Check your gcode file, if it has lines that include Exxx.xx etc, then Skeinforge is generating the movements, but your hardware is not processing them. If the E codes are missing, or zero, then check that you have Dimension activated in Skeinforge.by geoffd - General
I am using Slic3r -> Pronterface -> Marlin. If you set the temperature in Slic3r to 0 it does not wait for the extruder to get to temperature. I then use Pronterface to set the extrusion temp. and manually wait for it to get to the correct setting before I print. Geoffby geoffd - General
I am currently working on an extension for GEN6 that will control a heater and a fan via the I2C connector. The board is designed, but not etched yet, so I have not made the design public. I hope to do so in the next few days. My build Blog. Geoffby geoffd - Controllers
Not sure if this might help, but it looks quite useful and is quite easy to use. Geoffby geoffd - General

Thanks Traumflug I did a net trawl before I started, but I did not see this one. Currently can't get it to compile on my Mac, missing some X11 libraries. It looks good. Cheers Geoffby geoffd - General
pcb-gcode only produces milling code, not plotting, so it can't be used with a pen.by geoffd - General
I want to plot pcb boards on my Prusa and as I use Pronterface there was no builtin conversion for generating the gcode, so I have written a simple conversion program that takes the HPGL driver output from Eagle and generates gcode. My blog post for it is here: hpgl2gcode blog and the Github project is here Github project. Happy printing. Geoffby geoffd - General
I was using SFact then saw a post about Slic3r and have now switched to using it all the time. Alessandro has done a great job so far and I am impressed with the speed that new improved versions are released, bugs are fixed and questions are answered. If you are a newbie I would highly recommend using Slic3r, very easy to setup and creates great looking prints. Geoffby geoffd - Slic3r
Hi All On Sunday 27th November our local town has it's Christmas Fair. I shall be giving a demonstration of my Prusa and giving away printed items to the kids. If anyone local (Perpignan / Figueres) want to come and say hello they would be very welcome. The address is: Casa de la Nostre Terre 66260 Coustouges France Town Website Cheers Geoffby geoffd - General
I have just added this to thingiverse. It has two parts, one is a plate for mounting a Gen6 board on the Prusa top bars, the other is a mount to hold a fan above the Gen6 board for cooling. Geoffby geoffd - General
+1 from me for Marlin too.by geoffd - General
I can highly recommend the linear bearing versions. I replaced my Y mounts and the X-carriage with ones using LM8UU linear bearings (Greg Frost's version) and it has made a big difference to the accuracy and repeatability of my prints. Just in the process of printing X-end-motor and X-end-idler versions using LB's, that should improve it even more. Geoffby geoffd - Reprappers
Are you using SF of SFact? I am getting the same problem of infill lines not meeting the perimeter lines using standard SFact settings. I will try altering the Infill Perimeter Overlap setting, but playing with that earlier seemed to make no difference.by geoffd - General
Silly question. You did close Arduino IDE before you tried Pronterface? I have a similar problems if I try to access my Prusa from one without closing the other. Sometimes I have to replug my USB to get 2 consecutive runs of Proterface to access the port.by geoffd - Skeinforge
Hi All I have finally got my Prusa to print somethings that are near correct, but I have two issues that I need some advice on. I am using Pronterface, SFACT and Marlin on a Mac. The object is a spool holder from Thingiverse. 1) When printing vertical lines (marked in the middle of the photo) it does not seem to do any infill just draws the lines straight, so what should be a solid bar has enby geoffd - Skeinforge
Thanks Viktor, Interesting read. I've got plenty of sun where I live, but not enough spare time to build one Geoffby geoffd - General
I recently came across this. Mark Kayser is an artist/designer and has this very interesting concept of using the sun and sand to sinter a 3d object. Geoffby geoffd - General
I use a gen6 and PCB heated bed. I just plug it in to the power supply directly and switch on/off manually. It works successfully. I have a longer term plan to add an extension via the I2C socket, but currently I have too many other things on my todo list ! Geoffby geoffd - Reprappers
@DanielG: Take a look at this blog post, it might explain some of the lack of communication; Mendel Parts Blog 17/9/2011 17-09-2011: Well in short, its total chaos @ mendel-parts, massive delays, hardly communication etc. There are multiple reasons for that: - last 3-4 weeks Ive been struggling with my health, there were even days I couldnt even get out of my bed. I have always had good service from them, I think the problems comes from some of the lead times on printing parts etc. I have always got a response from Camiel when he is on IRC. last time I spoke to him, he had been in the office 4 days x 24 hours and had 4 hours sleep. I know it might be frustrating, but given he probably gets 100's of emails a day, and he is a very very small operationby geoffd - General
Hi Bronston I had thought about using this approach too, but don't have any spare time to try it. I would think that making the insides as light as possible would help e.g. 10 - 20 percent fill. Just enough plastic to support the walls. This would mean far less plastic to burn off during the pour. Geoffby geoffd - General
Hi All Has anyone succeeded in getting the FiveD firmware running on a Gen6 (or other) board to work successfully with ReplicatorG when communications errors occur? Looking at the RepRap GCode spec when a line needs to be resent due to comms. errors the board should send 'rs nnnn' where nnnn = the line number. In the FiveD code the resend command is 'Resend: nnnn' so ReplicatorG flags it as aby geoffd - Firmware - mainstream and related support
