** SOLVED ** This is done with the latest Marlin instalment, RC8. In the Next release it will be part of Marlin.by DesignSmurf - Developers
1.2.9 but the bug has been in there for some time. prints good without spiral. and the custom change filament also works now. just not with a spiral vase code!by DesignSmurf - Developers
I got it working slicing with relative E... Not a very nice option but it's okay. Unfortunately Slic3r has a Bug using Relative E and spiral vase, it produces a weird seam. Thank you very much! I am still looking into finding a way to use a Variable as an Gcode value as this would give me much more freedom to finetune the material change.by DesignSmurf - Developers
Hi Dc42 I was thinking about that, but how to move to X3 Y3 from a relative position during the print. And return back to the initial position after the filament change?by DesignSmurf - Developers
Hi all, a question related to Marlin Firmware and the M600 change filament command. the change filament M600 works, but I need a slightly different set of commands to run a filament change. I have tried to do this with a custom menu item and a couple of ' enquecommand ' lines to perform the necessary steps Unfortunately it doesn't work all the way. Maybe you can provide me a solution... the fault was in the wiring of the stepper motor? I was under the impression that with a wiring error the driver would burn out. but its good to hear they are stronger then I thought. good luck with calibrating! y.by DesignSmurf - RAMPS Electronics
if is groud loop, what is the common solution to solve this problem (other then printing from sd)..?by DesignSmurf - RAMPS Electronics
So,Okey, Yes, This is an old and known problem with Ramps. Something with shielding, faraday cages, and ferrite blocks. Vacuum cleaners somewhere in the house being turned on and any other noise on the grid. That is disappointing. My other printer is using a GEN 6 board, Never had any issues with RF or USB connection loss. If I had known this I would have gone for Printrboard.. Now I have to dby DesignSmurf - RAMPS Electronics
another update on a print fail after 1h43min: Pronterface gives error: Can't write to printer (disconnected?) (SerialExeption: Write timeout Pronterface also halted (I had to type the lines above) The USB is connected straight to the laptop I have no clue what's going on! restarting pronterface and try to connect: Could not connect to COM9 at baudrate 250000: Serial error: could not openby DesignSmurf - RAMPS Electronics
Yes ! it worked. thanks. 12v power cable for one of the arduino cooling fans was near the sd cable. removing it solved the garble. Still having trouble with connection loss between the pc and the printer...by DesignSmurf - RAMPS Electronics
I can see the turned wires try set the revs for your z axis really slow. in the end that is what helped me figure out (another problem) with the Zby DesignSmurf - RAMPS Electronics
No standard flat pair that came with the package.by DesignSmurf - RAMPS Electronics
No polarity. But older RAMPS need a closed signal when not triggered. the one I now use needs an closed signal when triggered. how long are your cabels? did you twist each signal pair? it will help reduce interference in your signal. I never had to adjust the settings in sprinter as I only use a single endstop for each axis. can you post a pic of your printer these are my endstop stats (prontby DesignSmurf - RAMPS Electronics
I am getting strange stuff on my lcd this morming. this is visible while I am printing, the... stuff... changes shape as if it is updating during the print ??? y.by DesignSmurf - RAMPS Electronics
Did you invert the endstops,? Does the home button in pronterface work? or the individual home bottons for x y z ? did you check your wire connections. I had the humming noise and fixed it by adjusting the connectors on the board.by DesignSmurf - RAMPS Electronics
I cant revert to the old pronterface... The system won't let me. I'm getting an error. short update. I just rewired the printer to eliminate the interference with the endstops. I now twisted al the wires in separate pairs and it looks like that solved the problem. However, the print still stops randomly. just now it halted again. I can't connect with pronterface. I could connect wit arduino 1.0.5-r2 so I re-uploaded the firmware after which I can connect with pronterface again??by DesignSmurf - RAMPS Electronics
Hi, I have finished my new printer. And it worked the first print (see youtube link below) I still have some issues with interference on the cables towards the endstop signal but once printing that shouldn't matter(?). Problem is that every print after this first one just stops randomly and after every stop I have to reboot the connected laptop before I can reconnect with Ramps. Hi. I finished the printer! I am going to use it to print with clay. The bed size is 100x60 cm Print size is 80x60x85 cm And a youtube link for printer in actionby DesignSmurf - Reprappers
Hi dick. I finally did the calculation for the spindle. As you said, the thing would move less than 3mm per second. So I went for a 1Nm 2A Nema23 to give the force I need. Dropped the spindle and changed the design to use a pully. I just put in the final order and will receive stuff next week. I have been changing the Y rail and stuff. I'ts not as bad as I expected. To move in the Y direction Iby DesignSmurf - Reprappers
I could replace the thread with this one? would that speed things up enough for this stepper motor to work properly? I can't find the pitch of it so I'm not sure. Would be easy, then I can order the motor, the connector to the rod the fixed bearing the bal-screw and the endbearing all at once. I just hope the torque on this nema23 is big enough for the forces coming with the faster speeds.by DesignSmurf - Reprappers
@ cnc dick Where did you order your KL23H-256-20-6A stepper motor? thanks.by DesignSmurf - Reprappers
Pitch is 3mm, 12mm shaft. Can I just replace a nema 17 for a nema 23? (after changing the faceplate to adjust for the bigger size) I didn't know I could use that motor type with Ramps. And can I keep using the nema 17 for the rest of the setup or do I have to replace them all? this Y-motor is the only stationary motor. size doesn't matter. I would like to keep the rest as light as possible. sby DesignSmurf - Reprappers
It's a single Z arm printer with the Y axis moving the X and Z along the print space. The X and Z weight together with motors and other stuff is about 5KG. the Y motor has to move all this. I was hoping by adding a motor I would have extra control over the movement. I could also switch to a printrboard Rev D if the output of that board would give more amp to the motors?by DesignSmurf - Reprappers
Jinx, Do you use arduino + ramps with an A4988 driver? Did you have to do anything else but split the wires and connect the motors?by DesignSmurf - Reprappers
The Y on this setup is sliding on dual linear guides about 900mm long and it's moved with a threaded rod. I am planning to put the extra stepper motor on the other end of the threaded rod and wire it so it runs in reverse. The load on the Y can go up to 5 kg and it proves to much for 1 motor.... I just hope it works better under full load with an extra motor installed.by DesignSmurf - Reprappers
Hi, Just a short question: I need more power to move the Y travel. Can I safely connect a second motor (with a split cable) to double power output on a ramps A4988 stepper driver? I am using a 60 mm NEMA 17, 1.5A , 4V , Torque: 0.65N.m. motor. Thanks.by DesignSmurf - Reprappers
Hi, I am designing a system to control the flow (or not to flow) of a clay extruder. So far everything works fine but now I need to activate it in sync with the general extruder signal going to the (gen6) board. Especially the filament reversing signal is the one I am hoping to use as it gives an automatic delay in head movement. My setup does not need the motor for the extruder. I could theoreby DesignSmurf - Mechanics
