What about using power line communication? Then you could just have each stepper module plug up to the mains to get power and instructions. No messy wires, easy to setup. Just a thought.by Linkreincarnate - General
I am having an issue getting the arduino ide to find the library for U8glib. I installed it through the Ide and the ide shows it in the gui but cant find the file when it tries to compile.by Linkreincarnate - General
So I got a RepRap Discount Full Graphic Smart Controller for my folgertech prusa i3. I added the include statement to the configuration file and now the firmware wont compile because it cant find the file. The file is in the arduino library folder though and arduino adds it to the drop down menu. What am I missing here? Why cant arduino find the file when I try to compile? Still seems better than running two motors though. I say try it and tell us how it works out!by Linkreincarnate - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
Ok, thanks a lot for all the advice! I am going to redesign the cable routing and body tonight. I'll just keep posting my progress to this discussion if you dont mind. (if you do I can make a new thread)by Linkreincarnate - General
Ok Thanks I kinda knew that but I've been putting off a redesign until I get it running as expected. Are there any rules about how they are constrained? I really want to keep the spools on the top and anchored to the bottom so I can put this in different sized frames.by Linkreincarnate - General
So I am working on a sort of inverted version of this. It shortens in the downward direction instead of upwards and has rubber bands pulling it upwards instead of pushing down. It's still in the rough draft form so ignore some of the obvious problems in this design for now. I am going to work those out once I get the kinematics problem resolved. Would these inverse kinematics work for my dby Linkreincarnate - General
Ok marlin is fine on ramps 1.2. You have to define motherboard as #define MOTHERBOARD BOARD_RAMPS_OLD. I commented out #define PREVENT_DANGEROUS_EXTRUDE and #define PREVENT_LENGTHY_EXTRUDE. Finally I se t#define TEMP_SENSOR_0 0 to 0 instead of -1. This disables the thermal sensors. After I did all that it works as expected. I am using a delta configuration and that automatically disables endstby Linkreincarnate - Firmware - mainstream and related support

So can marlin be installed on ramps 1.2? Can marlin be run with just xyz control and no extruders or heated elements? What do I need to change in configuration.h to remove the need to have endstops and extruders?by Linkreincarnate - Firmware - mainstream and related support
I had a similar problem and using 1.0.5 fixed it.by Linkreincarnate - Firmware - mainstream and related support
4 years later I found this topic when i had the same problem as the poster. The lesson to be learned is to post your solutions when you find them yourself.by Linkreincarnate - Firmware - mainstream and related support
I am an idiot. I have ramps 1.2 not 1.3. Ok so I still have a few questions. I know that I did not have the voltage limiting diode so I may not have burned out my board connecting it to 24 volts. I only had it hooked up for a little and I have it hooked up to an arduino mega 2650. That arduino is only rated to 20v but once I saw it wasn't working I disconnected power. How do I tell ifby Linkreincarnate - RAMPS Electronics
So I heard back from support they said they had never pushed it past 240 but they didn't see why it wouldn't go to 270. I'm going to try it and post here if it works.by Linkreincarnate - Reprappers
Can anyone who has this extruder tell me the maximum temp you can print at? Can i get it to 270 and use Up filament? I have a bunch already and It would be nice to use it in both printers.by Linkreincarnate - Reprappers
What are the temperature limits of the included extruder? (for the newest batch) I have some Up plastic that I would like to use but it has a higher than normal melt temp (~270C). Can this hot end handle it? I am afraid to push it that high but I may try if it's been done before.by Linkreincarnate - Prusa i3 and variants
I'm sure it is some kinda linker error. In any case I got it working in Linux so no rushby Linkreincarnate - Reprappers
This is what I get when I try to compile it with the verbose error reporting on Arduino: 1.0.6 (Mac OS X), Board: "Arduino Mega 2560 or Mega ADK" /Applications/Arduino.app/Contents/Resources/Java/hardware/tools/avr/bin/avr-g++ -c -g -Os -Wall -fno-exceptions -ffunction-sections -fdata-sections -mmcu=atmega2560 -DF_CPU=16000000L -MMD -DUSB_VID=null -DUSB_PID=null -DARDUINO=106 -I/Applications/Arby Linkreincarnate - Reprappers
I am having a similar issue. The code from folgertech's google drive is not compiling. I am using 1.0.6 on a mac. This is the error I get. This report would have more information with "Show verbose output during compilation" enabled in File > Preferences. I have an up. (Actually I have the first one they sold) Linear bearings and rails everywhere (all axii are belt driven). The aluminum build platform doesn't hurt. The big thing is software and plastic though. They don't use regular abs it is some kind of polycarbonate abs blend. It extrudes at 270C. Also I think the filament feeder is a big help too. The software definitely deserves a goodby Linkreincarnate - General
We are hosting another 3d printer meetup at Freeside Atlanta this Friday (August 19th) from 4-8. Anyone who want to attend should do so. We will be taking apart and documenting the UP 3d printer as well as doing some basic tweaking and such to repraps and makerbots. For more info (including directions) follow the link. http://blog.freesideatlanta.org/2011/08/mini-3d-printer-meetup.htmlby Linkreincarnate - General
