I really did not get into it till I had a machine running which has only been the past month.
There is a lot to do but for the most part I am getting it to print and we have seemed to have found the major bugs.
One of the big things Zach and myself would like to work on it the ability to print to a xml file and also software to print from the xml file so then you could have software that does

RepRap Host
To go a step farther what I did when I first got into the project was to print for the most part the Wiki (before Ed had Darwin finished this was not to long ago in Feb of this year) and took it on a camping trip with my son it was a big help to figure everything out.

Welcome Jim,
plug in hybrids sound cool? as for the parts you can buy the printed circuit boards from the reprap foundation www.rrrf.com. As for the electronic parts you can buy from Digikey I personaly order from them at work. We have been using Mouser for the project just to make it easy and so we were all on the same page. It would not matter the list of parts that is on the reprap web site is

Squintz,
Joost has made them out of Aluminum, and I have made them out of Oak it is not to hard but you need to drill and tap the material. you can take a look at my machine on my blog at I have most of the drawings of my machine and have been very successful so far and have started to print parts to replace the wood parts..

I am running these motors from kelinginc.net and they are running very well. just a little on the high current side and they are causing some heat on my large heat sinks ( to warm to hold on to for 20 Sec. ) but other then that they are very smooth running. I did my home work and they seemed to be very close.
here is the model and spec.
I do not know about a bulk buy but i think he might since

Ah,
I can save you many hours of pain and difficulty. As for I was in this same situation last week.
1st install everything from the non Devolopers install the way they mentioned to do it using the same software.. ( there are a few new packages but for the most part follow the instructions.) this will include jre, rxtx, and java 3d. you do not need the host yet but it would help to make sure ev

I looked at Arduino's source and it does not look to be to hard. Plus we have a script now that Johnathan had made it creates a copy of the present host file all it needs is the rxtx, 3d to be added..

I love live cd's and it might be an option since we need other software like Aoi....
but I have to agree with Zach, we do need a better package but it also need to be updated on a regular basis. The one we say to use now unless you use the Devoloper install is from july and it seems a lot has changed since then..

also Reece I have made a cd using Ubuntu that had reprap on it and would

I am using HDPE because like Nophead is the easiest to acquire. From reading nopheads blog I have found I realy need 200 C. to get anything to stick which I have found to be true so far. I am using formica to extrude on an so far my bigest problem is I can not get my temp past 160 c. so here is my list from a profile test after 146 Deg I started to get -273 ??
Thanks Bruce W.

Dan,
Thank you and you were right I removed a zero on the capacitor value and it now seems to work a lot better. So I seems the host software has an extra zero by default?
