Yeah. Supply and demand... and enterprising. I think there's another word for that. I just bought from Ultimachine (a week ago) and was disappointed to have to buy 5lbs not spooled. No biggy though. I figured I'd spool a little at a time until they had spools again, buy a second spool and keep my coil for emergencies. So I look today and see this 50% increase business. Hmm... Very cool! You could probably use your model to make molds for casting. I'm working on an accessory mount for a little Keltec P3AT. I'll put up pics when I'm done. Still designing it. It's cool to see these machines being used for various real world applications. Firearms offer a lot of opportunity for development. I even printed a special routerbase a few weeks ago. Worked great, but I didn'by Skypuppet - General

This conversation is kind of funny. No disrespect to any parties at all. Its just that I had recently posted some files on thingiverse and got the beat down for not using openscad. People couldn't use my stl's and thought that I was wrong for not using the adopted format. I use solidworks on a daily basis for a living. I actually own my own seat. Not a big deal, but it keeps me using it (payed gby Skypuppet - General
Miro, I may take you up on your older ver. I have two different versions right now. One is Marlin 1.0 and the other, a zip labeled "bkubicek-Marlin91202a8". The second one (bkubicek) bears a closer resemblence to the sprinter that I have, but still seemed to either be missing some comments or had extra ones that I didn't recognize. So far, I have only been attempting to configure it. I havenby Skypuppet - General

Hi all, I have been thinking of switching to Marlin from Sprinter to take advantage of accceleration. When configuring sprinter, everything was really straightforward even for my inexperienced self. I felt like I understood it. I wish I could say the same for Marlin. It is much more ambiguous in that I really don't know what to do in config-h once I get past the thermistor settings (which evby Skypuppet - General

Mine was like that too. I don't know about a quarter inch, but it was noticably teetering. I just slid a magazine (mustang monthly worked for me) under the hard hitting feet and gently pressed down of the frame. Then retighten. You can make it go the other way as well, so you just have to work it a little. You may also need to loosen the nuts prior to "adjusting".by Skypuppet - Reprappers
Aplavins, how much larger? I'm doing the same, but not double by any means. I just put some of it up on thingiverse: Take a look at it. I get a little nudge here and there to just go to a mendel max, but while I love that machine, it's not as much fun to just play it safe, right?by Skypuppet - Mechanics
I had a similar thing happen on my ramps 1.3 board. There was solid core wire feeding the heated bed and clamped into the euro-style terminal block on the board. The contact was not good or something and it got super hot, melted the euro terminal and I lost heat. Luckily it just damaged the terminal and the electronics were fine. I just pulled the board off and soldered a nice stranded awg 20 wby Skypuppet - General
That's a thing of beauty! Awesome job. You're making it difficult for me to stick with my large build prusa, haha... THANKS A LOT >< Seriously tho, very nice. Maybe you should attach a pic of these "boogers", hehe, that word!by Skypuppet - General

I think they are a really good option to the plastic couplers for a lot of people like me who may be using these machines to produce prototypes for job related needs. I know that many people can get good accuracy out of printed ones and I feel like I could too. But I know that nicely machined aluminum parts will give me that accuracy, reliably and without fail. Thanks for looking No, no need to constrain at the bottom that I can see. It really has no wobble even during high speed jogs. I was careful to make the leadscrew parallel with the smooth rod tho. I've had my machine running for a little over a month now and have done a lot of upgrades to it. Most of the changes are based on models pulled off of github, but I couldn't help myself and modded them to my liking. so far I've converted to lm8uu and added flexible spiral cut z-axis couplers. I know, I know... end play, right? I fixed that with a cheap thrust bearing, but really, I'm sure a waby Skypuppet - General
jamesdanielv, I don't have ftdi drivers. I'm running an Arduino Mega 2560 and they use regular drivers. Here's a quote from arduino's troubleshooting site : "The Arduino Uno and Mega 2560 use standard drivers (USB CDC) provided by the operating system to communicate with the ATmega8U2 on the board. I decided to try some different stuff on my old Dell M-60. It was a great workstation several years ago, haha! Anyhow, I hadn't been able to run pronterface on either computer when I started out. Then I found the pre-compiled version for windows at koti.kapsi. This is named as an experimental version. Good point. I had a 110c heated bed from the start and use blue 3" painters tape with great results. Even so, PLA still stays down a lot better than ABS. One of the things I really like about it. I run the bed at 60c for PLA.by Skypuppet - General
Yeah, I wouldn't say there's a standard filament diameter yet. I'm using 3mm, but only because I have no need to switch. While PLA prints very nicely for me, I've had some print quality issues occur with it that I haven't seen with ABS. I'm only into this for a few months now, so my experience is limited compared to a lot of folks here, but if I had run PLA at first and had those issues early oby Skypuppet - General
I know this is moving off topic, but the reason for going to RepG is because of the P-face pauses (not recovering). I've tried everything that this forum had to offer, that I can find anyway. I actually like the Pronterface user interface more than repg, but maybe just because I'm used to it. My pauses are random, even when running from the same file. Andrew, thanks for the reply. Skeinforge is built into replicatorg, so it's strange that it would generate those codes, isn't it? Of course that doesn't matter, they need to be removed/replaced, but I'm not very familiar with that process. I haven't had to do any gcode mods using skeinforge with pronterface, so that could be fun. Especially if I have to do this with every gecode generation ouby Skypuppet - General
So here's the same error code as before. Fun. I'm starting to think I'll have to live with Pronter-pause :/by Skypuppet - General
Please pardon the XL font size. I used it to compete with the images. That said, I grabbed the recommended file from thingiverse and am now generating gcode in RepG. I use SolidWorks extensively and I export stl files that I can slice directly in Sfact. I have been doing a lot of organic surface stl exports lately (footware lasting models) and it works nicely. There is no option to save as a binary stl tho. That's available for parasolids, but not stl's in SolidWorks. If you post a file, I'll try opening it in SW. If it opens, I'll save stl's for you to tryby Skypuppet - Reprappers

Hi, I posted on this topic yesterday as well. I got a response suggesting that I try the following: I went to thingiverse and DL'd the file and placed it into my machine folder as instructed. At first I still couldn't see it, so I went back into my C drive machines folder (inside of RepG) and hid all other machine type drivers into a new folder. That made it show in the application "machine tby Skypuppet - General
