Printing issues ...
I didn't change the stepper, i bought the bulldog xl extruder in a whole.
Yes it needs to do less steps, you have to recalibrate the extruder . I use 930 steps/mm with 32x microstepping, but this will be a bit different for each motor.

When people print stuf and sell they dont use 100 procent infill, claiming it is not necessary, wich is bs for mechanical objects ofcourse.
Well, i would advice you to go for the robotdigg one for sure if you are on a budget.
Works fine with me i did it for the same reason as you.

The filament does not strip because of high speed or to much stepper current like said above.. You could put the retraction less high and fast, but that doesn't fix the issue.
Try to put the spring tension of the extruder less, that is more probably the problem.
I use a geared stepper myself and it actually needs quite some current (for 3mm atleast), i use drv8825, if i would use a4988 (1.5 A li

What kind of motor are you using currently on your extruder, is it a rather small nema 17? Also it is quite possible that there is a problem with the assembly of your extruder/hot end, did it ever work well?
The original one is quite expensive, the one i bought is half the price, the one from robotdigg it's 72 dollar at the moment excl shipping.
It is a bit harder to reassemble when needed, but

Hi Dave,
First of all, may i ask what kind of problems you are experiencing and what hot end doe you use?
About the metal extruder, the only option you have for 3mm is with a planetery gearbox motor if you go direct drive.
I have a Direct drive bulldog xl extruder myself, because i also use 3mm, in combination with my e3d v6 it works fine.
Ps: This is an example of the bulldog on a prusa i3

I am impressed man, good job!
What do you have in mind for your cartesian that would make it better then your Delta?
I am currently finishing my custom mendelmax 1.5 , need to take a new photo though, its no longer up to date.
Thank you! The main things for the new cartesian are: increased rigidity, increased resolution, linear resolution (vs the dynamic resolution o

I have used a servo for auto level before switching to inductive sensor.
Check the picture, you can see where the servero is connected.
Place a a jumper like you can see in the pruple circle, do not forget this!
Edit: Sorry i didn't realize you are using those pins for extra fan's, i can't help then.
Why don't you order an inductive sensor? its much more user friendly, you buy them for lik

I don't know anything about the LM7805 .
But for my inductive sensor's ( 1 is the same as yours) i use 2x 10k resistors.
@PDBeal, i have a pnp and a npn, i wired them the same way, you just have to invert the signal in the firmware.
The one pictured on reprap.me is an NPN sensor, the one described a PNP

I soldered directly on the female pins, so i didn't open the motor.
I just tested the geared motor, works fine. I am using it for my robodigg bulldog xl extruder.
Also i just replaced the drive gear with an mk7, i replaced the idler aswell, the original one has a groove in it so i replaced it with a regular one.
@Digital Dentist, in case you are reading, what drive gear do you use on your bul

Probably, but do not remove the rotor from the stator housing. If you remove the rotor, the stepper motor will lose torque.
maybe the safest way, is to not open the motor, but to solder the wires against the pins of the female part of the connector.
What do you think?

Hi guys,
I have a geared Nema 17 Motor for my extruder, it comes with a connector on it.
one of the wires of the connector broke off once again, i was wondering if i could open the motor and solder the wires directly.
Can i do this, and does anyone have good advice on this?
Thanks

Hot ends based off of E3D designs... Not "Various"
Lets call it what it is now.
Sure, but not exclusively.
I might just make hybrids of different parts.

I supose you know it's not legal to sell E3D copys due to his Licence Terms (Non Commercial).
You can do it, but not legally.
Hi, I am not going to sell E3d's, but hotend's based on various design's.

I think the idea is sound but the economics might be challenging. I've bought plenty of clones, some work well especially the Big Tree Tech ones from Aliexpress, presuming you build them properly. However I've switched to genuine as I just don't want to have the trouble of the occasional jams. The fans supplied are usually useless and the bearings give up within days/weeks of using

If you want to actually sell something that no one else is selling, how about modifying the hotend heatsinks by adding a thermal fuse that will kill power to the heater if there is a failure at the controller board? The thermal fuses top out at about 270C- much too close to actual extrusion temperatures, but if you mount the fuse on the heatsink, it can still work. You'

I dont think you have read what i posted PdBeal,
The clone i linked is a bad clone, was just showing it does sell.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the reply's.
The thing is, i don't plan to get rich from this like many people in the business, and some overcharge because they want to live off it.
If i just get decent pay for my hours of work, i am happy.
I would offer per example an e3d v6 for around 26 euros + 9 euro shipping = 35 euro (europe and usa), With extra's compared to the original.

Hello guys,
I am planning to open an ebayshop with hot end's etc.
Does anyone know or have any idea what the 1.75/3mm usage ratio is, in other words how much more popular is 1.75mm filament?
My plan is to buy hot end clones or hot end parts and correctly reassemble or assemble them myself, bad parts will be thrown away or fixed if possible.
I have experience with original j-head mkv, e3d v5,

Like said above, it seems like your extruder skips or your hotend clogs.
When it fully stops extruding and you stop the print, can you still extrude and pull out your filament without a problem?

if you want a prusa i3 i would advice you this one, you would definitely regret buying the acrylic sooner or later. (377 us dollars) :
It's full metal, much more stable and it has no printed parts, which is a good thing trust me.
And other then that , it just looks better
To make it work quite well you will have to change some thing's, like a different hot-end ( e3d v6 or v6 lite), quite poss
