in SF41+ yes as long as e_steps_per_mm is input properly in the firmwareby ECSuyu - General
Thanks John, I recall seeing RepG at your house as you were scaling it with ease. I might go that route but think there must be an easier alternative. I found that openSCAD can do scaling pretty easily with the following code: scale([ 0.5, 0.5, 0.5 ]) //X,Y,Z scale {import_stl("G:file_name.stl", convexity = 5);} so I might just give this a shot.by ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
so at the last meet I had mentioned that I used the "scale" tab within skeinforge to attempt at reducing sizes of my prints...well as Brad and Wally pointed out thats more for compensation of bad E_STEPS_PER_MM in the firmware and not so much for size reduction or expansion. So as the title of the thread, what are people using for scaling prints so they print smaller and faster.by ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
With my techzone remix Im going a constant 50mm/s perimeter and infill prints are nice though take a tad longer. EDIT: electronics set ramps 1.2 with marlinby ECSuyu - General
Brad if the meet is still happening is it still at the usual time of 7pm? Im guessing as of right now it'll be just the 3 of us.by ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
I dont know about compensating for it in the firmware as I actually had the same issue as you at one point. It happened to be my pin0 was showing no resistance upon replacing the arduino it was fixed. But make sure nothing is shorting out, because if thats the case it'll just happen again.by ECSuyu - Reprappers
the only way is to cut the pin going to your pin0 from your ramps and reroute it to one of the pins thats not being used. A good and easy to test and make sure its the arudino is to check the resistance with a multimeter when the arudino is powered on. the input pins should have a resistance reading if its working if not it'll read 0by ECSuyu - Reprappers
I would echo brnrds suggestion, try posting a photo of your extruder it'll give us a better idea of whats going on. Also make sure the thermistor is in contact with the heater block not just free floating in the hole as well. And just a question what is the ambient temperature? though it shouldnt matter.by ECSuyu - Reprappers
do you have a fan pointing at the hotend? mine which is exactly the same can push well above 250C. If I have a fan which isnt directed at the cold it the heater tops out at 230-235. with the air directed only at the cold end it again reaches anywhere I want it to. make sure in the firmware you have the 100K thermistor selected, as well check to see if your 6.8ohm resistor has room to wiggle in tby ECSuyu - Reprappers
it all depends on which one you use some CPU thermal compound are liquidy while others are more paste like. Im using the arctic silver 5 it works wellby ECSuyu - Reprappers
I use the exact same heater block from mixshop. What i did was put thermal compound between the 6.8 ohm resistor and the block itself. It takes roughly about 2-3 mins and its at 230Cby ECSuyu - Reprappers
duncan try activating the dimension tab to get the extruder to turn. As for centering, it's in the multiply tab, you can off set it to the middle of the print bed by setting X=100 Y=100. Ive never tried putting SF into pronterface. I usually just run them individually and it works flawlesslyby ECSuyu - Reprappers
For some reason I think there is somewhere I have to be on the 23rd so I might not be able to come to this next meet. If I can make it, Im fine with either but I think we should only book the location if enough people are going to show up with enough machines other wise its not really worth it.by ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
a hands on meet would definitely benefit people who dont have machines and its just fun to stare at the machine printing. If the number of people coming to these meets are the same every time it would be worth while looking into renting a location for the night at a community centers or alike places. I'll still ask about SFU surrey and see if I can get a few profs to do something, but chances witby ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
I know John is coming, as for Wally you probably know more than I do. See everyone around 7by ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Hi Paul, hopefully you can make it this time. 6pm on portmann is not too bad especially east bound. But if you dont want to take Hwy 1 you can go through pattullo bridge and via 96ave. heres a possible route that avoids hwy 1 starting from pattulo: (colossus langley is where boston pizza is) Eugeneby ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. When i started sprinter I loaded every possible firmware onto it and it all worked. I am now using the following toolchain FW: merlin Host: Pronterface Skeinning: SFACT merlin is just sprinter with path look ahead and is a little more in the experimental stage for non gen6 electronics. Ive been printing great with it no problem at all. Ive also used repsnapper as a host to push SF41 files toby ECSuyu - RAMPS Electronics
from what I know that is usually where the hotend of the extruder goes to when heating up and pre-purge the nozzle. Correct me if Im wrong I would like to know as well.by ECSuyu - Reprappers
Im fine with anywhere really. Would be great to have 1 meet and chat and 1 meet and play with machine. Surrey is out of my reach in terms of finding a location for places we can setup machines, short of finding peoples houses of course. A possibility is renting a space at a community center or alike that would allow us to bring our repraps and print with. Though I have no idea how much that wby ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. our own forum! awesome! I am down for the 9th. I think every 2nd Wednesday isn't bad as it is. It gives everyone who wants to join a consistent day they they can put aside for the get together as opposed to having to see which day the get together lands on from the every 4 week thing. Also have we looked into possible places that will allow us with printers to print our printers? I know John haby ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
hey guys, I am adding a heated bed to my mendel with ramps V1.2 ,I have the techzone heated bed made from PCB. Im currently using marlin with pronterface/repsnapper but no matter if i connect the heated bed or not it shows a constant 357. Im a little confused as to what is going on let me know what you guys think and thanks.by ECSuyu - RAMPS Electronics
the sky is the limit to the last question regarding tweaking. What I find is you'll probably get it to print reliably first at a certain layer height. After that you might want to look at possibly decreasing the layer height so you can get a finer resolution. The rest of the tweaking is really understanding SF and what parameters in there does to the printby ECSuyu - Reprappers
I've calibrated Z with trying to use the steps to pitch ratio and I've also calibrated with the same method as X and Y. I prefer to calibrate the Z the same way as the other 2. What i did was took 3200/1.25 = 2560 and just did the same thing as X any Y, set it to move 100mm and divide it by the actual steps moved. and then multiply it to 2560. I prefer this way over finding out pitch and stepby ECSuyu - Reprappers
hey jeff, inside sprinter you will find a chunk of code float axis_steps_per_unit[] = {80, 80, 3200/1.25,700}; this is where you calibrate the {x, y, z, e} tell pronterface to move the axis 100mm and then measure the actual mm moved. now divide the 2 numbers and multiply it to the number in the firmware. heres an example for X: [100 mm (desired movement)/ 45mm(actual movement)] x 80 = 177.7by ECSuyu - Reprappers
wow ok ya i must be blind or something haha, well todays meet is over and time to plan and see if we can get more to join us for the next one. I will get my mendel fixed and printing before then!by ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
To anyone who knows Brad? haha, Im assuming that the meet is at 7pm like last time as there was no time set. Just confirming and also letting anyone interested know what time they should be at BP by tonight.by ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C. RUG
Last minute reminder! See you all tonight. Paul its too bad you wont be making it tonight, as of right now we usually meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month unless something changes. So most likely the next one will be Nov.9th. I've been thinking about an online place for us to meet, somewhere that would allow us to still communicate with each other in much more "real time" than forums, possiby ECSuyu - Canada, Fraser Valley B.C.
