I would say Its not the product It's you but really It's both. I personally have built several hybrids that work just fine. But they worked much better as two separate machines. Open source companies with good designs have done better than many closed source companies even with other people using similar designs. The whole point of open source is to give credit to the builder and improve upon thby REPRAP SQUAD - General
I know of some guys that did a similar project using a Picaso micro controller with marlin and a pronterface style UI. I am currently working on a 7" screen for my Printrbot Nintendo ed. I am debating whether to use raspberry pi or a custom version of arduino, atmega. Its in the works but I do have it setup to be controlled with my original NES controller. Good ideas. Ya they took those cable chains from cnc use. They are used on almost every cnc. They do help your wiring against internal fraying as well as keeping everything repeatable. I just don't know that with this use if its more of a benefit or a downfall.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
I'm not sure of your exact question: depending on your extruder they are typically broken into two main parts the hot end and the cold. The cold end consists of a nema 17 stepper, a larger gear, a smaller gear, washers, nuts, hobbled bolt and mounting bolts. The hot end is a little more difficult because there are so many different designs. If you have any other questions feel free to message me.by REPRAP SQUAD - Reprappers
I agree I thought they had some well thought out good ideas but a really small print platform especially for the size of the machine. I can almost bet that the cost will be at least in the $2-3k mark. I just like to see the new things that are being developed. It always gives me ideas of ways to build mine better. I kinda like the water cooled hot end, but things like that take up space and waterby REPRAP SQUAD - General

@ Leorex I get what you are saying and great points. I ran into similar problems when extending my axis on my printrbot build. I had to do quite extreme customizing for my z axis and my printrbot is no where near the height of yours. In order to reach those heights printrbot should have completely redesigned a printer instead of making it an add-on. I think its more like to say we can instead ofby REPRAP SQUAD - General
I was just thinking about it and he calls it easy maker. Yet himself calls it complicated and says that his own BOM is enormous and expensive. I don't get it.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
After much research I have decided to change my belt setup for the print table. Due to the added size I think I need to rethink belt, motor and motor idler bearings position. I've noticed that this can be an issue for standard size printrbots and is definitely an issue as you extend the axis on the bed. Wobble is what it is commenly referred to as. I've decided to make it an option on mine whetheby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
I agree. The part that really bothers me is his claims that it is better than any other. He also says it is expensive and what he doesn't realize is that there are many people building repraps for a little amount of money that can out print machines that costs thousands of dollars. It seems he is putting more energy in his patents pending than actually researching the market to see the leaps andby REPRAP SQUAD - General
Peerbhai robotics says that easymakers low quality prints are better than all other Repraps out there. Quite a bold statement. It went to kickstarter and failed but why. He says that now with his secret patend it is sure to make it this time. Check out what he says:by REPRAP SQUAD - General

Donations are also currently being taken for all parts needed for a Printrbot that will donated to a local schools. I think that it is very important that kids get to learn how to build and operate repraps at a young age. They will learn so much from building, printing and maintaining their Printrbot. In turn the school will be printing parts for at least 3 more Printrbots. I already have some doby REPRAP SQUAD - Wanted
I to would like to modify my Xbox power supply due to the fact that I have 3 of them sitting around. Does anyone have any good or use full information on how well they work, amps, color codes, pin outs, and what you need to do to hook them up etc. Thanksby REPRAP SQUAD - Controllers
So I've decided to build a custom 7" flat screen display for my printrbot. This display will show real time info stream while printing as well as loading from SD card and eventually I will be able to adjust settings using it. I will be able to navigate the screen options and menus using my Nintendo controller. This controller also doubles as a manual jog controller. This build as of now will be oby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
Like you said sourcing your own parts over buying a kit offers a lot of positive things that you might not get with a kit. I kind of did both with my current build. I bought printed parts kit but sourced the rest of my parts. I decided to upgrade and fix all the downfalls of the kit version with my custom build. Keep me updated on your build and good luck. RepRap Squad has been doing a design for the last year and a half pertaining to the 5 axis reprap. We have been designing it for pan and tilt as you mentioned. It is going to be up for physical development soon. I will put it on a post as soon as I have some physical models for you guys to see. I love old skool stuff like atari, Nintendo and hammer pants. So I figured I would implement my old skool Nintendo controller for manually jogging the print head. This doesn't neccisarily have a real use, but I thought why not it looks cool and I know how to do it from my Cnc builds. The only difference with 3D printing is that for this use I will need to add another port for communicating with tby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
Its not a bad way to do it. I have built several 3D printers but My favorite is My current build. I got printed Printrbot parts for super cheep on eBay which came with a Wade's extruder. Then I took apart several printer's and scanners to get parts like: polished smooth rods, end stop switches, bushings, and many more useful parts. The printrbot platform is nice cause it let's you extend all 3 aby REPRAP SQUAD - General
Ya your good. About 11 amps is the minimum but like He said you definitely need some overhead. Otherwise you will have inaccurate bed and nozzle temps. Your power supply is perfect from what I can tell.by REPRAP SQUAD - General
I have built several machines and My favorite to date is the printrbot. I'm also doing a custom build though of the printrbot. What I like about the printrbot is that you can extend all the axis fairly easily. You can Check out My build as well at My link. I started the rough layout for the print bed. I can already tell I need to reinforce it. Which shouldn't be a problem, I just need to come up with a design that works for me. I looked through everything everywhere to find a good Z axis joiner. I needed something I could remove easily for transport or adjustments and I really couldn't find anything that was light and strong. So I went back to the drawing board. After sketching up a couple of ideas that where way more complicated than they needed to be. It hit me, the saying: " Keep it stupid, simple." So that's what Iby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
I finally got my fan mounted and dialed in. Its fully adjustable with 190 degrees of movement. I used a simple hinge that is bi-mounted to the extruder mount. I used a fairly small fan and it runs at 12v. I have the fan ran through a 4-way fan controller so it has a wide range of cfm it can put out. I have another mount, hinge, fan and bi-mount so I'm debating mounting another fan on the other faby REPRAP SQUAD - Developers
