What size braided wire sleeving did you use? I need to order some. Thanks. Looks really good.by disneytoy - Delta Machines
Hi Gang~! I have Ramps 1.4 running Ritchie C Marlin. I have the parts to build an LCD (20X4) with SD card/Rotary encoder. I have done a lot of research. My LCD is the standard not serial version. I've wired it up as per the pins and I don't get any text on screen. Just glows blue. I followed this: I'm 99% sure everything is wired okay. I think my Firmware isn't working right. Hi Gang! I'm trying to test my autocalibration switch. I have a simple microswitch wired to my Ramps 1.4 I'm connected to Pin 18. I've tested my wiring with a multimeter to it does work. I use M119 to test my switch, But I only get: 01:23:32.110 : Reporting endstop status 01:23:32.110 : x_max: TRIGGERED 01:23:32.110 : y_max: TRIGGERED 01:23:32.110 : z_max: TRIGGERED Not reporting Z_min? I don't think my RichieC Marlin's Auto calibration is set up correctly. Can someone running me through the process. I'm running RAMPS 1.4. I have a micro switch connected to Z-Min (pin 18) Not sure if it is NO or NC. How can I reverse it in the firmware? Do I need to comment or uncomment anything in Configuration.h or pin.h? Or am I ready to go with my basic motherboard 33 set? I know I haveby disneytoy - Delta Machines
@disneytoy Weird, what do we do when we get advice that turns out to be misdirection? We learn? You should be able to get within 0.1mm using post-it notes. I use mini-post-it notes. Then.... Use this youtube video and you will get within 0.02mm across a flat print plane.by disneytoy - Delta Machines
QuoteRTurnock @disneytoy Yes,the motors stop and thehot end drops, all the time, every time, yet this is not important to the results. when printing the motors are always "on" when you are leveling the print plane with the nozzle the motors should always be "on" and the nozzle "HOT" because it gets longer/closer to the print bed when hot. look on Youtube for Jay Couture videos about calibratinby disneytoy - Delta Machines
Need some advice. Hi! I'm running: Ramps 1.4 w A4988. Spectra line with Wantai Nema 17 Stepper Motor 42BYGHW811 70oz-in 48mm 2.5A.(Same a Rich used on his from the blog). Is this normal? I did some testing. If I do the paper calibration, I bring my nozzle to the bed and I have just enough clearance. I can still move the paper. If I cut the power, I can no longer move the paper, or slip it undby disneytoy - Delta Machines
Hello! I've been going round and round trying to calibrate my printer. I'm running the Latest Marlin. (DELTA) I have measured my X Y Z (A B C) Towers I can reach the bed (with a thick piece of paper TOWERS: (X) Z1.5 (Y) Z0.6 (Z) Z0 CENTER Z0 --------------- I've tried M666 with out much luck in Repetier Host. I tried: M666 X1.4 Y0.6 Z0 G28 G1 X-70 Y-40 Z0 F5000 And the head crashesby disneytoy - Delta Machines
M666 Question: I just measured XYZ and center. The tip just drags on a thick sheet of paper. (X) G1 X-70 Y-40 Z2.1 ( you will notice I could not get closer to the X tower because of my fan) i hope that does not make a difference. (Y) G1 X87 Y-50 Z3.3 (Z) G1 X0 Y100 Z2.0 (CENTER) G1 X0 Y-0 Z0.7 So, in M666 would those be negative or positive offsets? Example M666 X2.1 Y3.3 Z2 or M666 X-2.by disneytoy - Delta Machines
Super. got it. Question: Say I check the bedlevel at all three column axis. I have scripts in Repetier to do that. If one corner is higher or lower than the other. The individual Z, M666 can only adjust the global Z0 correct. I will eventually have my Z-probe hooked up for auto bed leveling but in the mean time M666 is global only?by disneytoy - Delta Machines
Thanks. In my configuring I was told to make sure EEPROM was commented out. So I will wait until I play with that. Haven't made a first print yet. So I understand. I'm tunning a delta with mechanical endstop switched. My carriages have no screws. i was under the impression when the endstops were hit, it set everything to zero. But my issue now is setting the X Y Z min. Bed level. I'm close. Iby disneytoy - Delta Machines
Interesting. I* diod like the idea of the LED attached to the hot end. But then again the PMW would make them flash on and off occasionally. At the moment I'm trying to physically wire (solder, connectors) a z-probe micro switch, the 3 dollar store leds, and a 12v fan. I'm guessing the LEDs are 5v. I will need 6 wires to the Ramps. I don't have a heated bed. casn the fan be connected directlyby disneytoy - RAMPS Electronics
