nophead when I download your link for pointer face, OSx auto expands it and it only has the app by itself no slicer for me either. If its just me please let me know. Thank you for your time and help,by tjhj2 - General
Jcabrer, You'll laugh at this, but I took the pictures with my iPhone 4. I have a D90 but as long as its got good light I get good enough close up picks with the phone, Just put it in the sun. Ok here it goes for the setup, this is all the settings I have tried with no improvement. My machine has a .35 diam nozzle, and appears to have no backlash or circular problems from testing. If it makby tjhj2 - General
Hi all, I am using a Makergear Prusa and I am trying to print a measuring spoon. But no matter what I seem to do it stops sticking to the previous layer and drags it across the bottom. Ive slowed it down to the point it melts from the tip sitting on it, sped it up, different layer thickness, played with plastic sizing... I am just out of ideas. Added fans, less fans, some on some off, All offby tjhj2 - General
Backlash seems likely but also check step loss or binding. Are you sure your not loosing steps from binding or low current? Check the movement is smooth with power off. Then Try printing in a different area of the bed. If there is one sticky spot it may loose steps there each time consistently. Making it run short. Lastly I would up the current to the steppers and see if it improves at all. Itby tjhj2 - General
Did you check the cennections on the board. That looks like you shorted the temp pins together. Since both are now reading way off. Or pulled/broke one pin connection. The ADC's can get weird with one floating pin. So a broken extruder thermister could scree up all the ADC inputs. So try unplugging each thermistor one at a time and change your firmware settings to disable the one unplugged. Thatby tjhj2 - General
Ok so I thought I had this working and it turns out not really, /Applications/Slicer/Slic3r.app/Contents/MacOS/slic3r $s --load /Applications/Slicer/config.ini --output $o This always slices with the default config, not the config file I saved in folder. When I try and edit my sliceoptscommand to take away the -- ignore-nonexistent-config, slicer won't load and show me options. Like soby tjhj2 - General
Hi, I couldn't find a print run forum so here I am in general When I go to load a file to slice it I get the following.. QuoteSlicing: /Applications/Slic3r.app/Contents/MacOS/slic3r $s --load config.ini --output $o Cannot find specified configuration file (config.ini). But when I go to open settings > slicer It opens up the slicer window. But still gives me a code error. QuoteEnteriby tjhj2 - General

Hello, I'm new and am just exploring the host software option available. But I can't see why to use a alternative host software over the standard software other than the ability to integrate a different slicer. Other than slicing why do you use a different host software? I don't see much difference between opening - slice to gcode - print over open - slice and print. Do you reccomend one forby tjhj2 - General
That thing is awesome. Hopefully it will be my second reprap. Thanks for the great work.by tjhj2 - General
That makes sense. Thank you. Ps what is Tantilus? I can't find it anywhere?by tjhj2 - General
Hello everyone, I have been thinking and I can't seem to come up with a good reason that the prusa models split the X and Y movement between the print head and table. It seems to me that moving the Z axis along the X adds to the vibrational issues, and binding issues for the filament. What is the advantage? Is it just a design choice that has worked out to be cheaper and advantageous so itsby tjhj2 - General
Nophead, In the video when it goes 2x, 4x is that just playback speed? I had imagined that the speed would be more critical. Or is it only the speed to extrusion rate that matters? Thanks for all the help,by tjhj2 - General
HI all, Ok since #2 isn't possible, at least currently. How do you do #1? Does the slicer do it automatically? Or do you have to tell it when to do it?by tjhj2 - General
I can only offer a suggestion based on CNC lathe experience. I once tried to convert a lathe that used a rack and pinion drive. At first it was great, as the teeth wore the back lash became horrible. Hopefully the lack of load on the printer will make wear much less of an issue. Those appear to be square teeth, you should consider using an involute tooth. It will wear more even. The solution I cby tjhj2 - General
Hello all, Thank you for taking the time to read this and help. I should say advanced printing ideas to me at least, these may be common for all of you. I am new to 3d printing, but am experienced in traditional CnC (mills and lathes), SolidWorks, and Embedded Systems. Here is the question, when performing what I would call advanced printing how do make the software do these things. I am usby tjhj2 - General
Thank you both for the time and explanations, That makes a lot of sense fundamentally. Nophead >Since these limits depend on the die swell value (which depends on plastic, temperature, flow rate nozzle hole length), and not the nozzle diameter, > it makes little sense for the slicer to be given nozzle diameter, IMHO. Yeah I didn't take into account that plastic is flexible and expandsby tjhj2 - General
Hello All, Thank you for taking the time to read this and help. The more I read and search the more confused I become. I am new to 3d printing, but am experienced in traditional CnC (mills and lathes), SolidWorks, and Embedded Systems. Here is the question, I am looking at machines/kits to buy and cannot seem to figure out what are the advantages/disadvantages of a smaller extruder nozzle? I sby tjhj2 - General
