I should have mentioned that F-Spot relied on Mono while Shotwell doesn't. As far as I know, F-Spot and Tomboy (notes manager) were the only mono-reliant apps in Ubuntu and they were pulled out years ago (F-Spot was replaced in Ubuntu 10.10 almost 4 years ago, it might be more recent for Tomboy). In fact, because of the controversial nature of Mono, I'm pretty sure you won't find it installed byby NormandC - General
It certainly reads as promotional BS. Just looked over their store, their "RepRap Extruder Hotend v2.0" is a copy of the Lulzbot Budaschnozzle v2.0. It would have been nice if they had mentioned it. I suggest we monitor this person, I suspect their only intention in being here is to advertise their store.by NormandC - General
Hello Ohmarinus, you expressed a valid concern, but I think it's unwarranted here, as Charles registered 2 months ago. Charles, on the 3D printing G+ community, look for posts by whosamatsis, a well known RepRap contributor. He has pointed out numerous design flaws of the 5th gen Replicator. BTW Makerbot is trying to patent his extruder design, which he posted on Thingiverse maybe two years agoby NormandC - General
QuoteTraumflug Mono is an Open Source project providing support for .Net on Non-Windows. Dunno which Linux distro you use and what you consider to be "intrusive", but it's part of Ubuntus standard installation, so it's not likely the big resource hog. No, it's not. Sure, all the mono libraries are in the Ubuntu repositories, but nothing mono related is installed on an Ubuntu default installationby NormandC - General
derfailer, sarazhang didn't even reply with a relevant comment. His only purpose here is to advertise his web store. Next time I recommend you report such spam, as I just did. Those parts are lasercut, and a laser cutter has no use for dimensions, since the input DXF file is exported directly into G-code which is what the laser cutter reads. QuoteTheSerialHobbyist Those IGUS bearings are actually more expensive than standard LM10UU ball bearings, so I imagine they did it because they think they perform better. IIRC jebba (Jeff Moe) confirmed on the Lulzbot forum that the reason was mainly for noise reduction, as jkoljo surmised. I've also read on the LB forum from a TAZ user that these bearings are actually designed to be press fitby NormandC - General

Hello Chicagoan, Just for your information, even the most expensive suppliers of filament for RepRap printers, which sell at $40-$50/kg (ABS/PLA) at the upper end, are many times cheaper than the big commercial companies. Filament cartridge for Stratasys machines go for $200/kg if not $250. Those cartridges have electronic chips that make it impossible to reload them with cheaper filament withouby NormandC - General
