Solved. New update has fixed the issue. What an amazing feature!!!!by 88Zombies - Ormerod
This seems to have worked!!!! Only done one print so far but was a better quality than all 4 prints prior to adding iamburnys upgrade.by 88Zombies - Ormerod
The material is a lot stronger than I expected! i tried ripping that print shown in the original post but failed to do so. @colsenfoto thanks for the tips, I'm going to print and attach the y-belt tightener tonight. Fingers crossed.by 88Zombies - Ormerod
I used to get that a lot... i dont know why but since I updated to DC42s firmware it happens a lot less. I also found ensuring proterface is closed (wait a couple of seconds) then plug the USB in without the PSU power on, it works almost every time now...by 88Zombies - Ormerod
Ah thanks Ian, this would be a really usefull feature! excited.by 88Zombies - Ormerod
I've just updated my slic3r... there is now an option that wasn't on my previous version, a "view/cut" (shown in image attached) However this doesn't seem to work as I'd expect. and can't find any in depth tutorials. I select "keep" and tick the 'lower part' (no tick in 'upper part')... when I then click "Perform Cut" it simply duplicates my imported STL any one else tried this yet?by 88Zombies - Ormerod
@ droftarts I think you might be right... I did a small experiment where i tried the same print with ABS, the bulge issue was still present. (image attached with axis ref.) I also did a quick video; there seems to be some slack at 0:04 (I think); this looks like it could be the cause of the top bulge on teh image but there didnt seem to be any obvious reason for the bottom bulge (on the attachedby 88Zombies - Ormerod
Just done my first NinjaFlex pint. (this stuff is AMAZING) it's a very simple print, a stubby circular tube with a smaller circumference at the top. instead of being perfectly circular there seems to be a bulge on opposite sides, all the way up the vertical... it only petrudes about .3mm but is obvious when holding the item and flexing any idea what is causing this??by 88Zombies - Ormerod
look forward to receiving. Thank you very much for the time and effort you're putting into this upgradeby 88Zombies - Ormerod
- On the original image i had the overhang threshold set to 0... - I tried setting to 89, (affraid i havn't got an image to upload) but this resulted in support everywhere... quite confusing actually as it added about 2mm of support around all sides. Stopped the print half way through as it was using abs and couldn't even make out what was being printed though all the support material.. Haveby 88Zombies - Ormerod
Im trying to print MasonStonehenge's spring-loaded extruder from thingiverse... suports are required but they end up getting stuck in the filament feed hole.... i've had this problem with another print where i could use a support for a large overhang but not small gaps... is there an option on the slic3r 'support' prefrences to stop this?? any help much appreciated!!!by 88Zombies - Ormerod
I didn't have much time so i was unable to do seperate prints showing trial and error of all suggestions, but instead made the following ammendments all together as suggested... - Kept the bed temp & nozzle at a constant temperature.. - Printed and fitted the DC42 fan outlet - blocked the fan duct at the bottom - Printed a 5mm brim around the object.. - unckecked print external parapeterby 88Zombies - Ormerod
@DC Ahh thanks, I think I'd prefer to attch with screws and i can see it's going to be a tight fit with the duet enclosue in the standard position... @Zombiepants If anything I'd say it adhears too much, was fairly difficult to remove, i used; - kapton tape, with hairspray (sanded down), with ABS+Acetone slurry layers untill misty looking.... when i removed the print (the 2nd time) it actually rby 88Zombies - Ormerod
Hi DC, - No i don't have a fan inlet, ive seen them on peoples images but couldn't find the files on thingiverse. just found the thread for them - Nor did i block the outlets at teh bottom! didnt realise that, woops... ill get the kapton tape out and cover those!! I'll print one of these tonight, (even after fully reading, not entirely sure which to go for.. my fan is the original 5 bladed oneby 88Zombies - Ormerod
Attempted my first ABS prints last night, results not that great but usable... I have read a couple of posts floating about with tips and tricks. Read them all thoroughly before attempting to print.. - I drilled holes as recommended - used a slurry of ABS+Acetone atop a light spraying of hairspray my slic3r settings were; first layer, extruder 245°c / bed 105°c other leyers, extruderby 88Zombies - Ormerod
