HI Dave where can I get the dxf or dwg files? I have to manufacture locally here in RSA shipping etc is too much tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi There Yip I saw that, but the problem is to get it replaced if you are not in the UK, I`m in South Africa... RS electronics are TOPs but do not keep stock of parts like the HEAT BED... Designing my own seems to be a good alternative and pretty simple but pricey... *Hope fully IAN will ship free of charge Tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi Ian I`m in South Africa how can I get the replacement bed.... as my unit that I bought 3 months ago did the same... Tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
It is unfortunate that this happened, but I cannot believe the design... The contact point on the left side of the heatbed got so hot that it "burnt" the PCB to a crisp and melted the solder smoking allot ! I measure the bed, the resistance was spot on 1.2/1.3Ohms... no shorts.... yet the screw melted everything in its path I see on the new design this was changed to a contact spade lug..... My humble apology to ZPL It turns out that the culprit was many fold: 1- Under the silver "shield" foil I found a wire that was poorly cut and nicked by the supplier/assembler, this made direct contact to earth/shield..... and seems to have damaged the motor driver hence the problem was enhanced when I pushed up the current from 800 to 1000 on the Y-axis....this popped the chip 2- The other issuby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi All I downloaded the latest RepRapFirmware-108f-zpl.bin a week ago... I still use pronterface to drive my printer BUT after installing the firmware things went SOUTH..... as soon as the printer started to do a fill in it would vibrate the table excessively and skip some steps, offsetting the y axis by as much as 10mm!! Believe it or not but this "blew" some stepper drivers on the DUET(currentby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi All I want to find out which wire is best to replace the current kit wire with, it is VERY unreliable, heavy, thick and causes lots of connectivity issues I found that the wires place a lot of strain on the print head, also the "shielding" on the end are poorly applied. I also found some wires shorting due to poor kit quality...especially where the sheath was stripped. They cut trough the coreby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi Dave Tx for the post, you ask the right Q`s !! I can see you have been around the "bug finding block" QuoteWhat is your infill extrusion width and what speed are you printing at? I`m not with you on this one, Slic3r does not have infill extrusion width ? Extrusion speed is very slow I did not set the current to 1000, Will try that and see... Tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi Dave I use the stock standard config file, never changed it... FIRMWARE_NAME:RepRapFirmware FIRMWARE_VERSION:1.04e-dc42 ELECTRONICSuet (+ Extension) DATE:2015-04-09 SD printing. I see in the config file M574 X0 Y1 Z0 S1 ; set endstop configuration (Y endstop only, at low end, active high) Tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi All I`ve been through all the settings: 1- Calibrate the extruder steps so that it extrudes exactly 100mm (got to M92 E441) then it is spot on 2- Measured the filament 1.78mm or so But when I print the infills 100% ovelap 5% causes the gears to slip ie. trying to extrude to much material I then issue M221 S80 even sometimes I set it down to S50..... before it stops slipping... I must add thiby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi All Any Idea why the y-axis endstop is inveted ?? Endstops - X: not stopped, Y: at min stop, Z: not stopped When it pushes against the limit switch it says NOT STOPPED but during normal operations it says AT MIN STOP I can see the LED on the DUET light up when you manually push against it Is there maybe a setting I`m missing somewhere ? Tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi All I recently removed the kapton completely and sprayed the plasticote directly on the hot glass, I then wipe the coating with the acitone and bobs you're uncle. . The pla sticks very well and after cooling you remove the plate and a light tap on the sides and the part dislodge. Bigger parts takes a bit more effort, also the finish on layer 1 is perfect, mirror like. Just beware, the gap beby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi Dave OK I think I found the issue, yes indeed it is a combination of Slic3r then pronterface Slick3r exports the file to a Gcode file, but now I see that sometimes it takes a while to export to Gcode then it seems while it is still exporting and I load the file in Pronterface it only loads partially Hence only part of the file is loaded and hence uploaded to the SD card Then it only prints thby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi Dave, tx I will try the M119 setting however I`m a bit confused here, the Config file says one thing and the documentation another P2 is for a modulated probe, P1 for unmodulated type.... QuoteGcode in config *** If you have a modulated IR probe with on-board microcontroller, change P2 to P1 in the following M558 P2 ; Use a simple modulated Z probe (change to P1 foby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi