Eigentlich schon. Mein Linux ist sogar das Ubuntu, das der Adrian auch verwendet. Da ich auch dazu auch kein Thema im Forum gefunden habe, habe ich mal einen aufgemacht: . Hello all, in the German RUG we currently wonder how one would build a current version of the host software. There are instructions: , but dumbly following the click-here instructions doesn't work. Some buttons are not where expected, so the path breaks. I'm even using Ubuntu Linux, the same as Adrian's. I see no chance in getting this fixed in Eclipse. QuoteWhy do I need to buy a $4,000 CAD program to read "open-source" RepRap related blueprints? You don't. You can always ask the creator or a friend to do the conversion for you. 3D-DXF isn't, and probably never was, state of the art. AutoDesk's 3D product is Inventor (with yet another proprietary format). Ask for STL or (better) STEP files. The problem with mechanics is, there is no bash andby Traumflug - General

Hallo zusammen, da haben sich per PN ein paar interessante Aspekte ergeben. Da das nichts geheimes ist, hieve ich das einfach mal ins Forum. QuoteHow far on your Wolfstrap have you reached? Just finished building the bottom frame with the moving table on top of it. The frame went a bit bigger than designed by Wolfgang, the wood pieces are 650 mm and 500 mm long. This way, the table will never need more space than the bottom frame and you can put the machine right to the wall. Instead of the angle pieces, I used long wood screws 5.0xby Traumflug - Reprappers
DXF knows what a unit is, so it's a question of what the STL -> DXF converter does. Another option is to use the STEP files found at , i.e. ? Edit fixed the link.by Traumflug - 3D Design tools
The STL file format doesn't know the concept of measurement units. You have to tell the receiving application the STL is meant to be in millimeters. If you can't, simply shrink the parts by a factor of 25.4 .by Traumflug - 3D Design tools
Even if this solution were plain water, you'd at least pour the plastics into the environment. This isn't even allowed in Gemany and likely not in the whole European Community. Did nobody try to build break-off supports, yet? They're widely used in Stereolithography and even with the 3D Systems ThermoJet process (wax printing with an inkjet-printer type toolhead). Im Gegensatz zu Gips und Fasern könnte man das Harz aber mit einer Spritze und Nadel in die Form hinein injizieren. Fully agreed, Tiberius. I did the same decision, most of the practical work has to be done, yet. BTW., I'll use threaded bars intentionally, as I expect to keep the machine with a Dremel in the toolstock. Some 600 mm/minute isn't that bad for milling.by Traumflug - General

Hello all, we all know the STL file format has it's shortcomings (no color, no material, only flat triangles, ...). At Cornell University they're working on a successor of this format: . To be in fashion, they took XML ;-) For the rest, they have quite a few nice features integrated, even with future changes in mind. Best of the spec is: it fits into three to four pages. QuoteI just have a question. You mentioned before that the extruder has to be really fast, but the whole structure doesn't move really fast, so why is this necessary? Or you mean when you have a belt driven system? The faster the machine can move, the faster the extruder has to be. Reading this forum, most people have belt driven machines and are limited by extruder performance. With a threadedby Traumflug - Reprappers
QuoteSo if gcode is sent to the reprap, it should be easy to use an alternate controller for the reprap? Several different flavours of controllers exist already. People accustomed to the MakerBot set of forum/wiki/software/hardware don't recognize the RepRap one and vice versa. You quickly end up with problems solved twice.
