Hey,
I'm interested in doing some PCB milling using my Reprap. I've read thru the PCB milling wiki - thanks Traumflug.
My question is, I've read that PCB milling with a Prusa and a Dremel flex shaft isn't really doable because of various mechanical limitations. I'd like to mill small and simple boards occasionally, but am I wasting my time?
Can someone point me to some other info on this? Al

CNC Routers, Mills, and Hybrid RepRapping
Thanks for the help guys. After a few nights of checking the motors, drivers, wiring, traces and soldering, I still don't see the problem.
UPDATE:
Hmm, I have two bad stepper drivers (not including the one I cooked already). Question now is what did to break them....

Hmm well coincidentally the only bad toner transfer part I had was on one of the caps on the Z axis. I had to tie the capacitor lead to the pololu header. It, unfortunately, isn't the issue. I've really checked and double checked every joint on the board now. Before I start ripping out and replacing components randomly, any other ideas?

So I was able to get Teacup loaded on my gen7 1.3 painlessly. Everything is working fine - except the Z-axis is not turning properly. It almost immediately smoked the Pololu driver.
I plugged in a new driver and it gets very hot as soon as any of the axis are turn on. The motor makes a bad humming sound like it's violently skipping steps, but doesn't rotate at all. Its not a wiring or mechanical

Thanks. It is pretty obvious, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't cook a motor, driver, or board. Also, they're still in the mail, but it looks like the Pololu drivers are very clearly labeled also, so all is well. Thanks!

Hey guys,
I'm off on the adventure of making a Gen 7 board. So far so good, I'm waiting for a few more components and I should be ready to start loading the bootloader and firmware - fingers crossed.
But, I can't seem to find info on the many pins on the board. Heater and temp are pretty straight forward, but what are the pins for the stepper motors and endstops? I must be missing something obv

Bah, I've switched to Slic3r. It's a lot better than Skeinforge IMO. I'm pretty sure the delay before start of print thing is a cmd somewhere in the Marlin firmware. I could be wrong about this though.

Firmware - experimental, borrowed, and future
Ok after a night's sleep I noticed the line in the marlin configuration:
//this prevents dangerous Extruder moves, i.e. if the temperature is under the limit
//can be software-disabled for whatever purposes by
#define PREVENT_DANGEROUS_EXTRUDE
#define EXTRUDE_MINTEMP 190
I guess the firmware default settings are for ABS as this is way too hot for PLA. I changed lowered the min temp to 170 and

Hey
I vaguely remember reading about some of these issues somewhere on here, but hmm now I can't find it.
I recently uploaded the Marlin firmware to my Gen 6 and I'm left with a few issues. I've printed successfully using Sprinter/Slic3r/pronterface, so hardware/wiring/Gcode are most likely not the problem.
1) Where in the config can I eliminate the waiting before printing? I assume this is

Great Stuff! Thanks, can't wait for part two.

Or, you have your X and Y steppers reversed. Turn off power and swap the X and Y plugs on yr board and try that.

Makergear.com is very popular - especially for their hotends. But yes, they sell out of parts often. Also, believe it or not, Ebay is great too.

Yep. The Prints are coming out all around better now. Gotta love 3d printing - where a 10th of a mm makes that much of a difference. Thanks!

Nice! Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try that now and report back.

Printing
Hi All!
I've gotten better and better prints using Pronterface and playing around with Sfact settings, but I'm having trouble with the perimeter extrusion occasionally not sticking to the previous layer when printing concave curves (if that makes sense). Take a look at the pic. Any ideas what I should adjust to fix this?
I'm currently at 70mm main feedrate, 30mm perimeter, 184c with PLA, layer

Printing
Hi I'm trying to build my first printer using a Wades extruder and a Maker Gear hotend pack. I'm having trouble getting the temp of the hot end above about 210 deg C or so. The resistance of the nicrom (sp?) wire is about 5.5 ohms which seems to be within spec. I've used both Repsnapper and Pronterface and manually set the temp to 240 C but even after 30 minutes it never makes temp. My ABS obviou
