I saw Trinity Labs had them
Not sureI am ready to drop $100 on them.
I did however pick up one of their little stepper motors with attached delrin gearboxes though.

You paid them $15 for an STL? Ouch...

3D systems eh....
So our choices are the blood suckers at 3D systems who have done more in recent years to hurt the expansion of 3D printing than help...
Or the blood suckers at MakerBot who want to close source their products built with our open source ideas...
We need a RepRap Community flavored STL sharing depot.

Crispy,
I sometimes doubt there is enough activity here to warrant a general forum page as it stands.
I herby invoke your honor, and demand a nice print picture.

Fast lead screws seem like a sound idea if the service life is long enough

I am curious as to the RepRaper (...plural RepRapai?) state of the union. I thought it might be fun to explore the printing quality the average 3D printing hobbyist is achieving nowadays.
Here is a print I made last night:
Print Stats:
3D Model (STL): Yoda Lite by Faberdasher
Filament: "Christmas Green" PLA By RepRaper
RepRap: RepRap Pro Huxley (Though Heavily Modified)
Hot-End: Custom Made

Good Day All,
My original RepRap Pro Huxley setup (644 Melzi Board) has a horrifying affliction.
Sometimes, not always, upon connecting to a host program (such as Repetier) the hotend will rapidly build temperature to dangerous levels.
This is completely without input. The host program will even display the absence of a set temperature; but the temp will sky rocket.
I am not sure what is cau

Synchro mesh looks pretty cool
I use GT2 Belts and they stretched on me over 3-4 months.
Are they done stretching? Maybe?
Would I prefer a product that does not stretch at all? Certainly.

Are there any adapted Prusa esque designs using fishing line out there?

unfortunatley, from the video I can't really tell how the fishing line goes through the tensioner or how it is being tighter with a screw driver

Is the printed clamp used in that video there as well?

Where are STLs for fishing line motor and idler ends? (As seen in that video)
Those could be used on any RepRap.

I recommend a kit from RepRap Pro. After doing one kit, you will have a much better knowledge for "scratch building" repraps. Plus you will have a printer on hand to help you do it.

@Droftarts That belt application looks cool. It looks like they are going out of their way to compensate for traditional belt problems

Belts are just... missing a certain je ne sais quoi
They just don't really feel like a GREAT idea... They work... But do they work great?
I suppose it depends on your definition of work great.
But man, when trying to calibrate the movement of a hot-end within sub-fractions of millimeters belts just leave much to be desired.
I know that belts are cheaper than a lot of fancier solutions... but

and good call on the pi cases John. I need a pi case for myself as well now that you mention it
I could see the value in cutting printer sets. I think i like the idea of cutting extruders even more.
It seems that there are not an overwhelming number of folks with RepRaps that also have access to laser cutters. I have not been able to gather a consensus on what peop

Hi All,
I would like to get your input.
What are the best printer (or even independent axis) designs out which do not use belts?
I am weary of stretching, sagging belt slop decreasing my print quality over time.
I have been considering trying to custom build a rack & pinion Rostock or i3 Prusa; but before I go off trailblazing on some wild tangent, I thought I would see if anyone else is

Thanks much for the well wishes I will post on any cool developments
I believe the 4th Gen FSL Hobby Cutter had a 10,000 hr tube life. I read on the FSL forums that the 5th gen tube was manufactured according to requirements they put forth.
Now that you mention it, I could use a filament spool for my upcoming RepRap build
