steps, etc). It may be overwhelming now, but it gets a lot easier when you get the hang of it. Also, Marlin has an auto-set gcode command for setting PID values which saves time.

From this eBay seller:
It seems their price has gone up by $20 or so.
The board is not genuine Arduino but it works just fine.

Matmo,
When you download the Marlin zip file, you will see a folder (named Marlin) inside, along with a README file which explains what you need to do to customise it for your machine. Load the marlin.pde file into the Arduino IDE, make your changes, compile it and then upload it to your board of choice if the compilation finishes successfully.

I'm not sure what you plan to do with the printed parts, but remember that PLA is a biodegradable plastic that will degrade over time if used outside. I also wouldn't use it to store any liquids for an extended period.
