I am ready to try out my 0.8 mm Nozzle. What would be a good layerthicknes to try? I usually print 0.3 mm layers with my 0.4 mm nozzle, could I go to 0.6 mm layers with the 0.8 nozzle? (or even thicker?)by amr_dwarf - Mendel90
If I would like to print with different layer height than the 0.3 mm I always use do I need to change anything else then the parameter for that in Slic3r? And if i like to try a bigger nozzle than the 0.4 that came with the kit is there a need to change anything more than nozzle parameter?by amr_dwarf - Mendel90
I am not quote sure I get correct readings from the thermistor. If I should measure the temperature of the hot end where should I put the thermocouple? Should I just hold it against the nozzle tip from the outside? Should I stick i down the same way as the filament an measure the nozzle from the inside?by amr_dwarf - Mendel90
There is a small gap. The instructions where very clear on this point.by amr_dwarf - Mendel90
Thanks for a fast answer! After a bit of adjustments of settings our Mendel90 now prints nice with its new hotend. Now its time to try some more exotic filaments :-)by amr_dwarf - Mendel90
Just installed the E3D-v5 on my mendel90. But we cant seem to get it to work good. See the attached image. 3mm PLA 195 degreeC 5 mm extruded @ 50 mm/m The extruded PLA just curles back onto the nozzle. What could be the reason for this?by amr_dwarf - Mendel90
When using the E3D hotend and calibrating the Z-home position, what value do you use for "thermal expansion"? For the J-head that came in the kit Nophead specifies to use 0.2 mm.by amr_dwarf - Mendel90
So it works fine with the fan only powered when the heater is on? I was thinking about a way to have the fan constant on. I think the E3D complete with fan and housing looks to big to fit inside the Mendel90s fan shroud. But you got in in there without problems? Hmmm, might try the E3D instead of the Pico then...by amr_dwarf - Mendel90
Do the E3D fit straight on to the Mendel90 or is there som modifications needed? Is there a table for the thermistor avalible? How do you supply power to the fan in the E3D? I was also thinking of going to a bigger nozzle just to improve speed on bigger parts.by amr_dwarf - Mendel90
That sound good Ralph! So if I should pre-order a Pico is it the "groove mount" option I should choose? Anything else to think about, nozzle sizes, etc?by amr_dwarf - Mendel90
Would it be recommended to mount an additional ribbon cable?by amr_dwarf - Mendel90
Using Slic3r and Pronterface to run my Mendel90 dibond. Holes in prints always turns out a bit smaller then in the cad model. Inside measurments of geometries are allways a bot to small. What settings should I look at, how do I calibrate to get this right? Cheers Dwarfby amr_dwarf - Mendel90
I am looking at the Pico: Can the Melzi board I got in the kit from Nophead handle 40 watts of power at 12V? / Amr_Dwarfby amr_dwarf - Mendel90
My settings for retraction is in the attached image. Maybe "Minimum travel after retraction" is what needs to be adjusted? Please keep the input comming, it is helpful!by amr_dwarf - Printing
I am using rectilinar infill for bottom layer. The E-steps are calibrated and double checked. How to I check if filament feed is skipping? I can not see it and everyting else in the print looks nice.by amr_dwarf - Printing
Quoteitaysp1. The object should be hollow, so I must have 0 infill, but first few layers are solid. Setting infill to 0 is not the correct way to get hollow objects. If you want a hollow object you draw it hollow in CAD before slicing.by amr_dwarf - Slic3r
Hi, I just completed the build of a Mendel90. It works well and I am surprised with the good results without any real tweaking. But as I am new to this there is a few things I need to ask. Looking at the attached picture of a bottom layer one could see places where it is not solid. What settings should I look at to correct this? Using Slic3r and Pronterface printing from SD-card.
