It depends on your definitions of x,y, and z. If you're defining them as the towers, then all three must move. If you're defining them as Z=vertical movement, X= left/right, and Y=front/back, then only Z moves. Smoothieware uses the later definition.by etfrench - Delta Machines
I think 2020 extrusions will be a bit skimpy. Have you done any calculations of how rigid the towers need to be? I used 2550 extrusions on my delta with a slightly smaller bed radius (310mm diameter). Misumi sells machined extrusions.by etfrench - Delta Machines
Before printing on pvc, I'd check to see at what temperature it starts off gassing chlorine.by etfrench - Reprappers

Do you have links to quality ball ends with large enough range of motion?by etfrench - Delta Machines
I can't detect any wiggle in my shop built mag joints which have PTFE cups inside aluminum housings. They were also considerably less expensive than any even mediocre quality rod end. Whether you use mag joints or ball ends, you still need to bolt one end to the effector. The potential for misalignment is the same for both. My effector was made on a CNC machine and distances between all of tby etfrench - Delta Machines
StepperOnline sells on Amazon, Ebay, Aliexpress, and their own website. I've never had a problem with any of the stepper motors I've purchased from them.by etfrench - General
The tail side needs to be constrained from rotating and free to move along the axis. It's not clear in your second image whether or not the teeth on the tail are engaged with the teeth on the main nut.by etfrench - General
I'm currently using a Teensy 3.5 (Arduino compatible) microprocessor with the TeensyStep library to do synchronized steppers. I'd be interested in your firmware.by etfrench - General
No reason not to use both magnets and springs. Magnets hold the joints together for ease of assembly and springs keep them together with more force.by etfrench - Delta Machines

Keenova sells genuine Fotek SSRs on ebay (at least they did when I purchased the heater from them).by etfrench - Reprappers
I've been using this one from Keenova on my delta for three+ years. It doesn't pay to get the cheapest when the risk of a fire is fairly high.by etfrench - Reprappers
Due to the limited space, I would recommend printing the belt profile on the locking piece and use machine screws to hold the sandwich together.by etfrench - General
Not french, US. There's plenty of room in the channel for the belt and a locking piece. The channel is 5.1mm wide, so the belt will need to be smaller than that if you want it to ride at the top of channel. You could also mill or file the channel wider to take 6mm belt (Wood routers and tablesaws handle aluminum fine, just noisy and a little more dangerous. Aluminum needs to more securely heldby etfrench - General
Just make a sandwich of a printed part which has the same profile of the belt, the belt, and an extension of the linear slide carriage. Use machine screws to hold it all together. The printed part and the belt should fit inside the extrusion. p.s. What extrusion are you using? Can you provide a 3d model of the extrusion?by etfrench - General

Perhaps the lost horizontal volume is made up by the increased vertical volume. Can you live with the decreased horizontal volume? p.s. There are online delta calculators that will give you accurate print areas and volumes.by etfrench - Delta Machines
Quotecwaa How do you know you are my peer?????? I would guess you have much less education and experience than I do. You seem to guess wrong a lot Where is your documentation for trillions spent?by etfrench - General
Quotecwaa Why does there need to be an alternative? Why use a process that doesn't work. Its a waste of time and resources. We have spent trillions on stupid green and climate projects that have failed. BUT, they were peer reviewed...……….. How did science survive 80 years ago before peer review. I'm reviewing your post and find it doesn't have any valid data in it Observe that peer reviewby etfrench - General
On the other hand, with a little more engineering, one may be able to print a serviceable gun. How effective would one need to be in a small aluminum tube at 40,000 feet?by etfrench - General
It depends on if you're copying a copyrighted design (or a portion of a copyrighted design) or not. If you are, you can still make and sell the printer, but you could be sued or jailed. If not, have you created a business plan? Do you have a business license? Can you afford the insurance if one of your printers burns down a home?by etfrench - General
Quoteo_lampe @jarjar @TheBlight Where's the proof? You both are fresh members and I'm suspecting conspiracy here. Someone hired "influencers" to spread bad news about robotdigg? I wonder how much they paid dc42??by etfrench - Delta Machines
Why does the 3d printing community specify stepper motors by their body length instead of torque and current?by etfrench - Delta Machines
I used 2550 extrusions for a meter high delta with 310mm diameter bed. Printer is all metal, no plastic. Top and bottom are torsion boxes which makes the printer extremely rigid. 1. Rod length will depend on whether your bed is inside the horizontals between the towers or extends outside. 60/20 degree rule applies either way. 9. Optical endstops will be more accurate than microswitches. 11. Kby etfrench - Delta Machines

What is your relationship with stronghero3d?by etfrench - General
Here's the photobucket album. The machine is similar to Microcarve's BBox. The X and Y carriages are cast polyurethane. The rails are 25mm unsupported shafts from Misumi with Oilite bushings. Leadscrew nuts were formed from Acetal and there is no backlash. No scavenging in the build. Total price was under $500.by etfrench - General
My CNC router cost less than $500 including the water cooled spindle and vfd. It's rigid enough to cut aluminum.by etfrench - General
