Camiel @ Mendel-parts has managed to source some for stock in the new year. The 2mm could be a little large for the new 1.75 mm filament, but worth giving it a try. I'll place my order over Christmas so I'll let you know how I get on with it. Merry Christmas Everyone Richby richrap - Wanted

You should look at reprap.org and specifically - Mendel Hopefully this should give you a good idea of what you will need to do to build one, or you can look at buying a complete built machine (but normally you would build it yourself so that way you can make it work well and fix it yourself). The layers are a feature of the way the models are built, these can be minimised by having a small layeby richrap - General
Parts can be complex... and also have a good surface finish and fine detail, but this all depends on how you have the machine setup, what filament size you are extruding, layer height and the resolution your machine can resolve along with backlash etc. My parts lack the same quality due to backlash in my extruder and to some extent very slow printing speed (causing small surface blobs). - It's aby richrap - General

Wow! That is one big RepStrap. Do you heat that entire Aluminium base? that's got to be 10+Kg of Alu How much power is that heatbed using? What is your print speed like and what ballscrews are you using? And finally is it all mounted on another massive chunk of Aluminium plate? I'm a bit gob-smacked... I though my repstrap was getting a bit heavy at 20KG. I'm not even going to guess what thby richrap - General New Machines Topics

Bowden Cable - PTFE / Teflon Tube If you have any or know where I can get some in UK/Europe please let me know. Thanks. Rich.by richrap - Wanted
Thanks. Anyone know of a UK or European source?by richrap - Extruded Aluminum Frames
I have used Techno-Weld a few times to join Aluminium tubes (with a blow-torch). And I remember it goes quite soft just before getting runny, you can build it up and smooth it down with a bit more heat. It's a low melt point Aluminium 'solder' 400+ Deg C - Techno-Weld It may be possible to extrude it? But it's going to need some invention and some new insulation materials (Glass / Ceramic?),by richrap - General
you should also be able to reduce the starting speed and max speeds in the firmware and it should all start working when you home in host it uses max speed defined in the FW also check your firmware as I think there was a bug that reversed the acceleration routine, ( it did exactly the reverse of what it should do) that got me a while back.by richrap - RepRap Host
Hello and welcome your English is fine, so take a look at reprap.org then look at the Mendel section of this forum. Expect to build up parts of Mendel, it's not really just a case of buying a fully working machine. You will need to be interested in how it works or you will have an expensive toy you may not be able to use. And I don't know of a single 3D printer that can extrude metal, but taby richrap - General

Hello, Hopefully you have NEMA17 motors? If the motors and drivers work fine when the belts are removed you may just have your current limit set low on the Extruder boards? Richby richrap - General Mendel Topics
Where did you get the GEN3 electronics from? - and have you made sure the Analogue GND is connected correctly on the Extruder board (some PCB's had a fault where it was not connected - German GRRF ones had this problem) and what you describe above was similar to one of the symptoms I observed without the AGND connected correctly. And you also make sure you have a good GND from the Extruder to tby richrap - Reprappers
Thanks, That is really neat. I think I'm going to try doing that on my new machine. Does anyone know where to get 3 or 4M of PTFE tube for the Bowden cable? - I can only find very expensive reels on Ebay and GRRF has not had any in stock for months. Is anyone an expert on Bowden extruders in this forum? I could do with some pointers. I guess the tube needs to be quite stiff and have a 1/4" IDby richrap - Extruded Aluminum Frames
It's looking interesting. I have two extruders working now, but I need a better way of mounting them together, at the moment it's just 2 x WADE design's back to back (one reversed) - I'm also getting side-tracked with rebuilding my machine and new electronics it's all good fun. I'm contemplating switching my new machine over to a dual Bowden extruder system so I can mount the heavy motors andby richrap - Plastic Extruder Working Group
My current and first Repstrap has a moving Gantry - fixed bed (I will document it one day !) but I have never used the full 250 x 500 this provides and it's very slow unfortunately. It has been very good to experiment with as I can just bolt down whatever material I like to the bed regardless of its weight or shape, this was good when testing bed materials and experimenting with a quick-and-dirtby richrap - Extruded Aluminum Frames
Hi AH I use these for many things including Reprap electronics - and they fit perfectly on GEN3 steppers, they are self adhesive (tape) - http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_2877.html 9mm ones are also available, they should fit on Pololu. You could use Aluminium ones, they cost less and do a good enough job - http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_2833.html Richby richrap - Controllers

Just use short bits of 16/.2 or 24/.2 wire or whatever copper wire you have around paperclips are steel. You need copper or tinned wire really.by richrap - Controllers
The spares are just bare PCB's I only had them as a backup, but didn't need to make them up. I should also not need my Gen 3 Electronics in about 2-3weeks time if I can get my new system to work correctly. If I were you I would just buy some Pololu steppers. You can always solder one into some strip-board and wire it up with a 10way box header and screw-terms so it looks like a Gen3.by richrap - Controllers
AgeingHippy -If you mess it up or just want another Stepper motor PCB, let me know I have some spare ones that I'm not going to use. You could just scratch away the solder resist from the Via, and solder a small wire out of the hole and lay it across where the IC leg should have been, just make sure you solder that one first. It's quite normal for electronics to be cleaned in water, many fluxes are designed to be water soluble. But it's also normal for no-clean flux to be used so no further processes are required after flow-soldering. You can just use a small stiff paintbrush and water or as Viktor stated IPA - IPA cleanerby richrap - Controllers
You can clean with solvent or water. Just make sure you dry the board if using water! As Nophead stated if you want to remove a SM device cut it out, don't try to unsolder it. Usually the only real reason for removing a SM device from a pcb is if it's faulty. Good luck.by richrap - Controllers
Yes Flux is the key to most SM soldering by hand. If you flux the device pins and PCB pads of say a SM connector or row of fine pitch SM pins on a Micro etc. then you can run a soldering iron along the row of pins along with plenty of solder (not solder paste) the flux will help stop the pins (even very fine pitch) from bridging with solder. if you get a few shorts don't worry just keep on goingby richrap - Controllers
It looks like too much material being extruded? - Have you adjusted your E_Steps_per_MM in the Firmware? - if so what value did you use? And maybe you are not reversing the stepper motor enough - in the hand picture you should not be getting all that string everywhere when using a WADE stepper.
