Ummm, I really think your problem is not related with mine because once I inverted the power polarity by error the diode literally burned and totally stop working... it is not that it get hot, it burned and had to replace the element.

Hi cdru,
I like the idea of the LM2596... is it possible to attach it to any power supply? is there any tutorial on how to use it?
Thanks again to all of you

I haven't an ATX power supply with a 5V output so I'm wondering if I can get those 5V from any pin in the RAMPS 1.4 board... I have tried unsuccessfully with the 5V servos pins...
Any easy way?
Thanks!

Thanks MindRealm,
You are right, the servos GND with 5V pin are giving me an output of 5V... so that the voltage regulator should be fine and the problem is in another place... any other suggestion? remember: LCD screen turned white, it doesn't recognize when the SD card is inserted (so that can't read the files inside it) and I can't connect to the Arduino through the USB and my computer or Oct

Hello David,
Thanks for the help.
I may then short-circuited VCC pin with PS-ON one.
I have tested the 5V regulator and there is 5V voltage between the big leg and one of the smaller three ones (is that correct? how can I test it is working fine completely?). I have also tested in Arduino the voltage between GND pin and 5V pin and it outputs correctly 5V. Finally, I have tested RAMPS and betwee

Hello,
Checking the 5V and Vcc pins (shown in the picture attached I have short circuited them (well, I really don't know which of two of the three near pins were connected) but I saw a puff of smoke and now the pins no output voltage. Also the LCD screen turned white (see the other image attached). The printer preheats the nozzle and the bed, move in all axis when I command it with the LCD clic

After lots of trying I have changed my A4988 stepper drivers with DRV 8825 ones and now it goes much better. It still vibrates but not much...
What I have now is that they get quite hot and they sometimes emit strange sounds like they were grating when rotating, strange thing.

Thanks for your answers guys.
I have tried new things but it's still printing the same way...
@MrDoctorDIV: I bought the hotend in eBay to a UK based store, it's a supposed to be a MKV 0,4mm and 1,75mm filament. I setup it as bowden, closeup picture:
@chewbaccah: I have a pretty big fan covering the stepper drivers (could they be not working properly?) and I'll try with a fan directly to the

The extruder is the RIchrap's 3DR default one (I think it's a modification of Greg's one) with a Nema 17 stepper motor:
Do you think it may be the problem? or maybe the hotend?

Yeah,
Using spool and bowden extruder with 1,75mm filament... don't know if any of these could finish in that error... Still working around

It is correctly set, maybe it's a problem with the current they share with the stepper motor... Your guess is that it lacks of current or is overloaded?
Thanks

Hello,
I have been playing with lots of configs but I still can't figure out what it causing this "non uniform extrusion":
Could any of you guys check it? do you have any clue about what's causing it?
Thanks!

Hi,
I also would like to share with you my progress on my 3DR build with extension in order to increase the printable radious and that had problems with vibration (not related with the increase in size, read about the problems I had in previous post of this same topic if you are curious or interested).
So, I finally solved the vibration problems switching to Repetier firmware, I don't know if the

Hi ekaggrat,
It's there but it has a different name so that it's not grouped with the other LCDXXL files. It's called "3DR_Top_Case_XXL_V2_001_RTP.stl".

Thanks again, I'll try it out. As far as I understand you think the vibration/stuttering is due to drivers, doen't it?

NoobMan,
Thanks again for your help, could you be more specific? I don't know what do you mean by Rsense and PFD... are them in the RUMBA board, drivers or any other component? sorry but I don't know what are them...

Hi NoobMan,
I have seen the posts and the noise is different, it's not patterned it's just the normal sound but multiplied by 4, hehehe. It's much more appreciable when I rise the drivers to 0,5V that is the recommended voltage.
Other thing that I notice is that when steppers change direction they emit a different noise and much more appreciable, like if they where hitting something physically..

Hi Cefiar,
Thanks for your comments. I have tried switching wires and they vibrate the same. There is a possibility that you are right about that they may be dropped while in transit to delivery, but if we don't consider it I have some other tests:
if I lower the driver pots the vibration gets lowered the lower the speed the more it vibrates and finally, I have tested that it vibrate considerab

Hello,
I'm using Nema 17 (SY42STH47-1684A) steppers, A4988 drivers with 16 microstepping on my Delta 3DR build. When steppers move or they are not moving but "loaded" they vibrate and transmit it to the extruder so all my printed parts have not full linear and regular walls.
I think it's a problem with my setup but I can't find why... I have a RUMBA board with jumpers to select the microstepping

Yeah! You are right hercek, those options are the ones that control the limits... it was there but I wasn't able to find it, thanks a lot!
The curious thing is that by default they are set to 90mm, that is 180mm in total length which is very very close to the "square circumscribed in a circle of 260mm diameter"... Hehehe
So, issue solved, thanks again
