Hey guys, I have prototyped a similar setup now and run it on my test machine. Shining a 1kW halogen over it varies the readings by only +/-3, whilst the combined average (in brackets) moves around a few hundred points. I have also stumbled upon something whilst trying to improve the hot end thermistor readings at room temperature. The arduino libraries set the default ADC resolution to 10 bitsby jmgiacalone - Ormerod
Well spotted! I did wonder why the graph dipped every so often, but I so far hadn't got a chance to look into it. I'll get it fixed when I next get into the office (Monday).by jmgiacalone - Ormerod
Hello dc42, Thank you for the great feedback and proposal. I have implemented the changes and milled a prototype PCB. The SMD components have just arrived, so I should be able to test it in the next day or so. As for your proposed firmware changes, they seem sensible to me. Unless you have the firmware mods done, I'm happy to implement them when I test the hardware. For your reference, the proby jmgiacalone - Ormerod
@repraprobbie: the Z probe wiring is polarity sensitive. You can check the probe is working by sending a G31 command, which will report the reading of the Z probe. Repeat with an object at varying distances from the sensor and you should see readings going up to about 970 when the target is touching the sensor.by jmgiacalone - Ormerod

@PhillipM eMAKERshop does offer all sorts of RepRap related items from sellers all over the world. If you're looking at getting your first machine, then I would advise you to consider a kit, such as the ones sold by RepRapPro (yes I am biased )by jmgiacalone - Sheffield RUG
Most likely culprit is an incorrect heatbed pin definition in firmware. Try setting HEATER_BED_PIN 10 in pins.h and following instructions for updating the firmware:by jmgiacalone - Huxley
Hey Guys, I am still active, just been busy dealing with our Christmas batch of kits, and moving premises. Your emails must have slipped through my net, but I think I''ve just gone through all the outstanding ones! Let me know if I've missed anyone out. Thanks, Jean-Marc.by jmgiacalone - General
I finally got the 1284P to work with Arduino on my Sanguinololu 1.3a. The trick was to use the fuse settings described here: The programmer cannot be USBTinyISP since this cannot program microcontrollers with more than 64Kb of flash memory, so I used the Pololu AVR programmer I used the Sanguino files for Arduino 0023, and copied across the bootloader from the Mighty1284P filesby jmgiacalone - Sanguino(lolu)
It should be cheaper than Gen6. It also has 3 Mosfet outputs, to control 2 heaters and a fan, as well as built in microSD card support, and with all of the spare Atmega644 IO pins broken out.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
Actually we are using the Melzi Ardentissimo, which has the same components as the Sanguinololu, only surface mount. We do not have the exact costs back from our supplier for these, but it will be very competitive.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
eMAKER and RepRapLtd have joined forces to bring you the RepRapPro Huxley 3D printer in a new indiegogo campaign. Less than 80 units are available for delivery (worldwide) in time for Christmas. The RepRapPro Huxley is an improved version of the eMAKER Huxley 3D printer, which has been sold to over 300 people throughout the world. The new machine comes with pre-assembled electronics, including iby jmgiacalone - For Sale
Had this happen on my Sanguinololu setup earlier. I have now taken out the DTR 0.1uF capacitor so the USB cannot reset the Atmega during normal printing (the capacitor can be replaced for firmware flashing). Will report back after much testing.by jmgiacalone - General
When it stopped for me, it was permament in the sense that repsnapper thought it had finished the print. But the machine was still functional; the temperatures were maintained, as well as axis positions. So the firmware had not been reset. I've tried to find out about usb power saving on ubuntu in vain. I also would like to know how to do that if anybody knows.by jmgiacalone - General
Due to overwhelming demand we have re-opened the campaign to offer a second round of pre-sale units! This second round of units will ship after the initial round of 150 beta units has been fulfilled, and before the official product releases to the public in the fall of 2011. See our indiegogo campaign page for more information.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
These kits have now SOLD OUT. Once the beta program is complete, we will list the eMAKER Huxley kits for sale on eMAKERshop.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
That is a shame. I am slowly releasing all of the details, however I have taken on a lot of work at the moment, so it won't be complete for a couple of weeks yet.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
Edit: removed.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
Only 20 days left to purchase an eMAKER Huxley kit. See our indiegogo campaign for more information.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
Don't know about anybody else, but I'm eager to see the Sumpod print. When will you be posting videos/photos? Thanks.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
Richard, We don't use MDF in our heated beds.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
We have no issues with warping. It is just a case of ensuring the build platform is at the right temperature before starting a print. Sometimes I am impatient and try to chance it, but it's never worth saving 5 minutes of warm-up only to ruin a 6hr print.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
Or you could sell your kits on www.emakershop.com The site is already setup and well known within the RepRap community.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
jcabrer, I disagree. Not waiting for the g-code to load in repsnapper has never been the cause for me. Proof of this came when running at Maker Faire earlier this year. I had a file loaded in repsnapper which I was running continuously throughout the day. This problem occured randomly during those prints. More recently, the effect of using my bench grinder leads me to believe it may be relatedby jmgiacalone - General
Hey guys, It seems this has happened to people using various operating systems and PCs. For me it has always happened on electronics using the Arduino MEGA 1280. Has anyone else had it happen with other electronics?by jmgiacalone - General
Hello, A 3D scanner attachment would be cool, but it would certainly be a way off. Filament is already available from a number of reprap related websites, but we are also in talks with suppliers of consistently high quality filament, so watch this space.by jmgiacalone - For Sale
Chris, Get yourself an SDRAMPS board for running from microSD card. Then all you need is to copy the Gcode to the microSD card, and run the machine using any simple serial terminal. Commands to control the card can be found in the wiki here. The board itself is designed to plug straight in to the RAMPS shield, so it is a very neat solution. I have been running my machines like this for weeksby jmgiacalone - General
My printer stopped twice today. Both times the machine was running from the SD card, but with the USB cable still plugged in. And the second time (not sure about the first, I can't remember) the machine stopped when I used my bench grinder. So I am starting to believe it is noise getting in to the RAMPS board. If I run from the SD card, with USB cable unplugged and don't use any power tools pluby jmgiacalone - General
You need to look at the line preceding that code segment: gcode_N = (strtol(&cmdbuffer + 1], NULL, 10)); This sets the current line number in the fw. So if the fw sees: N-1 M110 *15 it will expect the next command to be at line N0.by jmgiacalone - General
Greg, Thanks for the suggestions. I actually don't have the diode fitted as I run my RAMPS from a 19v laptop power supply. So the 5v for the arduino is provided by the USB cable when I get this problem.by jmgiacalone - General