all great advice!!! Thank you. I was thinking of using one of these to regulate teh temperature; i was thinking of jsut hoooking that up to a fan at the top to help extract heat?? I think I'll attempt to print the ABS spre parts before any enclosure is added.... good advice..by 88Zombies - Ormerod
Hi! I currently print in a small flat with big windows meaning the temperature fluctuates A LOT. I will be hoping to build an enclosure to reduce sound.. Would it be worth keeping a regulated temperature within the enclosure?? If so what would be the best sort of temperatures for both ABS and PLA? I ask as I have literally NO idea. I don't even know whether hot or cold is best... many thanksby 88Zombies - Ormerod
If creating an enclosure would it be a good idea to regulate the temperature?? If so what would be the ideal temperature for both PLA & ABS??by 88Zombies - Ormerod
Ahhhhh!! I wouldn't of figured that out. Will give these ago once the ABS arrives Thank you Dave.by 88Zombies - Ormerod
Ah great, will get some spares of this tonight.. what are the pieces circled in pink? and where did you get teh mod circled in blue?? many thanksby 88Zombies - Ormerod
Hello! Noob question @ dmould... how do I apply your "config.ini" ABS printing settings? do i add them mnually or is there a way to pop them in the 3 folders like the ormerod0.5 slic3r settings?? also.. I have just ordered some ABS to attempt to print, never tried before. I read a reccommendation a while back about 1st printing some spare parts for the ormerod beacuse of the high temperatures usby 88Zombies - Ormerod
I was just going to ask the same thing about the fan, looks awesome!!! (great idea burying nuts too!)by 88Zombies - Ormerod
I've had this same issue, and same inconsistency.. The an adjustable lamp near my printer turned out to be the main cause of the problem. having the lamp directed at the printer results in a different Z height to when its faced away slightly. Not much but enough to bodge the first layer. Saying that, it does seem to still occur at one point of the printer still, this could be poorly layed kapby 88Zombies - Ormerod
Brill cheers Dave! Really owe you, up North was about to but something that could work as an enclosure that's 50mm to small. Thank you.by 88Zombies - Ormerod
Hey! Currently away from my precious ormerod, just trying to source a nice enclosure. Any on have the dimensions to hand? Can see the width is 500mm wide on the RS website but is that including the movement of the Y axis both sides, anyone?? Help greatly appreciated!by 88Zombies - Ormerod
that does look like an amazing solution!!! kicking myself as work was throwing out something similar, a water cooler (that keeps the water at room temperature, not cold...) took home thinking id have a use for it. took to the scrap after 6months of not finding a use... buggaby 88Zombies - Ormerod
@ kim - Thanks for the info! i think i've printed the latest revision, i connected it all last night (not tested yet but looks like it should work). This will show how much of a noob i am but i have 2 basic questions; 1. When I pop the grill in (the metal bit that was originally placed between the fan and hot end) should the slats lay horrizontally or vertically? I currently have them in horizonby 88Zombies - Ormerod
firstly, I'm sure i saw a thread on this before (that was quite large with lots of info actually) if any one could point me towards this id be most gratefull.. .. I'm looking at building an enclosure for my ormerod for a number of reasons, repel dust, reduce noise, boredom, looks cool. Is there anything i should know?? I'm looking at using some sort of acrylic or something similar. do i need tby 88Zombies - Ormerod
Hello! I just printed the big blue last night, I havn't got my ormerod with me so can't quite see how/where exactly it fits.. but am istching to take a scalpal to it... also, i'm a bit unsure about the extra files (360 glue on nozzle kit) images attached of what i've done so far.. Do I still require the 360 nozzle kit? If so where does it fit on, do i cut into/cut off the existing air duct thby 88Zombies - Ormerod
@ jstck - Ahhh didn't know about that "wipe while retracting" option, I think for this particular print it would maake it worse (its a really thin wall with next to no infill & visible from both sides) will try that on future prints though! also thats a very good point about the temperature differentiations, i think i've printed as low as 180 degerees but stopped as i was worried about tryingby 88Zombies - Ormerod
