Hey.
Sorry, seems that I missed the most important part
GCodePrintr is a 3D Print App for Android. You can connect your Android tablet or phone to your 3D printer using a USB OTG cable or Bluetooth.
Once connected you can control you printer (X/Y/Z momement, heat, fan,..), run macros or print a gcode file.
In combination with a cheap tablet you can add a simple touchscreen interface to your pr

Geplante Neuerungen in GCodeprintr V3.0

Hi 17b

Hi Simspeed,
the GCodePrintr App supports multiple ways to control your 3D printer:
1) Direct Print - Android device connected via USB OTG
Connect your tablet/phone to the 3D Printer using a USB-OTG adapter. The App can be used to replace a LCD for basic printer controls (movements, extrusion,..). When you start a print the App will send gcode line by line over USB to the printer and wait for

Hi Simspeed,
I have two printers (Multec Multirap + Prusa Mendel I2) both equipped with a Android tablet to control the printer.
GCodePrintr works fine to control the 3D printer without the need to have the PC running. Just send your gcode files over wifi to the App and let the App print it.
I'm the developer of GCodePrintr, let me know if you need help or have ideas for improvements.

Hi TheHackerArtist,
when you enable debug logging in the GCodePrintr App and send me the console output (long press on console -> send by email) then I can see if I can spot the problem.

Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hi Paf78,
you need a USB-OTG cable and an Android device which supports USB-OTG (most devices do support OTG, but not all).
You don't need to configure anything on Android.

@repetier,
thanks for the answer. I do not send checksums yet, therefore the line number shouldnt matter. I found a problem with how I handle the "wait" response and "G28 Z" works with Marlin but repetier fw complains (now I use G28 Z0 instead)
@Cyrus104, I did some improvements in the latest version V1.59. Let me know if you run into problems.
Thanks

Hi,
I am the developer of GCodePrintr, an Android App to control 3D printers.
While GCodePrintr works fine with Sprinter, Marlin or Makibox firmwares, it seems to have problems with the repetier firmware.
It seems to connect successfully, but when sending a gcode to the printer it disconnects. Trying to reconnect it just gets "Resend" response from the printer.
Is there anything special with

Hi :-)
as written by email, the problem is because the initial Z movement command is missing a whitespace (G1Z0.05 & G1Z0.3). Looks like the gcode parser cannot cope with that.
Workaround is to simply add a whitespace between G1 and Z coordinates / update your start/stop gcode in skeinforge.
I will see if I can fix the problem and push it into the next release.
Thanks for the feedback

Hi A2,
regarding Smoothieboard support:
The old version of GCode Simulator & Printer did not recognize the Smoothieboard because the vendorID/productID was missing.
I have added that to GCode Simulator & Printer Version V1.42 and now it should work well with the smoothieboard.

Anyhow, as of today more than 1100 installs of GCode Simulator for Android proof that there is a demand for printing from Android devices.

Hi Fridi,

@Callumburns
Sure, I have a rasp pi as well. I know that you don't need to keep the PC on for unattended printing.
But when you want to check the remaining print time or do any manual action (interrupt the print, pause to change filament, ..) you need it. You can't even start a print without it.
Nevermind, I agree that for some people this is sufficient. I prefer to see things like remaining

If the smoothieboard supports serial over usb then it should work.
I can't try it out since i do not have one.
@callumburns
I doubt that. I bought a cheap 7" tablet for 50€. If you order a 7" lcd panel for rasp pi it is much more expensive.
Without lcd you still need a pc to controll it.

The current hardware req. are not very high, it works with single core CPU and 512MB Ram.
But if you want to load larger gcode files (e.g. >500000 lines) >= 1GB RAM would be better.
USB OTG must be supported for sure. Bluetooth print works as well but Bluetooth has a higher latency and therefore cannot do very high speed prints.
Some devices seem to have a higher USB IO latency which ca

GCode Simulator does not require the Arduino ADK, it works with the normal Arduino Mega and a USB OTG cable + Android device.

Hallo,
