Finally solved. I used alot of different manuals to install this and ended up with export DISPLAY=:0 DISPLAY=localhost:0.0 where I deleted the export DISPLAY=:0 in nano editor and it worked. thnx for the assistance.by Mendel90 - Slic3r
I've tried the GUI with 'Xeyes' and it works. It looks like the XWinrc file is indeed the issue and Slic3r will open in the X window but immediately close again. Surely it's not the goal to start writing this RC file myself... I was thinking this file is maybe sitting in another folder but can not seem to find it. There is a system.XWinrc file but I don't think it is alowed to use this file andby Mendel90 - Slic3r
The problem is with the VcXsrv I'm using. It opens and then immediately closes. error log: Welcome to the VcXsrv X Server Vendor: The VcXsrv Project Release: 1.20.5.1 OS: Windows NT 6.2 build 9200 (64-bit) Contact: marha@users.sourceforge.net Cannot move old log fileby Mendel90 - Slic3r
I've looked up the error and it's suppose to be some write permission's I have to enable but no idea how to do this.by Mendel90 - Slic3r
I'm not an experienced linux user. I installed all this today because I need slic3r in linux to try out something new. I'm in the home directory in Bash and typed 'slic3r' and I get the following error: Segmentation fault (core dumped)by Mendel90 - Slic3r
Hi, I am trying to run Slic3r on WLS with Ubuntu 18 as the chosen package. Installing everything went quick and without any errors. I've installed slic3r with sudo apt-get slic3r and it installed right away but I have no idea where it has been installed, also freeglut and VcXsrv for viewing Slic3r in win10 has been installed and working. I have located the .Slic3r folder and slic3r.ini file butby Mendel90 - Slic3r
Hi, sorry for the late reply. The model is a reprap_discount_smart_controller. I found: #define INDIVIDUAL_AXIS_HOMING_MENU but it is not configurable in configuration.h The question is in wich file can I configure the individual homing sequences?by Mendel90 - Firmware - Marlin
After the Y endstop is hit, then the X starts to home interfering with the re-bump of the Y. No idea why the X wants to Home when I push Home Y. Some setting in marlin 1.1.8 I don't know about probably. Any ideas?by Mendel90 - Firmware - Marlin
1 step in the good direction. After changing #define Z_MIN_PROBE_ENDSTOP_INVERTING true, Z is not moving anymore when I push Home X. This leaves X homing during Y Home and Y homing in with the steppers still turningn after the Y endstop is hit the first time.by Mendel90 - Firmware - Marlin
Hi, I decided to upgrade my firmware to marlin 1.1.8 but when I try to home Y, I do not get what is expected. The Z will move a little and then stop, the X will home and then the Y carriage will bump in the endstop but the Y-motor keeps spinning, then the carriage will re-bump again against the endstop and the Y-motor will stop. The printer works perfect with 1.1.0 RC8! Why does the Y-motor noby Mendel90 - Firmware - Marlin
Thnx for your answers. Most people are focused on hardware here in the comments while this is basically a firmware compatibility issue between 2 different versions of Marlin. I will be opening a new post in the Marlin section.by Mendel90 - CoreXY Machines
I know, I don't really have a direction problem. Everything is going into the right direction. I have read that in marlin 1.1.8 something has changed in the kinematics but cannot find what and where to make changes. If I put 1.1.0 RC9 back on the printer everything works perfect.by Mendel90 - CoreXY Machines
I know they are supposed to bump but the X and Z should not be moving and the Y motor should not keep turning (with rapid hammering sound)for 2 seconds before the re-bump happens. With home Y, Z will move first, then X will home and then Y. Only Y should move. It's like a semi -Home all on the Home Y. This does not happen on Home X and Home Z wich will move individually. Recently I had to print a part wich needed to be printed with support in places wich made it a nightmare to remove later and even worse, decreased the final outcome of the print. The solution in this case would have been: printing support filament wich completely dissapears when in water(PVA?) Therefore I would need a second extruder on my Mendel. Me question is: Has anybody build themselvesby Mendel90 - Mendel90
Neil, I am not sure what a tracking controller is but I do know that the Volcano is a normal hotend with a longer melting zone, not requiring special electronics. When printing you slightly increase the temp compared with a E3d or other type hotend because the plastic is moving faster compared with the normal hotends with a shorter meltzone. This afternoon I experienced the same issue but it happened mid-print. My Led light went out and printing stopped. To my big surprise the PSU kept going. When I measured the Voltage I only got 2.5V instead of 12V. I restarted but a few minutes after I put the heaters on the printer went down again. When I looked closer I saw that the plastic on the ground connector had melted. The printer has bby Mendel90 - Mendel90
Hi, I know i responded in a Ramps thread but i have build a mini kossel with Rumba board. Since the instructable is about a xyz 3d printer build with cd drives using ramps it's not usefull to me. Thnx for the input anyway!!by Mendel90 - RAMPS Electronics
Apparently I had to turn my stepper drivers! I never found a manual how to put them on so I tought this was worth a try. However my axes are not moving like they should. Homing does not work... I can move the axes seperatly but that's about it.by Mendel90 - RAMPS Electronics
Hi, Unfortunately no solution is given in this thread since I'm having the ecact same issue on my mini-kossel using Marlin and Rumba board so I hope I can go ahead and build on to this. My endstops are correct when I engage them with M119. They are triggered when I push the endstops and open when not engaged. I am able to connect with pronterface and send commands and receive feedback. The mby Mendel90 - RAMPS Electronics
I have available the PLA parts for the frame of a Kossel XL. The parts are printed to be very strong as the frame has to be very sturdy. This is for extrusions 20x20. If you live in Belgium or neighboring country's, I can also provide the parts for the Mendel90 in ABS or the Kossel mini. Just check out my 3d hubs to see my credentials. Thnx alot.by Mendel90 - Plastic RepRap Parts for Sale
Hi, Your chip could be bricked. All I know is you could unbrick with Linux following the link Dust has provided and the re-install the drivers with manual method described above.by Mendel90 - General
Hi Neil, Thnx for pointing that out as I wasn't sure about this but he also wrote this: QuoteThis effect is occuring to some extent even while leaving the Z axis motors enabled. In any case it doesn't do any harm. If my parts would give me bad results compared with the normal layer height I wouldn't be using it.by Mendel90 - Mendel90

I have printed the x idler bracket and I'm printing the x motor bracket now. Print was finished in 2,5 hours wich is pretty good I think. I only had to change the filament size to 1.75 and layer height 0.19375 wich is a value I got from Prusa's calculator. Thnx alot!by Mendel90 - Mendel90
Very intersting thread! I'm using an 0.4 nozzle so I'm definetly going to try your profile.by Mendel90 - Mendel90
First off all Merry Christmas to everyone! I'm trying to slice the x idler bracket and x motor bracket with Skeinforge from within repetier host. The parts look very bad. The left wall of the x idler bracket is completely missing and most of the layers are not there after slicing. I have taken the settings found on the Mendel90 github for skeinforge from the profile found there. Normally I doby Mendel90 - Mendel90
