Hi Dust, I tried your sugestions to no avail, but I have managed to connect by using an earlier version of Marlin (2.0 bugfix) so it seems like a firmware issue. I had read about this on another forum. However I seem to have no control with pronterface, if I try to move an axis I just get a scream from my controller, but at least I have a connection now Regards, TerryDby TerryD15 - Printing
Hello VDX and DUST, Thanks for your comments I will investigate in the morning. I have not used the machine for some years and last week the HDD of the PC developed problems , wanting to carry out a chkdsk every time I started up,so I put in a new 1tb HDD (this PC is dedicated for printing) The old drive was removed and a new installation of WIN10 made. So to parody the Beatles Penny Lane itby TerryD15 - Printing
Hi, I've ugraded my PC to win 10 and am running the latest versions of Marlin and Pronterface. My Marlin firmware configuration compiles and uploads to Arduino. However when I try to connect Pronterface it just hangs on the 'connecting' message. I'm using the correct (only) port - 3 for both my uploading of firmware and pronterface connection, both configured to run at 25000 baud. I've usedby TerryD15 - Printing
Hi, I have a DIY i3 style printer built in the true spirit of RepRap sometime around 2012. I printed with it succesfully for a few years, but for all sorts of reasons I left it alone for a while. A couple of years ago I added a sensor to enable auto bed levelling/tramming but it gave me a few problems at the time. Then work called me and my wife away from home for a year or so, so once again thby TerryD15 - General
Hi, My printer, a self build Mendel / i3 has been upgraded to abl using an inductive sensor and Marlin Bugfix 2.0.x. Z axis homes to zero just about 0.4 mm above bed as it should. However when it starts to print the nozzle tries to print at around 7.25mm above bed. The intended print seems to be sliced ok (Slic3r) and my Configuration.h has been 3rd party checked and I'm pretty sure that it'sby TerryD15 - General Mendel Topics
Hi Robert, Thanks for the confirmation, I thought that it was ok but was bug eyed after spending ages looking for problems. The problem of the nozzle sitting too high still has me confused as the gcode from the slicer (Slic3r) seems ok. It's a perplexing problem as originally I used a traditional micro switch endstop on the Z axis and got good prints, perhaps I should just abandon ABL and go bby TerryD15 - General Mendel Topics
Hi all, I managed to resolve my last problem but another one has raised it's ugly head. My printer is set up with the correct nozzle offsets and when the printer homes the nozzle is just right, with the 'paper test' the paper is just snagged by the nozzle. However when I come to print, the nozzle tries to start printing at about 7.25 mm above the bed ( I used a stack of feeler gauges to get thby TerryD15 - General Mendel Topics
Hi, I'm not sure if this is the place for this problem as I'm not sure if it is a hardware or firmware one. I must admit that my self build printer is sulking, it used to print very well but no longer. I am ashamed to say that I have ignored it for some years but have a few projects that I want to make plus I have some time now to carry on with it. But it's behaving like my first wife when I fby TerryD15 - Firmware - Marlin
Hi, Some years ago I built and successfully used a 3d printer based on the Reprap i3 Mendel with ramps 1.4 and now with Marlin 2.0.x firmware and bed levelling with inductive probe. The X axis homes on the left and Y to the front. When homed the hotend nozzle is 35 mm to the left of the side of the bed. The bed is set to a size of 200 x 200. My problem is that the nozzle does not centre on tby TerryD15 - Firmware - Marlin

Hi, Working on updating home built DIY Mendel Prusa i3 clone with Marlin 2.0.3 and Ramps 1.4 controller. I need some technical help here. On my desktop PC I configured my newly downloaded copy of Marlin 2.0.3 today - I had cleared my PC of every Marlin file before installing the new version. I opened Marlin.ino in a newly installed Arduino IDE version 1.8.11. After configuring each item whicby TerryD15 - Firmware - Marlin
Hi, I run Marlin on a DIY reprap i3 cartesian printer which I built and ran successfully several years ago. I upgraded recently to Marlin 1.1.9(bugfix) which I configured with Arduino IDE 1.8.10. All functions worked correctly including the nozzle offset (-38 mm) as my X axis is wider than the bed. I then decided to add a BL Touch sensor for Automatic Beb Levelling. The sensor is offset Xby TerryD15 - Reprappers
Hi all, I hope that someone can help, perhaps someone who has had this problem and solved it. I built an i3 type RepRap quite a few years ago (around 2011) and it worked really well once I had the configuration.h sorted. I didn't use it then for a few years due to circumstances. It is a wooden framed one and inspired by the Makerfarm early model. I came back to it a couple of years ago and tby TerryD15 - General Mendel Topics
Hi, I'm having the same problem with Pronterface not connecting with just a bunch of garbage returned. Pronterface was working ok and then I fitted a supposedly NC, NPN (LJ18A3-8-Z/AY) inductive sensor (sensor LED was on when raised - i.e. - closed - and off when close to metal bed[) and set all endstops to false in Marlin as per config as my X and Y microswitch endstops ae both NC.
