I have also found this and rarely print in ABS anymore.by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
There is an M code in the config.g file. I'm sure someone else will know off the top of their head which code. It might be M92.by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
I have some stringing issues but nothing i can't live with. I print at 235 with bed starting at 115, but this quickly drops to 100 and won't stay any higher. I've been looking at upgrading the heated bed method to a mains voltage and SSR bang bang system. But as usual it hasn't happened yet. Definately have a lot better results using ABS than PLA once the trial and error stage is over with.by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Quotejy_oc_hx Its reportable under the heading of "supplying explosives"! Link here. It is a bit over the top. Sadly, it is not over the top. Explosives made from acetone and another widely-available substance were used by terrorists in 2005 to kill 52 people and injure another 700, in London. I wasn't meaning it was safety gone mad. What i was getting at was the fact that i couldnby jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
Quoteshadow651 Quotedmould Quotedc42 Buying anything but tiny bottles of acetone from retail stores in the UK is next to impossible now, but acetone can still be bought in reasonable quantities via eBay and other internet or mail order outlets. I guess the difference is that the security services can identify you as the purchaser. You have made me curious, I wasn't aware that acetone was used inby jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
Quotedmould Buy few litres of acetone - it has several uses with ABS. Dave Sound advice. I will second. Although if you are in the UK you may have trouble buying it in large quantities as it is a controlled substance. I have found it for sale at the pound shop near where i live in 150ml bottles.(£6.67/l)by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
QuoteEuropa I would love to hear from other Ormerod users who have been successful. I have been successful with this without having to play about with the voltage on an Ormerod 1. Steps were as follows Make a wind break, i just made a cardboard one. This protects the heated bed from drafts. Make sure the insulating layer underneath the heated bed i has a good seal all the way round. Use ABS slby jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
Spacing the parts along the Y Axis (from 0 to 200 not from 200 to 0) should allow you to print all 4 sequentially as stated above. Make sure you don't set it to home axis at the start of the sequential prints.by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
I have had this but the printer is in our office and it only occurs when we don't leave the room heater on low over night. I have come to the decision that PLA doesn't like how cold our office can get.by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
The case looks brilliant. 100x better than my rough and ready cardboard attempt. Not sure about the fans and air intake though because this will cause a draft and I personally wouldn't be able to keep the bed hot enough to do ABS prints. If my nozzle fan is too low i can't even get the bed to 110 deg c. Very interested in where this is going though. Keep sharing updates. Probably put the intby jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
Excellent. I'd never thought to check this out but when i have looked you can see the layers splitting. Definately going to print this once i get some more filament Thanks. Just an FYI the cylinder head screws are called Cap Head Screw. Cylinder head screws are mostly associated with the automotive industry.by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
Quotejstck I printed the hinged extruder without even realizing the need for supports, and while it came out really ugly, it actually worked wine after filing off some crap and drilling the hole. I was going to print a new one with supports added in the .stl file (together with some other changes), but whatever I do Slic3r doesn't like my file (finds 10000+ errors and have some surfaces missing).by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
Quotedc42 1. Mechanical? I don't think it can be belt slippage or a stepper motor missing steps, because there are no permanent steps in the piece. Looking at the photos of the ends, one side is more or less vertical, the other is not. A quick check for this could be to use several different slicing engines with as close to the same settings as possible. 4. Cooling? Could it be that in the seconby jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
I think you can use TetraHydroFuran or similar and vapourise it in the same way you would use Acetone for ABS. But i'm definately not a chemistby jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
To find the point in the gcode file where the layer changes isn't as hard as you think. You know your layer height (0.24mm in my case). So you know the height of the second layer (0.48mm) Open Gcode in notepad. Click on the top line. Press ctrl+F. Type G1 Z Select direction down. Click find next until you see the line G1 Z0.48 Insert your custom temperature line above this.by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
I have gone a little further and ordered some stainless steel threaded bar to go with the brass nut. But 3in1 oil deffinately made a big difference for the steel on steel.by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
Joar. This part is brilliant. Ive waterjet cut one in 5mm aluminium this afternoon and im going to print your parts. Plas will you put the stl file fo the back support without the striker for the limit switch up again as i think it may have become corrupt. It only shows up as 80bytes. Ill post some pictures when its all done.by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
A quick tip for easier trimming when the tape has adhered properly is to run round the edge with an old small toothed file. Much quicker, easier and safer than using razor blades or scalpals.by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
Quoteraffybuffy So the actual steps for mm is 4000 e with the new threaded rod will be 2133.33 a little less accurate.... :-D But I presume the more accurate mechanical structure and longevity are more important. I'm not sure if raffybuffy is meaning resolution rather than accuracy here. Surely the tolerances on any ormerods manufactured parts would mean there accuracy could be out by 0.03mm aby jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
I have been using Cura with the ormerod plugins for a few days now and have found that in my experience the results have been better than when using slic3r. Check out this thread for the plug-in for cura and the settings. I have the V2.4 running on Cura 14.01 in windows 7. I was browsing thingiverse last night and saw the bits you have put up there. Many thanks. Think i might have a go at the fan duct when i've done my next bach of prints. What settings did you print yours with in slic3r.by jy_oc_hx - Ormerod
Quotedrm13002 Another dumb question how do I turn the model to the face I want down before exporting it as g code No such thing as a dumb question! A quest for knowledge and improvement is a great thing. If you don't already have it , then netfabb is a great free tool to use for this.
