Some feedback I finaly got to fixing the defective hotend plug that would cause the hotend cooling fan to cut out during prints and then cause heating related errors and cause my prints to terminate. I could not find the same small six terminal plug and since I want to ad a part cooling fan to my printer I opted for a standard 8 terminal plug. |It looks huge but I will later design a retainer foby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
That looks just amazing Erik! I have been having problems with the Z-Clamps as when printing in the heat chamber the X-Arm keeps dropping by 0.1mm increments as the ABS flexes in the heat. So.. I decided to make my own Z-Clamps from Aluminium and it came out great! Now that I got everything back together the one LM12UU bearing SPLIT one of the balls inside it. I have also contemplared remaking tby Karoo Klong - Ormerod

FINALLY I CAN PRINT ABS PARTS!!!! I am so happy! The extrusion steps per mm was out by 7steps too much and the fact that I did not use extrusion factor of 1 but rather 0.75 made it worse. Once I fixed the extrusion factor I still had the ugly test cubes. Then I changed the heat values from Ludo's-abs.ini from 251 and printed in decreasing increments of 5°C. Eventually the prints came put perfecby Karoo Klong - Ormerod

Quotedc42 Although the bed is at 120C, the general temperature within your enclosure should be much lower. I recommend that you keep the Duet below 50C is possible. Ideally the PSU and Duet would be outside the enclosure. I would have to resesign my enclosure then since the powersuply is part of the machine's structure and the duet is extended to next to the Y-axis motor. Any ideas on where I cby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
Hi Guys I spoke to the person I bought my filament from yesterday and he has a paid version from Simplify3D and he swears he rather prefers working with KISSlicer. What are your opinions on this for now? I have the Prusa Edition Slic3r and the quality seem good but I want to find something optimal for my printer. Quotedc42 Regarding the LED, it probably couldn't handle 120C for long periods. It shouldn't be difficult to replace it. You could use a through-hole LED if you don't want to solder a SMD one. Thank you dc42 If that is the case then my other componants are also in harms way? Like my powersuply and the Duet board, motors and limit switches? I do get very good bed adheasion at 120°C Any other tby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
Hello everyone. Please forgive me for being silent for so long. I had some crisis that I had to attend to and unfortunately 3D Printingting was way back in the line. Thanks you for the kind words and advice Erik. I should also learn a design program. I must say with the new powersupply and the voltage boost my printer bed has no trouble at all to get to 120°C Since my last post I have installby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
Halo Kistenschieber Ek is afkomstig van Suid Afrika. My Duits is egter nie so goed soos ek dit graag sou wou hê nie. Ek neem ook aan dat Afrikaans nie jou sterkpunt is nie. Daarom praat ons maar o gelukkig die rooi taal om mekaar te verstaan. Hi I am from South Afrika. Quotebigbangnow Hello Treito, the Redblunt is right. X arm ist not up to date, and must be fixet like in prusa i3, and it will be nice if Ormerod 3 will be mobile...unfortunately it is not possible to carry the Ormerod or transport it from a to b. =D I carry mine around every day. It rises along in my car and prints during the day at work and evenings at my parents' home. And weekends at my owby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Why not buy a TPLink WR710 mini router? Or whatever updated model has replaced it now. That's an awesome idea. I have never even seen those. Had a quick look om Gumtree and saw someone in the vecinity is actually selling the TP-Link TL-MR3020 not sure if that will work. I need to make my Ormerod portable. And that means Of need a other way of connecting to it rather than LAN. Since my new Dell Venue Tablet does not have Lan. Now I need it to be WiFi but I cannot carry around a big old modem to create a. Access Point. So I have been looking into using my raspberry Pi to create a wireless access point and run Octoprint as well. It Is don't know a thing about neby Karoo Klong - Duet
Thank you Erik Since I carry my printer around nearly every day I had to get it as rigid as possible. The handle works a charm and it is also very well balanced. I am still having a bit of play on the Z-Extrusion in the X-direction which I still need to figure out how I will arrest that movement. Yes bolted to the undersides. I have been modifying my printer quite extensively as I said. Here are some pictures I took over the weekend. I now have the 12v 360Watt 30Amp power supply installed and it stabalises the Y and Z Axis against each other. So its properly rigid. The voltage is currently set at 12.5V but to what safe value can I boost the voltage on the Duet v0.6 in order to get more efficient heated bed opby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
Quoterstepanov I'd like to know if someone is interested in having PanelDue fimware running on 2.4" Nextion LCD (with original factory firmware wiped out). These boards are dirt-cheap, for $16 (including delivery) you can have a print-server with sd-card, lcd and touchscreen. The only disadvantage is small screen size... Will that work on the Duet v0.6?by Karoo Klong - Duet

Quotetrevmas WARNING! The original Ormerod solution allowed the Z nut to pop free if you crashed the head into the bed. This solution means that is no longer the case, all you have is the small amount of lift allowed by the rotation of the head on the rail. Can you not also wire in a conventional limit switch as a failsafe for if the carriage would crash into the bed? By the way, great job onby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
With much difficulty I managed to get the very brittle PLA that I have to print the Ormerod spring-loaded extruder. It works really nice. I am yet to use it on my ABS filament but I haven't had any shredding since. SHREDDER is no more. Well lets hope. So now.... I am using the stock Slic3r 0.9 and I could not get the extruder motor WITH the supports to print so I had to wing it. I had to waiby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
Some great work. You should really consider sharing it on thingyverse. Dropbox file links don't last. In thingyverse this van be added to Ormerod Upgrades for all to follow your work. In my search for improvements to be made on the Ormerod I came across Ludo91's post on The Easy Way to print ABS. Since my prints in ABS are very blobby I copied Ludo's .ini file and changed the speed settings to half of what he had. I then started adjusting as I was printing the XYZ calibration cube from thingyverse. I finally managed to get good results! I have now printed a replacement parby Karoo Klong - Ormerod
Cool topic. Would have liked to help but seems you beat me to it. I would also like to know about transforming the ORMEROD into something more sturdy and with a larger build area. Especially with duplicating the z axis motors.by Karoo Klong - Ormerod
This is a great idea!! But one of the biggest problems is also when the filament gets stuck and no movement happens. Can it be done that the movement of the filament is detected and in the absence of movement when the extruder gears are working it will also pause the print?by Karoo Klong - Duet