All Is there a way to check if the DUET board actually detects the Y-End Stop ? by this I mean is there a way to get feedback from the firmware to indicate when "end-stop switch closed" "end-stop switch not closed" I want to manually check that the end-stop is detected by the FW, M574 X0 Y1 Z0 S1 is set in config.g but still my duet ignores the end stops. I can see the LED on the PCB turn onby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi All FYI I found that the parts were wearing a bit especially the z rod and nut so I looked as some lubricants I have found that good old petroleum Jelly AKA Vaseline ... works 100% on the unit, I applied some to the linear bearing, feed rod and extruder gears. No nasty smell like grease, keeps its lube value in cold and hot conditions and can easily be cleaned off if need be And its cheap a liby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi there this is the finished ABS litho print as it lays flat on the kapton heat bed seen from the side 50x50mm tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi There, any one else with this issue ?? S1 is not recognized... I did the following: - Downloaded RepRapFirmware-108d-zpl.bin - Then downloaded the WEB interface as is - Copied the DEFAULT.g to CONFIG.g, changed the IP addr...thats all for now - Erased the OR2, did a reset - Loaded the file via BOSSAC - All 100% Now I connect via the WEB interface, all 100% the OR is connected now I click onby BenBB - Ormerod

Hi there I did the following: I downloaded the whole GIT from DC42`s GIT, then I copied all the files under www to the SD card Tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi Dave Yes DC42-104e, Are the results immediate or delayed... Tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi Dave I`m not sure why, this is my first attempt at the WEB interface, I use the DC42-V1.04e The printer responds to all the inputs from the WEB except the Head1 control, it shows active, I type in a value 195 then it pops back to 0 the bed gets hot at the sets temp but not the head I then loaded a file and suddenly it responded... why is that ? I would like to "pre-heat" the head and then loadby BenBB - Ormerod
HAHAHA Dave you hit the nail on the HEAD !! (I do have 5litres of ACETONE on hand, I use it to clean the bed....) No smell from my ABS material though BUT I printed the CURA robot and then did the "boiling frog" trick, just out of curiosity 2 days ago, BEFORE I knew it was ABS, I thought but the this PLA comes out very nice with acetone what gives, I though PLA is acetone resistant So yes thiby BenBB - Ormerod
Mnnn zombiepantslol has unfortunately answered one of my concerns, USB interface, because I still use Pronterface and not the WEB interface yet and USB is very important as fall back, so this is of concern to me.... Yes I have been using SLIC3R all the time however I find with the "latest" SLIC3R they admit "bugs can occur" they indeed do, the app simply close if you set the temperatures in someby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi All Valid comments, however... Yes I agree, there are other symptoms at play here, the PLA seems to be a BIG culprit ! I got a roll with the printer, it printed VERY well, then I bought 2 rolls from RS electronics, the brand is from a UK manufacturer, it is rubbish ! I will not buy it again, I bought white and Orange It is VERY stringy, and oozes allot, I tried from 185 all the way to 210degCby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi All (I only post this here because of the Ormerod support from the community) Can anyone tell me if the Simplify3D is worth buying for the Ormerod 2 ? and is it "fully" compatible or at least customize-able to support the machine They talk allot about it, but one cannot download a demo and to spend money on it and not get proper results ! Tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi All Just an update on this post, I have now taken the process one step further, after spraying the "hot" 56dC bed with the Plasticote, I take a very damp Acetone cloth and "smear" the coat to a thin layer... this works better than the thick layer as I battled to remove parts from the thicker directly sprayed layer, they STICKED TOO WELL If you now look at the kapton surface in the light youby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi Dave I make use of Pronterface, I first load the file, then upload to the SD card, then Print from SD by selecting the uploaded file... I will keep an eye in it, it hasn`t happened, it could be some of the above... it is always hard to fault find if things happen randomly, and not regularly Tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
Hi All Can anyone tell me the correct way to use the M221 command Is it M221 Sxxx or M221 xxx I cannot seem to get results, although I have switched Slic3r`s relative off The printer accepts the setting, but I cannot seem to detect thinner wall, even at M221 S50 !! Tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
I canfirm it is not the gcode. I reset everything and reloaded the files. 1.2Mb... then printed again and this time it printed all the way as expected... I was just wondering if someone else found it as well. It was printing from the sd card. Not the pc. I always print from the sd card. Tx Benby BenBB - Ormerod
