Good to hear! Usually there are a few small things that makes things go wrong. I for sure know about that.. Im on to make a plate to my Anet too. Well after some other projekts on it.. You sure you have a original prusa i3 mk2? Not sure. But I think they only is available with a alu frame? My Anet has a acrylic frame. That is flimsy like nothing else.. Rods are anything else than straigby SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi! Ive been reading thru this thread. Very nice build and skills from you! I got alot of input from it. For my own coming build. Don't be afraid to make more posts here! Pictures and videoclips. May I ask how much is warps when you heat it up? (if you have measured it when heated?) I like the duetwifi board. That probe looks very promising.by SatorCodex - CoreXY Machines

Quoteprot0typ1cal Igus sells hard anodized aluminum shafts. The 12mm solid and 20mm hollow (2mm wall) weight about the same per meter. Though have seen printers and routers using EMT (conduit) for shafts, MPCNC on Thingiverse for example. Im not really convinced about igus bearings. Or rods in aluminium. Im a bit old school when it comes to machining. But it might work. If its going to be a bigby SatorCodex - CoreXY Machines

Hm. Always annoying when stuff dosent work.. could you take som picture. Its says more than thousands words. Does temeratures seems to be correct to the set value?by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
I agree with you on mass problems, when going really big. Holow rods is a very good idea. In not sure if they are available as inventory by producers? Ultimaker setup is genius in my mind. The crossings gives nice stability for the hotend assy. Especially if they are separated by hight,a bit. To keep mass down. I think Bowden (as often) is the way to go. Saw a rod grinder for sale today.. hby SatorCodex - CoreXY Machines
Ty very much for youre response! The big players out there. Use (what I have found out) heatchambers with advanced tmepsettings with ramping temps up and down. I was thinking that then, a heated plate might be not neccesary? That would make bed warping musc less of a problem. Hm.. this is Intresting... If one still would have a moving gantry. One could balance the wheight out with counterwhby SatorCodex - CoreXY Machines
Tell us how it went! Its always a bit challenging to get all settings good. To get perfect, takes just more work.by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi all. I have been thinking about this design for a while. Now, life takes a turn, and Im about to start my own business. Some may now from earlier post. That I work with large format 2d printing. Mainly inkjet printers. Prucing material for displays, expo ect. So, In that case. I want to incorporate 3D printing as a solution for some projects/customers. There is no way I can go buy a 3D pby SatorCodex - CoreXY Machines
Ok. Have to investigate further. My Anet software doesn't allow me in to change settings in eprom via the menu. So, Im taking the good advice not to change the firmware at the moment. I haven't so far. Cause of the reason as you say. Don't change wats not broken. Not for now anyway. I too need to fine tune settings abit. but no hurry. I will fiddle with octoprint, while I wait for the restby SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
When I'm printing generic abs. I usually have to go for about 240 C for the nozzle. 70 is minimum on the bed. Works if one uses abs juice on the bed. But its nasty stuff. Higher bed temp and enclosure is better agains warping. Happy printing!by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Have you calibrated extruder?by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
To clerify. It is working ok. Though the autoleveling sucks. Even with the latest "L" firmware. So I was thinking to let Skynet have a go. Since most who upgrades use that firmware. Have a E3D v6 bowden modifikation comming. Where I cant see how to alter the config in the original firmware. Octoprint would be a great way to print. Instead of using sd card. My old laptop is really slooowww..by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
I did find that that for OS X. Installed and rebooted. but nothing changed. On the laptop I used arvdudess to reset the firmware before loading the update. But haven't seen other use that. Im a bit confused..by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi all. I did search forums, google. Arduino website ect. Also skynet Facebook etc.. To begin with. Im new to this type of work. I previously updated the original firmware. But had to find a old, slow windows laptop. (successfully, with the normal windows port trouble) Since everything I run. Is apple. I want to get it to work on my Mac. So I have downloaded ArduinoIDE for Mac. Did findby SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
If you still have problems. Just print from the memory card. Easy and hassle free. And no problems fit pc going down for whatever reason, during printing. Or.. go buy a Mac.by SatorCodex - Prusa i3 and variants
Hi again. I think you have to replace the termistor. In any case to rule that out of the question. They are easy to find on eBay, ect. Or any who sells 3d printer parts. And they ar very cheap. what do you think of signet so far?by SatorCodex - Reprappers
Good to hear firmware worked out good for you. I still havent had the time to install it. Agree about the thermistor probably is the problem. I hope I have the time to work with my Anet this weekend.by SatorCodex - Reprappers
Quoteanvoice QuoteSatorCodex But lapping only take elbow grease, gritpaper. Gives a good exercise and produce a better result than grinding. Flat surface and you are set. Thanks, I learned something new. I'd definitely be willing to give that a go, though probably on a machined surface as otherwise it'll likely take forever. This is a very Intresting thread. As I have similar plans. Although larger format and in a different way. I Agree with alot, and disagree with welding. It introduces to much heat and warps badly. Solutions mentioned by DD is very valid. Although, its possible to weld brackets to each part. Then matchdrill and fit together with pressfitted mashine screws. There are several ways to do this withby SatorCodex - CoreXY Machines

Ditto to dust comment! I have bout a Anet A8, and it's close to crap. It prints small things decent. But then.. Really low quality all the way. Rods, etc. Acrylic frame is bad. Haven't cracked it my self. But it flimsy. Combined with warped rods... Measured.. well. Didn't need to measure precisely. But on my granit flat surface. Rods came out more than 0.1mm in two directions.. in other wordby SatorCodex - Reprappers
Hi! I have a Anet A8 too. Haven't done it yet. But download and install skynet. Seems like everybody is using it instead of stock firmware. My "autoleveling" is not working anymore than than like a mechanical limit switch. I've tried to install A8L firmware. (Supposedly for autoleveling) But no luck. There is a Anet A8 wiki with a lot of good information. Best of luck of getting reply from Aby SatorCodex - Reprappers

Ty for the input. As a newbie all information is gold! There is alot of information here on the forums. And elswere. But as new to 3D diy. It's not easy to collect and get a good picture of what is what. Im I wrong to say 32bit bit boards struggles with firmware contunetly? (Probably bad spelling As most ppl. Wow! That must have been a headache!! Good input on pulley diameter! didn't think of that. So I go for the rubber type. I bought a belt for my lathe. In the search I found a company who had a huge selection of belts. To expensive for the Anet. But have to check it for the next projekt. I have to thank you all for your efforts and charing your experience. Have been looking around @ the usual suspect shopping sites. Looking at steppers. Its seems to be a jungle out there.. Feeling a bit lost. What to actually buy!? Imean. Id rather spend a few bucks extra to get something with reasonable quality. Size does matter too.. Also, going to replace the belts on the poor Anet. Hi! I have printed and used one of the popular on thingiverse. Agree that there is plenty of desighflaws. Ducting and airflow, is not easy to do it the proper way. Did see one yesterday, that had different sizes on the holes. My is working good enough. But have a rework design in my mind. I alos consider the A8 a project. need alot of mods and work. Fun though!by SatorCodex - Reprappers
