How is the project coming along? repeatability looks really good.by Evan - Mechanics
I would still advice trying to dry a short sample of the PLA. PLA is also sensitive to moisture and this sounds/looks like a moisture issue. In my experience moisture problems do get less when lower printing temperatures are used.by Evan - Printing
Looking at the structure at the drawing i think the stiffness can be best increased by increasing the torsion stiffness. This is almost always the problem with these kind of structures. Using thicker profiles can increase the stiffness but i would consider using triangular plates on the corners (see added image). If extrusion profiles of 20x20 are properly used i could see no reason that they woby Evan - Reprappers
QuoteDust Work out what you can print See if what you can not print is easily cut into more than one piece, abs part can be joined easily with acetone, and it also only has to hold long enough to print replacement parts on new printer. Beg for parts you can't print from here... or find a local makerspace type place that you can get them from. 3d printers are almost everywhere these days (I'm wby Evan - Reprappers
Quotethe_digital_dentist I'm pretty sure it was the bed under the glass that was bent. I'll bet the bed has 4 leveling screws... I had this structure once, really sucks. Broke my heated bed support. Now i have 3 leveling screws in a equally sided triangular structure and no problems. Also solved the problems that i had to level each print. These days i rarely level my bed.by Evan - Reprappers
Hi, I build a closed chamber for my home build 3D printer about 3 years ago and still very happy with it. I had some wood cut out of a plate at the Home Depot (in Holland) and used some angular profiles and screws to put everything together. Then i glued on this soundproofing material which i found cheaply somewhere on the internet from a local seller. Finally i got some led-strips used for "tunby Evan - Reprappers
I agree, this solution basically reduces the stiffness of the belt to the stiffness of the spring. Also it introduced stiffness dependency on the carriage position because the stiffness of the belt from the motor to the carriage has two routes and one now has the belt stiffness while the other has the spring stiffness. This could also decrease the dynamic properties especially if u have relativeby Evan - Reprappers
Hello All, The problem: Inspired by the new generation of dual extruder printers and the option in marlin enabling the use two independent x-axis extruders, i started working on a new concept. For me it started BCN3D Sigma which has two Independent moving extruders. For me the biggest disadvantage is the 2 stepper motors hanging on the y-axis. This really increases the weight and therefore decreby Evan - Reprappers
Ok, it turned out the x-axis slider wasn't sliding smooth enough so very small steps did not do anything. I modified the carriage and lubed the rods and the problem is fixed.by Evan - Printing
Hello, I have the same problem using auto bed leveling. Did u find a solution for this?by Evan - Printing
Hot end was hot enough, but it looks like i solved the problem. I thoroughly cleaned the nozzle and extruder (why didn't i think of that before...). Probably there was some pollution inside which caused the extruder to not run 100% smooth. It was smooth enough for think layers but the thin layers where too much.by Evan - Printing
I will try that begin next week, first a big print Btw a had an sample of PLA and 0.1 layer height with PLA was perfect, if slow speed doesn't work maybe i order some other samples of ABS and see if this works better.by Evan - Printing
Btw i'm using a direct drive extruder, 1.75mm ABS, heated bed with kaptontape and a glass plate and nozzle size is 0.4mm I was thinking maybe the extruder is just not running smooth enough. It is running on 1/16 step but the X and Y axis are on 1/32 step, so could i be possible that this is a overkill for the arduino?by Evan - Printing
Hello all, Lately my home build (i3 based) printer has some pretty good printing results so i decided to increase printing quality by lowering the layer height. So far i really like the results till I used this red ABS with layer height 0.1. (See added pictures) The surface is very rough en not smooth, I personally thought it was a temperature or extrusion multiply problem, but modifying the extby Evan - Printing
When heating up the hotend the temperature is't rising, so something is wrong somewhere. Ok i think my thermocouple is broken, when switching the + and - of the thermocouple or completely disconnecting there is'nt any difference. When disconnecting the AD597 there is a drop in temperature so i think that one is working.by Evan - RAMPS Electronics
Ok found a way to ceated a offset so it is back at the roomtemp. Anybody got an idea how te check if the tempreture is right at higher levels without dissembling the extruder?by Evan - RAMPS Electronics
Hello all, At this moment i have some problems with the temperature coming of mine k-type thermocouple. I’m running it with a RAMP 1.4 and marlin software About a month ago i bought a complete extruder with a thermocouple already build in. After some research i bought the following external board: . After that i followed the instruction on: and i got it working. Only one problem, when startinby Evan - RAMPS Electronics
