Hello guys, I'm not very familiar with openscad. I want to make STL's of "Greg's hinged extruder" (thingiverse.com/thing:17030) but I get error's like: WARNING: Can't open import file '"wade-large.stl"'. WARNING: Can't open import file '"wade-small.stl"'. WARNING: Can't open library 'inc/parametric_involute_gear_v5.0.scad'. Could anyone explain what to do to solve this? Should I edit the codeby homecore - General
Hello everyone, After a good chat on the IRC-channels, 2 possible diagnosis were made: too much temperature fluctuation and a Z-axis that was not straight. I have replaced one of the 2 Z-axis and this confirms the diagnosis: the wave pattern was caused by Z-wobble, meaning the Z-axis was far from straight and the curve in the Z-axis had it's effect on the cross-layer wave pattern. My new axisby homecore - Printing
Well I do notice my temperature fluctuates between 182 and 188°C instead of a super-steady 185. That's caused by my rather old GEN6 electronics and I already put in a capacitor to reduce this fluctuation. So this 3° tolerance could explain the slight wave pattern showing in the X or Y direction, but in my opinion it would not explain the wave pattern in the Z-direction because temperature fluctuby homecore - Printing
Hello guys, I have tried different E-values and tightend the X-belt but the wobblyness is still there...any ideas?by homecore - Printing
Hi Bilsch, I have: classic Mendel with adrian's geared extruder (and hotend), GEN6 electronics, Marlin software (25-02-2012 which I still use because of the 'old' gen6 electronics I am on), pronterface and slicer, a 0.5 nozzle and 3mm filament with layer height set at 0.1969 (best value according to joseph prusa's calculation page instead of 0.2mm). My extrusion width is set to 0.5 in slicer sofby homecore - Printing
Hello guys, I'm callibrating and closely getting there. I have 3 pictures showing a certain phenomenon, which is a clear manifestation of a wave pattern, accross the layers. What do you think causes this? The first picture is the 0.5mm thin wall object that is widely used. It is for now still 0.7mm but even then I do not see why lowering e-steps would also remove the wave-pattern you can clearlyby homecore - Printing
Hey ggherbaz, I also get the feeling somethings "multiplying" somewhere :-) But it's not slicer, the multiplier is and always has been at 1...could firmware or pronterface do a multiplication somewhere? Or should we look elswhere for the solution... That being said though...I did the manual 100mm extrusion using the pronterface GUI... so for calibration there was no slicing involved...I assumeby homecore - Printing
Hello guys, For some reason the calibration methods described everywhere seem not to work out for my printer & toolchain combination. I can't understand why. Here are 2 cube prints I stopped during infill printing to show what's happening: The object to the right was printed with Esteps/mm=1134. This value was obtained by telling pronterface to extrude 100mm, measuring the actual length cby homecore - Printing
Hello guys, thanks for your advice, I will give it a try. I have a single motor Z drive (classic Mendel design). The Z-steps have been calibrated using the great prusa website calculator so I'm guessing that's fine (8-21 gear ratio, 1/8 microsteps and 1.25pitch gives me 3360 steps). The pictorial guide is superb, I tried it yes and that's why I was thinking acceleration might be it, the calibraby homecore - General
Hey Sungod3k, There is nothing wrong with the frame. Let me put it this way: I can leave the pronterface field on the default 5mm and press the 'extrude button' 4 times. The result = 20mm I could also fill in 20mm and press the button once. The result seems to be only 5mm ==> the results are not the same, it seems like pronterface remembers the first value used and ignores the second valueby homecore - Reprappers
Hey Thanos, Thanks for your ideas. My bed is as level as I can get it to be. Also, I tried a calibration object in the center of the bed (only 2 square cm), hence cancelling out the bed level effect. But the results are the same: the nozzle seems to scratch the previous layer just enough to pull everything out of place. What are good parameters for retraction, I must say I have not checked thatby homecore - General
Hi guys, I'm trying to get my regular Mendel printer to work and several calibration tests aren't turning out as it should. I have the old Adrian geared extruder, gen6 electronics, slicer and pronterface. I have manually measured the extruder steps/mm before installing the hot-end and it is now set at 718 steps. When extruding 10cm of filament without hot-end, the extruder pulls through exactlby homecore - General
Hi guys, A very stupid question, but: my debug light on my gen6 is continuously lit...is this normal? :-) If not, what should I do? thanks!by homecore - Controllers
well it must be, but for me to be able to callibrate, I must get a consequent result from each command I give to the extruder. If I set it to extrude 5mm first And then to extrude 10mm...well this second time the extruder operation time should be double the first, right? and for some reason that does not happen...can anyone guess what causes this? The only thing I came up with is that Pronterfby homecore - Reprappers
Hi guys, I'm trying for the millionth time to callibrate my extruder. I just noticed that when I change the 5mm extrusion value in pronterface to, say 100mm...my printer doens't seem to extrude much longer than with the 5mm setting...what could be the reason here? The text monitor field does say "extruding 100mm of filament" though, but the extrusion time does not seem to change?? Hoping for yoby homecore - Reprappers
Thanks for your thought, traumflug. I could try to reïnstall Arduino, although it seems odd that this would be the cause of my problems. I have Arduino 0018...and I didn't reïnstall it lately...it seems weird to me that the arduino IDE can be the cause if I haven't made any changes to it since the last time everything worked fine?by homecore - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hello everyone, It's been a while since I played around with my reprap. But something weird seems te happen when I'm trying to compile Marlin. I posted the errors here under, but I don't know what's wrong. I don't seem to find a Wstring.h file in the marlin zip-file...although I have used that zip-file in the past without problems... should I just find a new Marlin version? Hi guys, I'd like to start a topic in which we can all verify our calculated E_steps_per_mm values. For the new people (me up until yesterday): this is the number of steps your extruder stepper motor must get to pull/push 1mm of filament through the extruder. The formula to calculate it depends on the mechanical construction of your extruder of course. Let's all explain it for our own extruder aby homecore - General
Problem solved! I did a total reïnstall of the latest pronterface with Slic3r integrated. I can now load the STL file...I'm on to the next problem...which is my printer X-axis going out of bounds when trying to print the leveling object from the calibration page.by homecore - Skeinforge

Hello everyone, As a newbie, I have a really basic question: I can't seem to find the tech drawings of each individual part, with dimensions of holes and thicknesses etc...? I just had my reprapped parts delivered, but I need to clean out the holes...and for that, I need to know which drill to put inside each hole Hoping for a quick response, I greet you all.by homecore - General Mendel Topics
