Some more ideas... With Halloween around the corner I was thinking some Orange/Black/White items of a Halloween'ish nature would be good also... with the "RepRap.org" branding incorporated of course! I've done a little magic wand design and ran some in Halloween colours... STL attached for sharing.

Well I am back up and printing again. The 3DSM extruder just failed way too many times. So First I ordered a wade's extruder from e-bay. Wade's
After it arived I had to reverse my stepper motor instead of trying to get into the cripled 3dsm firmware I just took the wires out of the socket and reversed them. Then I started looking around for ways to mount it. First I tried This mount but the ne

As I was fighting with my current rather badly designed extruder I was thinking of ways to improve it. Hitting it with a hammer a few million times was at the top of my list. But right below that was increasing the amount of surface of the hobbed bolt/drive gear touching the filament. I thought of a wood screw right away and then dug around and found out that someone else had already thought of i

Ahh I see less a actual extruder more like a powered guide pulley. No need for anything with teeth then you could get a couple of nylon or rubber wheels to feed through.
Thanks and good luck Mike.

I am in seattle.. I have an i3 9x9x12 printer for sale $600 with power supply and lcd screen. Bought from diytechshop.com
While I am in the market for a i3. $600 is a bit steep for a used printer.

Thanks I was looking at Hydroslice right before I checked back here. I assumed there would be a setup fee of some kind. I will give them both a call and get a quotes. If it's reasonable I think I have enough aluminum for a couple single sheet printers or one with buttresses.
Thanks again Mike

Well I figured out a solution to the 3DSM extruder clutch popping problem. I replaced the pressure plate screw with a slightly longer one. Then I took a paper-clip and threaded it through the hole in the clutch arm and down around the longer screw. I know I am defeating a safety but as far as I can tell the clutch only exists to ruin a perfectly good print.

It might be difficult to keep a setup like that in sync. If your tip motor ran too fast it would shred the filament right into the hotend. If it ran too slow it would bind up in the bowden tube. But if you had it Goldilocks perfect it would be awesome..
Thanks Mike.

I paid $18 for 1kg plus shipping. My test roll cost $43 including expedited China post shipping to Austria which arrived in 10 days.
Buying 10kg would drop the price to $30/kg including shipping.
Would you mind linking a supplier?

I have some aluminum plates I would like cut into a Prusa i3 frame. Has anyone in Seattle used any of the local machine shops for waterjet cutting? I can try someone blind but I would prefer a reference.
Thanks Mike.

I can try replacing with smaller rods, but that's a pain in many ways (wait for delivery, pricey, etc.). Also, doesn't it seem like correctly sized rods SHOULD work with correctly sized bearings?
You mean actually place it into a drill or drill press and then use an oiled rag or sandpaper to polish it? Will any oil work? Also, is there a way to protect it from rusting afterwards (e.

I would take the rods off and cuck them into a drill then attack them with at least a oil soaked rag. Depending on how bad the rust is I would sand them lightly then give them a polish. You want the rods as smooth as possible.

Each hotend would have it's own temperature controller except the one selected for the first layer so that temperature for thet could be higher for the first layers.
Sorry I was thinking about how the physical setup would work out with the wires spinning around the central shaft, or if you were going to use a set of positional contacts for each hotend thermistor. The contact s

If you switch to Cura you can simply change the flow % to .33% in the software. just ignore the board settings.

Well sort of. Most of those parts can be used on either printer but the quanties will be off the kit you are looking for is I3 bolt kit.
I would still hit my local hardware store for most of those. I might pay a bit more but when you add in shipping costs and extra time I think i come out ahead.

Is this compatible with the i3? Description says it is for the i2.
You need to provide us with a link so we can look at what you're talking about.

Awesome I poked around in the forums for something on the subject but didn't come up with any bingos. Thanks ...ahhh a possible Makerbot patent, but it looks like their patent covers a automatic build platform while my concept is specifically for a infinite extended length build platform. The ideas are not quite the same. And.. I know the lawyers would have a field day with me..

Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
I dug through some of the bins at work and found a old iPad 2 screen to print on based on a indestructible I saw. The gorilla glass is an amazing print suffice, no heat and I am getting great adhesion and when I am done everything pops right off. The bottom of the print is super smooth. Taller skinny prints want to break free but adding a brim of 5 rows was all it took to keep them stuck. I know

RepRap Lego bricks.. If you have printers set up and running this is possibly a print on demand item. For kids only to show off to the parents how flexible the printers are.
