When I printed it on my prusa I re-sized it so it fit on my 200mm HPB, the size change didn't seem to cause a problem. I scaled it 0.92X 0.95Y 1.00Z
I will print another one for this comp when I can get my broken glass replaced, I was impatient and hit a part to get it off when everything was still hot.
I have a .35mm nozzle and used .20mm layer height

does anyone know if any US distributors carry soft PLA?
I printed a blue clutch and my advise is make sure the bed is perfectly level!
I sliced it with Kisslicer in about 15 minutes when i printed it.

add a heat sink to the SS and put a fan blowing across it

from the looks of it you have acces to a lathe. Make the thermal break section out of stainless steel not brass. It has a much lower thermal conduction coeficient, i.e. The heat wont travel up as much. And use a fan across the cold part of the hot end.

it flys well, with several rubberbands it flys up then loops almost back to me.
Forgot to mention: nozzle is .35mm extrusion width .38 and layer height of .20
I tried to print a cat toy and it was to week at 275, i think that the temp needs to more like 300. The planes print are only a couple mm tall so i think as the taller objects are cooler because they dont get the benefit of the heat from

I have printed a couple small extruder gears using PC on my prusa, I put a large flat on them such as the sli3er brim feature but I use Kisslicer. The best print sofar is the Stratos Glider
her is a link to the first one I printed before he added a version with a "beard" to keep the front of the plane down.
The plane is very durable compared to the PLA one I printed, and a lot of fun.

This is by far the best designed Mendel/Prusa out there, IMHO.
I updated my prusa v1 X axis and upper motor mounts to the ecksbot parts, If i were ambitious I would print an entire machine out because everything is just better. The belt is centered above the x axis rod instead of levered off the back like most of the other designs.

you said you have been experimenting, so did u try 250 mm/s? If you are lookiing for a anilitical answer you can calculate it out based on mass of the system, motor rpm, etc.
What im saying is if you already have it built test it, when you miss steps you know that is to fast, from whatever that speed is reduce it by a safety factor and that should be your max speed.
Consider using more Voltage t

it sounds like the steps/mm of travel in the firmware needs to be changed.

Try changing the firmware to marlin, i had simular problems and that is what i did to solve it.
It also produces very nice prints.

print yourself a circle template, the kind used for drafting back in the old days. Or go buy one, they are about $10
Then set the circle template on your drawing and line up the radius on the drawing to the best fitting radius from the circle template, this method works very well having used it many times.

In Kisslicer in Prefrences/Advanced Settings the G-code tab I had to change:
Firmware Type to 5D-absolute E
File Extension to gcode
Thats it I think, Using Repetier-Host v0.36 I realize there are newer versions but It is working great for me and all the software is stable.
Firmware is marlin on RAMPS 1.4
Looking at your file is seems to have an extra file extension .kss.gcode
Should it just b

i have been using it with repetier all along i did have to tweak something to get the display to work properly, i can take a look and l will let you know.
The other advice seems spot on with what my experiences are with complicated prints. Slow down, then go slower qnd use a lot of air across the part to speed phase transformation. I have had good luck running the heated bed @ about 60 C measured

That sounds very familiar, I started using Kisslicer a couple months ago and the support is really awesome except for trying to remove it. I however would like to be able to easily enclose the print area to allow a more equal temperature during printing for polycarbonate.
I have not used PVA yet but from the research i have done the big problem is that ABS doesn't like to stick to it, I do not ha

I tried to print it several times also richrap 4th time was the charm for me. I used three loops with zero infill.
The best advice is to use Kisslicer, I have used several versions of Slic3r and since switching never looked back, it handles everything much better. I am still using the free version after several months and a couple pounds of PLA, and some ABS and PC and hands down the best slicer

Thank you to the women. I was comparing mine to NewPerfections's print and I also couldn't tell who managed to print a better sculpture, so awesome job NewPerfection.
I will post next weeks contest tomorrow, NewPerfection feel free to PM me with ideas I have a few but let me know if you have any.
Thank you Bruce

My entry printed on my prusa/ecksbot mix-up. Printed with purple PLA from ultimachine using 0.35mm nozzle and sliced with kisslicer at 0.17mm layer heights.

It seems like something is moving during the print. I would suggest putting the printer on a large clean surface and checking every fastener by putting a wrench or allen key or whatever appropriate tool and checking tightness. I suggest moving it because it will change you're perspective and you might see something else not right in the process of moving and tightening. Might also want to bribe

I have had best results with good drill bits from harvey tool. Search on there website and you can get very small drill bits.
I have used a milling machine and lathe and the drill bits make the biggest difference, i was using cheeper drill bits and had marginal sucess.

I don't use the J-heads but I did notice this on the wiki:
" Nozzle orifice length
Mk IV hot-ends (up to the middle of May 2012), and earlier models, had a nozzle orifice length of approximately 1.25mm.
Mk IV hot-ends (after the middle of May 2012) and Mk V hot-ends have a nozzle orifice length of approximately 0.50mm.
Note: Due to the nature of 5c collets, the nozzle orifice length c

I'm running Ramps 1.4, Arduino 2560, Marlin firmware. I have been running successfully until now that I have installed a Heated bed with thermistor. I cant get the firmware settings correct, I have verified the thermistor and wiring. When I uncomment the
#define BED_MAXTEMP
The max temp is triggered and both the extruder and HPB read 200 degrees even though they are both at room temp. I usuall

What heat are you running?
It looks like a heated bed, if so does you're power supply/s have enough power?

Solved
FiveD firmware had a bug when the speeds in the Z-axis were heigher than it could handle it would reset the controller.
Solution
Changed firmware to sprinter. I configured the latest build about a week ago and have had awesome results.
Thank you everyone for the suggestions.

I attempted to modify the G codes and replaced:

Restart problem solved. It turns out that it was the gcode that was generated by skeinforge. When I use the reprap to slice the stl 's into gcodes it prints fine. I do not know what it is in the skeinforge code but I will try and post it up.

I have to order/find a ferrite toroid and I will give that a try.
Attempted to isolate the problem by unplugging everything in the room including the LED's and fluorescent lights, however had the same result with the Mega disconnecting.
misan what firmware are you running, thanks for the help
