Here's the display that I designed for them in Sketchup. I made it into a little table lamp. The Hologram isn't a real hologram. It's just a cellphone on the bottom, with a clear 4-sided pyramid on top. So the image is reflected, creating a sort of 4-sided hologram illusion. BTW. I didn't design the restaurant you see in the images, that's just for aesthetics and size comparison. At the time I waby Sniper4395 - General
Thanks guys! These are pretty nice. I've noticed that both links are about projector holograms using lasers. Do you know anything about a Pepper's Ghost hologram using LCDs and mirrors? Here's something I saw in a local museum. What they did here is a Pepper's Ghost illusion combined with LCD displays. The LCDs are not visible until the screens are turned off, but they are actually displayingby Sniper4395 - General
Hey guys! Sorry for the off-topics post. Can anyone point me in the direction of DIY holographics, kits or ready to go setups that can be purchased? A link to a specific forum or something would be very helpful. I've tried searching around, but I'm in China at the moment and most search engines are censored to death without a VPN. Good questions! Thanks for giving me an opportunity to clear up some details for everyone. Sorting between what might sell and what might not sell is mostly not something that I intend to do. I think that everyone here can decide for themselves before shipping whether or not their prints are worth using or just ABS glue. The only things that I would turn down are obvious misprints that nobodyby Sniper4395 - Job Shop: I need stuff made!
Hey! Don't you have 3D printed stuff just sitting in a box somewhere collecting dust? Let me help you make a little money with that and clear out some of the clutter you've undoubtedly been building up since you've started printing. I'm going to list and sell all those things you've printed that you don't want to throw away but also haven't found a use for yet. Kevlar doesnt melt right? so every print has a continuous thread of kevlar... Yep I'd try it! :-) You'd have to avoid overheating the Kevlar during processing, however, because Kevlar will sort of decompose at high temps.by Sniper4395 - General
QuoteThe total mass was 381.69 kilograms or 841.6 pounds. It was delivered in 2196 original samples at a cost for the Apollo program of 24 billion dollars or 28,500 dollars per pound. My math wasn't wrong there, the quote was wrong. It says $28,500 dollars per pound. Multiply by 2000 (one ton) is $57 million. Good catch tho! Dark Alchemist have you seen Prusa's new hotend design? Some fun reading material that may apply here: Ray Kurzweil's The Coming Singularity Technological Singularity Wiki Ray Kurzweil's Timeline The point I'm trying to make here (if any point at all) is that we dont need the technology right now in order to start planning for the demands. bobc returning moon rocks to Earth meant creating specialized compartments for each rock within the spaceship which took a lot of room. It was not so much about the weight because shipping from the Moon to Earth is a downhill battle. As long as the shipping shuttle has enough of a heat barrier for reorbit I cant see why an H3 tank cant be crammed together and somewhat lethargically splashed intoby Sniper4395 - General

Helium-3 was theoretically the milk of a next-gen nuclear fusion power plant. not sure if we dont have the tech to use it yet or if we just havent tried due to it's rarity. an article explaining it all Quoteroughly one million tons of lunar soil being needed to be mined and processed for every 70 tonnes of helium-3 yield Quote25 tonnes of helium-3 -- or a fully-loaded Space Shuttle cargo bay'sby Sniper4395 - General

It's "micro" and "macro" in english, but I see your point. Sieving would save a lot of trouble. With all the ultra-light super-expensive materials avaliable to NASA then perhaps putting a foldable SLS up there wouldnt be too much of a problem. Did you see those pipes made with simulated moon rocks? Yikes! Some Makers need to step inside NASA and show them how it's done. SLS printing should lookby Sniper4395 - General

SLS on the moon! Wouldnt they have to crush the rocks into a consistant super fine dust for SLS to work with precision? Also Silica-like material for car frames sounds scary, even when the car only weighs 332lbs (assuming it wieghs 2,000lbs on earth.) They were talking a lot about emergency repair materials and patching, so I guess thats the realistic "first step" in 3D printing on the moon. Theby Sniper4395 - General

When I built my first printer thought I'd be a badass and get a .25mm nozzle AND save money by ordering 10lbs of cheap plastic. Still havent managed to unclog that nozzle. Stick with .5 and it'll save you a headache or go with .4 and learn from your mistakes.by Sniper4395 - Reprappers
Strange. I'm using 0.8.9 atm and it just starts a bridge then adds a rim followed by another layer on the bridge. You might want to look into later versions of Slic3r for that problem.by Sniper4395 - General
Not so much over extruding, but rather my first layers are a little squished. Anyway both of these issues are something a beginner like rptynan will have. Maybe I just like the extra staying power of a squished layer ok? ok!?by Sniper4395 - Reprappers
lol I had the same problem with Mk IV-B as brnrd and fixed it the same way. Anywho. Check out Arcol sometime. The Mk V-B is an awesome hotend especially for beginners, but I think it's more suseptible to dragging through prints if you dont use Z-lift and arcols tip will just kinda smooth the prints out. Arcol isnt exactly a beginner hotend though.by Sniper4395 - Reprappers
