QuoteMattMoses QuoteSublime I actually feel there should be no pages that have limited access and make decisions for people. That is the page I linked to should not exist and the home page should not have any machine specific information on it. This sounds OK to me. I like the RepRap Options page (even though it is disorganized) and it does not have any editing restrictions. The Build A RepRap pby Sublime - Administration, Announcements, Policy
QuoteMattMoses QuoteSublime Right now the cover page of the wiki has a link to this page which can only be edited by a few privileged persons who are basically using it as an AD for their machines. Maybe for full disclosure you should also mention that the cover page of the wiki has a link to this page RepRap Options, and one of the machines on that page is this one and one of the dedicated subby Sublime - Administration, Announcements, Policy
QuoteSamS But I'm really all for limiting the forum sections Maybe I read this wrong but I read it as consolidate forums. If that is so how exactly is less organized supposed to help? We need more specific forums but in only a few forum sections (see my detailed explanation in the other thread in the appropriate section ). If I misunderstood I apologize. Just change the speed in Marlin. Also you will want to add an LCD and SDcard to the machine right away because printing over USB is not ideal and the LCD an SD is so cheap now. You can do it for about $9 total using and and two trim pots plus wires. If you do a little searching even less. Those were the first I found. Even pre-made fancy reprap oriented kits for LCD, encoder and SD are cheap oby Sublime - Reprappers
QuoteBuback QuoteSublime RepRap itself is nothing more than an idea and a place for people to work together. that sentiment exactly why nobody bothers with the wiki. I think the reason nobody bothers is because it is an unorganized mess with pages that try and organize things but actually make it worse since they need to be manually updated every time. QuoteBuback QuoteSublime I do not think the idea of an official RepRap is good at all since there can not be an official without an owner. As it is any "Rep"licating "Rap"id prototyping machine is a RepRap. RepRap is about evolution and as with biological life there will be a lot of variations and species, all of which are descendents of the first even if they can not interbreed any longer. This is interesting. I have the opposite opinion again. I think the forum needs more organization, not less. We need more sections for specific stuff so it is organized and people can find what they need. I think it needs to have only a few sections on the main page with sub forums like the User Groups Section has for Asia and Canada etc Forum section > Subforum "Machines" > Current listby Sublime - Administration, Announcements, Policy
Also be sure to read all the DIYtechshop threads. Especially the one about their hotends. Also do to the amount of plastic extruded per step of the extruder you can get lower layer height with a larger nozzle and get better bridging at the same time. There are very few circumstances that a smaller nozzle will actually have advantages and I have personally never come across one. I have printed itby Sublime - Reprappers
I run Pronterface in Ubuntu 13.04 64 bit. I believe all you have to do is install all the dependencies, add yourself to the dialout group (can be done through the users and groups gui) and then mark pronterface.py file as executable (right click and select properties and select allow executing as program). Then when you click pronterface.py it should ask you if you want to view it or execute it aby Sublime - Reprappers
I am not here to rock the boat but I would like to voice my opinion on this. I believe the Wiki is a lost cause as nothing in RepRap stays the same for more than a few weeks at best. So when ever there is a page about a subject like electronics it needs to be edited all the time to be kept up to date. But that requires the person developing that item to know about that general electronics pageby Sublime - General
Quotenaxem42 Quotekarabas Quotejimjimma Sublime, I really like the water wheel damper idea . If you add a weight to opposite Z-cable to balance weight of empty bed, does it solve the problem? Stepper motors have some resistance without power right? If you make a pulley system for spectra line with a crazy ratio like 50:1, the stepper itself might dampen the motion. There is a diode that is supposed to supply the Arduino with voltage which the arduino regulates to 5v . If the diode is missing it will not get voltage and the logic side of the electronics will not get power. Note that the wiki says only install it if using 12v. This is true if you have an Arduino with a cheap regulator. The Arduino specs are to have a 19v regulator which can handle the 15v wiby Sublime - Tantillus
No worries. The cable has to be really tight. When you pluck it, it needs to play a high pitch note (musically tight). Basically you need to have the tensioner as loose as possible while making the cable as tight as you can using knots at that point. Then tighten the tensioner bolts to get the cable musically tight. You may need to release the tensioner after tightening and add some knots and retby Sublime - Tantillus

My guess would be the opposite of what has been suggested. Since one motor moves every time it is clearly not the driver overheating or the firmware or the slicing software. So that would leave not enough current to move one microstep at a time, I would increase the current a little. Also Cura has spiral vase mode as well if you want to avoid the issues with Slic3r bugs and still have spiral priby Sublime - General
@ Greg Frost I see you merged my changes into your branch of Cura and initiated a pull request. Does this mean you found it useful? Have you been using it? I think the only way you will get Daid to accept it is to have enough people saying it is a good solution to the problem.by Sublime - Experimental
I think a printer where the bed only moves on Z is far superior. I wouldn't even consider building a machine with a bed that moves in X or Y. You cold also consider a Delta bot which has a bed that does not move at all.by Sublime - General
Quoterichrap @Sublime - I have seen many more then ZERO issues on various machines using tightly wound 3mm filament, even ones using bowden feeds. But much of that also depends on how the filament has been treated going onto the spool, some get wound quickly when still warm, squashed oval, strained, kinked or twisted. I would not want to bet a machine like the Ultimaker 2 with a direct drive bby Sublime - Printing
QuoteCaJodo Hey, you are a HERO. By changing Z-Rotation to 90 degrees, the problem is solved. I tried also 1 degree, this also solved my problem That was the work around for a similar bug in version 0.7.2b which was fixed many many many many versions ago. I guess Slic3rs bugs never really go away they just go dormant for a few releases before being brought back with new bugs. When you get tiredby Sublime - Slic3r
I like that you can tell who manufactured the filament from the spool style. It is true a few companies use the same spools but they do not use the same spools as the bad suppliers like Esun. If manufacturers want to standardize the spools I think they need to agree to mark the spool with the manufacturers name so we as consumers can tell them apart regardless of what the re-sellers want or thinkby Sublime - Printing
QuoteJomo Jomo Re: Kisslicer 03/12/2014 05:02PM I just started using Kisslicer and I think that I am getting better results then Slic3r. I had a few issues and questions I hope some one can answer. They should transfer over just fine. My only guess would be the "min jump" and "trigger" settings as they define when it retracts. If that does not work be sure it is using your settings by checking the comments in the gcode to see if it is changing the settings.by Sublime - Slic3r
I can see why it was reported and depending on how it goes I can see it being moved to the crowd finding section. Yes and No. You can go wider and taller but for deeper you have to be concerned about the cantilever bed not being strong enough. For a more complete answer have a read through the Ingentis thread as it has a lot of talk about building a bigger machine that applies here as well. There are a few other threads concerning this as well that should be fairly easy to search for in the Tantillus sectioby Sublime - Tantillus
You just needed to go back through the github commits to find when they were removed and browse the code before that point. Here is the last time they were in the repo You can also use the ones on Thingiverse since I believe they were made because these ones may not slice properly in some slicers and were made with Blender.by Sublime - Tantillus
