Hi David, thanks for the info.
The schematics will enable m to mod my v1.1 PCB.
Done it, worked a treat

Thanks David.
Is it as simple as a wire mod ?
Are the schematics for v1 and v2 open source and available ?

I have a 4.3" and 7" LCD and panel due running latest version of firmware.
Pressing the brightness +/- buttons on the display doesn't seem to do anything.
I notice that on the back of the LCD PCB there are links for backlight control:
1963_PWM, LED_A, Always on.
No effect with any setting.
Any ideas ?

With the link in the 3.3v position, I got a noisy display with horizontal line jitter.
With the link in the 5v position, the display is crisp.
I'll put a scope on the supply and see if it's noisy, and maybe fit a cap here and there.

V1.14 works well with the 7" display I got from here
Don't forget to do the 5V wire link mod if you have the version 1.0 PCB, and move the link to 5V position.
Documented by DC42 here
I'm very pleased, thanks David.

Hi,
I would like to build the DC42 RepRapFirmware from Dr. DC's source code.
I am using two MAX31855 thermocouple chips for bed and hot end temp measurement.
Every now and then (say one or twice in 5 minutes) I see a temp single reading of 2000'C, and of course the firmware sees this and shuts down the relevant heater.
I have tried various power supplies, everything else disconnected, a 1 inch

@JujuDelta: There is no possibility to use a second fan slider yet, but if there is reasonable demand for it, I may add support for that to a future version. Do you actually use two independent cooling fans?
My delta is in the workshop and it's a bit cool and draughty this time of year.
I'd like to use a second controllable fan to heat up an enclosure for ABS printing.

Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hi, I am using exposed tip thermocouples which are not grounded.
As an experiment, When I connect the tip to 0V, it reads 2000'C
I will be insulating the nozzle thermocouple tip, with thin walled PTFE heatshrink tubing. If my nozzle heater cartridge fails, 12v might be applied to the nozzle metalwork and take out the max31855, or worse still, the arm chip on the duet pcb.

I only have one nozzle, so am using nozzle #2 and the M141 H2 S50 command to set the chamber temperature to 50'C for ABS.
So far I have controlled a fan using this.
The chamber temps appear on the web interface.
I plan to use this heater, maybe on 5V to heat up a collapsible cloche enclosure.
At 12V its rated at 150W, that's a whopping 12.5 Amps !
So at 5V should be 5.2A.
At 3.3V it should be 3.

Do you have access to an oscilloscope or USBee analyzer ?
It will be very hard to debug if you can't see what SCLK, MISO and /CS are doing.
I have seen my second channel (nozzle) read 2000 occasionally on the web interface, not sure if it's a hardware or firmware problem yet.
Doesnt stop the print.

I hope the next Duet PCB includes the MAX31855 thermocouple device.
Seems to work so much better than NTC thermistor potential divider

Got it all working nicely, after an initial problem with /CS for the 2nd channel.
Soon found the problem with a scope and schematics for Duet.
Need to get some small bore ptfe heatshrink tubing to isolate my naked thermocouple tips
The PCB ended up being larger than I had hoped, due to poor vero board layout.
The PCB R/A thermocouple plugs/sockets are quite big too.
I can run off 3.3V or 5V, as t

Thanks Dave.
I might try and knock up a dual circuit myself.
The MAX31855 devices are available from Farnell etc as well as SOIC to DIP adapter pcbs.
I can solder SOIC at home but nothing smaller like TSSOP etc. Although we have a stereoscopic microscope at work and smt rework station.
Just need to check into differing metal junctions that might upset the K type thermocouple readings.

Hi,
I'm after a dual thermocouple pcb based on the max31855.
I've not been able to find one on eBay.co.uk etc.
Please post a link if you see any in the uk or Europe.
Thanks.

Hi, what are the advantages of thermocouples over the 100k ohm thermistors in our application ?

I feel sad, I am also giving up on Sli3r
Life's too short and I spend enough time already messing with my Mini Kossel.
Too many problems as discussed in this thread.
I will try Cura for a while, and research Simplify3D.

Hi David,
Just loaded v1.12 into my Paneldue and it looks great and works a treat with my new duet v0.8.5
Thanks for your efforts, I don't know how you find the time.

Hi,
I've just received my new Duet V0.8.5 PCB and have been familiarising myself with the schematic before I power it up and fry it.

Hi David,
Took my duet PCs to work and my IT manager hooked it up to a test network and it all worked fine. Phew !
The following uSD cards worked
Sandisk 2gb nothing special
Transcend 4gb hc class 4
Micro SD 16gb hc I U1
So there is a difference between my old bt router and my new sky router which should be easy to find out when I admin log into it tonight.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Well I tried a faster uSD card but to no avail.
Rolled back to firmare "i" from "k", still the same
Even tried wifi to lan bridge on the PC, still no connection.
I am very suspicious of my new Sky router, although everything else in the house works.
It all worked the previous night with the BT router.
Any ideas ?
My Duet IP address is 192.168.1.14 but it appears as 192.168.1.14/# on the PC

Hi,
I may be experiencing the very same problem.
I've had flakey Ethernet wifi client connections, which have got worse as I've edited and added various .g files to the /sys directory.
All other IT equipment in the workshop is working fine.
The uSD card supplied with my Duet 0.6 is a 2Gb unbranded type.
I will try a known branded card tonight.
David, can you recommend a Windows or Ubuntu based

Hi,
I have a Paneldue I purchased from t3dp3d a few weeks ago.
I will try to update its firmware to the latest offering from dc42 GitHub using bossac etc.
Do the LCD menu macros go in the full size sad card of the panel due, or the micro sd card of the duet ?
Fat32 ?
What else can the Paneldue full size sd card be used for ?
Thanks.

were is your board and panelDue coming from? I have been very pleased with service and products from T3DP3D but it take awhile for shipping....Are you also using a differential IR probe?
Hi, I got the duet and panel due from t3dp3d.
Not the cheapest but very reliable and fast service.
I got my mini kossel from them as well, and various spares etc.

Hello All,
New to this forum but have been lurking for some months.
I am in the process of upgrading my Mini Kossel Delta to 32 bit Duet
Is there any advantage (accuracy & repeatability etc) in changing the XYZ top micro-switches for slotted optos
Now would be a convenient time as I am removing the old electronics and tidying up the wiring.
Many Thanks
JuJuDelta.
