I think we're in a state where real inovations in DIY 3D Printing have become quite rare. All those 'new' DIY 3D printers share the same technology everbody in this community is already familiar with. The difference is the marketing, that's all. Imo, the current inovations are made in software (e.g. slic3r) and materials science (accessing warping/curling issues). Does anybody know something abouvon thetenter - General
I always printed ABS on pure glas but the first layer really has to be squashed on the glas. After warping problems with complete platers I've chosen to try out the Kapton Tape above the glas. Best results ever. It needs some force to remove the parts after they're finished but this is a small trade off when u have perfectly flat parts. Another solution is to mix ABS and Aceton but it's quite annvon thetenter - General
Do you use the two large washers to guide the belt on the idler? I had exactly the same problem some months ago. The y carriage was smooth when moved by hand but the frictions between the washers and the belt caused always missing steps. After I added a second bearing and removed the washers from the idler, I never had this problem again. Also check if the tension of the belt increases as you movvon thetenter - General

After 9 months ABS printing I was switching back to PLA and altough I have a heated bed it just didn't want to stick. Simple solution: Clean your bed with Aceton and it will stick again perfectly In case this doesn't help, see Bob's postvon thetenter - RAMPS Electronics
Grussvon thetenter - Extruder, Hotends & verschiedene Materialien
I'm having the same problem with PLA. How did you get rid of it? The strange thing is that with ABS everything works perfectly. But as soon as I'm switching to PLA there's just a big mess in my infill section (tried temperature between 175 and 210... nothing worked) I got even worse results with coloured PLA... Thanks a lot for your hint to use slic3r! It's a reeally great software=) thanks andvon thetenter - General
I cant get nice bridges... what are good values to start with? sprinter, ramps, feedrate 120, flowrate 100, layer height 0.25mm thanksvon thetenter - Skeinforge
Hatvon thetenter - Software
My setup was: pc -> ubs -> arduino (without the shield) -> 5V pin (arduino) -> 5V pin Ramps (i.d. arduino works as a 5V power supply) and 12V power supply directly to the Ramps for the steppers. everything worked fine, but as I tried to replace the 5V power supply from the arduino with a normal 5V power supply the stepper wasnt responding at all. (with a 5V outputpin from the db25 thvon thetenter - Controllers
This explains why my test with the parallelport and the arduino (plugged in) failed. My ramps electronics are now working pretty well with mach3 and db25 communication. The only strange thing is that I have to get the 5V from the arduino (not plugged in to the shield).. I tried it with 5V from the DB25 as well as 5V from a external power supply, but both setups have failed. Any issues?von thetenter - Controllers
well with the advice from nophead I got some voltage on the coils of the stepper, but it is way too low and the steppers don't move. For some reason the 5V inputs from the DB25 are just 3.2V when I plug them in.von thetenter - Controllers
@nophead: This explains alot I'll try it asap and let you know if it works. @ danielramos: If I understand your post correctly, you search for a firmware working with replicatorg and RAMPS, right? I've used the Hydra-mmm firmware together with its host software -> works fine, but you have to change some codes (pins etc.). Recently I tried the 5d firmware for RAMPS (https://github.com/ramps/Fivon thetenter - Controllers
no I didn't, do I should? I plugged in the 12V from the power supply and an output pin of the parallelport to the +5V pin of the shield. Pin 2 (DB25) -> Pin 28 (X_dir) Pin 3 (DB25) -> Pin 26 (X_step) Pin 8 (DB25) -> Pin 24 (X_enable) (set to HIGH) ->nothing at all..von thetenter - Controllers
thanks for your advice. I also thought of an EMC2 and extruder board combination. Maybe I should follow this idea. There's just one thing I don't understand. If I use the pololu shield without an arduino and try to send signals from Mach3/EMC2 via DB25 connector to the correct pins on the shield there is no reaction at all. My idea was that it shouldn't matter if the 5v signal was sent by an arvon thetenter - Controllers
