I recently had a batch of 20cm x 20cm flexible silicone heaters custom-made. Personally, I prefer these over the PCB heated beds. They are rated at 180W, have a built-in 100k thermistor, and 3M adhesive backing.

I've put together a kit of 3D printer finishing accessories that I've found very helpful. Even with a well-calibrated machine, ABS/PLA can sometimes require some cleanup.
I'm offering several of these on Ebay with free shipping within the US: .
Included are:
1. 2" x 60yd Wide Roll of 3M Blue Painter's Tape
Great for covering the surface of the printer bed. The extruded material adheres very we

About 40% of the things I slice cause the printer to freeze after the first layer.
- It's repeatable. Some gcode will ALWAYS print, and some will NEVER get past the first layer or so.
- Sometimes changing a random setting in Slic3r will make something work (e.g. removing brim), but I can't find a pattern.
- Sometimes the same Slic3r settings used on different parts will work and sometimes not.

Wow, they got their first round of kits out pretty fast. I'm surprised the next batch will wait until April. I think they're learning to better take lead time into account. Probably a good move.

Here you go, $199 from QU-BD. I have one of these, and it works. Barebones, but everything is in the box.

I'm selling several complete (motors included) Airtripper BSP Bowden Extruders. I converted my printer to a Bowden setup with the wonderful E3D hot end, and it worked great. Good hardware was a pain to source; hence, I decided to offer several of these for sale and hopefully benefit the community. I've been using mine to print at 120mm/s with large 3mm retractions (80mm/s filament retraction spee

This has happened to me several times also.
As Azrael mentioned, the feedrate is likely too high in the firmware settings. Also, try adjusting the max acceleration in the firmware. The steppers may be capable of a higher velocity, but they can't accelerate to that speed as quickly as the firmware thinks.

What about these ones,
They appear to be even cheaper than eBay.
QU-BD extruders are finicky. Some people have no trouble, but a great many suffer jamming issues that are very difficult to resolve.
A typical Greg's Wade Extruder seems to give typically reliable results. I recently tried a more expensive option: and I liked it a lot. All-metal, a lot of torque, and easy to

To get that great feel of Legos, everything has to be just right. The connections between blocks requires very tight tolerances. I've even noticed that MegaBlocks don't snap together as well as real Legos. If there's a special custom piece you want, sure, try to print it. If you're looking for a whole bunch of blocks to build a castle or something, I think you're better off just buying them and s

Personally, I think some of biggest gains are in the territory of the hot end and extruder. Check out some of the all-metal hot ends on the market.

I bought one of those cheap red silicone hotends and it instantly spewed smoke and fried. I guess you get what you pay for.

I love my E3D extruder, but it seems to have developed a PLA allergy or something. A couple layers in, it's started always getting clogged and the extruder chews the filament. I've tried:
- HIgher temperatures: I had good success at 190 for awhile, but now I've gone as high as 215 with similar clogs.
- No retraction: same clogs.
- Complete tear down/clean: took everything apart and cleared plast

I own a QU-BD Revolution printer, and I can say: It's a good machine at a good price, and it has a few problems.
That's the thing -- not every printer is a scam or a gift from god. There is something in between (i.e. reality). When you build a RepRap, you expect to invest a lot of time to get the perfect print. When you buy a hardware package like this one one, you should expect the same thing.

I'm throwing together an experimental rig and am looking for a good deal on an extruder and probably a hot end too.
I'm not in any particular rush, so I'm willing to wait for the right stuff to come along at the right price. I don't mind used equipment as long as it doesn't require extensive "therapy." I'm not dead set on any particular designs.
If you've got either or both of these up for grab

I'm Repstrapping some industrial equipment (3 good axes now, yay!), but I'm planning to buy an extruder soon.
There are a gazillion Chinese extruders out there that look pretty good for the price. But do they work?
Any thoughts on extruders? If anything, this is one part of the machine that I would like to buy as a turnkey solution. I just don't have the patience for bad extruders.
Thanks!

For those of you familiar with Kinects:
Does a light come on immediately when the Kinect is hooked up to power, or does it have to be actively communicating with a PC?
I'm splicing wires, and so far I'm not getting anything when I connect a 12V power supply. I suspect my power supply may not provide sufficient current though.

3D Scanners, Book Scanners, and Optics
So, I couldn't help myself and bought this odd mess of stepper motors and linear slides.
1. Any ideas what it is (or was)?
2. Any good ideas for a project? ><
Thanks!