I just lowered the Z 100mm and measured. So the 55.5 steps per unit is pretty close. I guess I just assume 55.5 works for X and Y.by disneytoy - Delta Machines
Having some trouble. This is my first ever build. I'm trying to set up the Marlins firmware to control the Gregg's Wade's extruder Rich has in the original design. The one with the Harringbone gears. I even am using the same exact Wantai 42BYGHW811 nema 17 motors. I do have a a4988 driver though. I tuned all my drivers to 0.45v 2 problems. I'm not really sure when or how to use M666 function? Kossel mini. Mechanical endstops. Thanksby disneytoy - Delta Machines
Not a bad idea. I think it is prefered to not use the fan on the first layer or to to help adhesion. then fan. It would be nice to have software to control the J-head fan.by disneytoy - RAMPS Electronics
My hot end will have some LEDs to light the print area and a fan for the Jhead. In Repetier, I see a slider for fan speed. Can someone explain how with Marlins, I can control a Jhead 40mm fan and 3 little leds? What pins. I also have a microswitch to z_min pin for auto bed leveling. I don't know enough about lectronics. Am I correct I do not need to wire 3 seperate grounds for the LED/Switch/by disneytoy - RAMPS Electronics

My only concern about that diagram, is the DELTA EFFECTOR OFFSET goes from the ro pivot point, to the next axis pivot rod . But wouldn't the Centerline be th absolute center of the effector? I think that drawing is inaccurate.by disneytoy - Delta Machines
Question about z-probe; the Z-Min pin. Running Marlin firmware. On the Ramps I want to change it from pin 1 to one of the pins next to the Z-Max pin. Under the Mechanical Settings, I believe it is set to dissable the min endstops. How would I go about enabling just the z_min for my z-probe switch? I think I read that the X and Y min need to be disabled? ---------------------------------------by disneytoy - Delta Machines
From Marlin configuration.h // Horizontal offset of the universal joints on the end effector. #define DELTA_EFFECTOR_OFFSET 30.0 // mm The distance from the pivot point of the Rod to the center of the Jgead on the end effector is 30mm. Do they mean the mid point between the two parallel rods? If so it should me 17.5mm. This is not proportional but which measurement is correct?by disneytoy - Delta Machines

Haven't built a prototype, but wanted to share an idea. I use to do a lot of Resin pressure casting. Using an inexpensive Harbor Freight paint pot: I was looking at a stack of black coca cola 2 liter bottle tops and thinking it would be great if this plastic would not go in the garbage but maybe used to print something. Maybe I could do a grinding to break this plastic down a bit. Most filamby disneytoy - Plastic Extruder Working Group
You need to do a lot of reading on the forums. Watch videos. I was interested in 3d Printing almost 3 years ago and have been researching. Then I saw the BerryBot early this year. I eventually decided on either a Kossel Mini or Cerberus Pup Delta. After ordering everything I'm at the point of adding my Magnetic arms and the configuration process. There is a lot of knowledge and understanding youby disneytoy - Delta Machines
RTurnock, I measured all info provided real world.. I have not assembled my rods yet. That was what I was trying to determine. I have 150mm CH tubes. But my metal ball ends are on 1.5" 6/32 screws. So I have a certain amount of adjustment. I will put the arms together tomorrow once the JBweld cures. I'm go with your 206mm . Thanks.by disneytoy - Delta Machines
Thanks, My sideways calculating came to a rod length of around 200mm. That was based on taking the image provided and knowing the build radius. I saw that the arms were 30 degrees. I then drew the triangle in Illustrator and measured the diagonal length. About 200mm.by disneytoy - Delta Machines
Okay. Still not sure about the carbon fiber arm lengths. the so called Delta_Dagonal_Rod. (These are mag arms if it makes a difference). My primter is based on the Cerberus Pup which is 500mm tall ans 170mm build circle. Mine is 650mm tall, and a 220mm build circle. I've measured the important configs below. Can anyone help me calculate this last dimension? #define DELTA_SMOOTH_ROD_OFFSET 160by disneytoy - Delta Machines
Thanks, That worked. Had to move my endstop pins over. Now homing works. What next should I test or configure? Don't have my end effector attached yet. That's next.by disneytoy - Delta Machines
