Anyone have plans for a modified xaxis carrage using a lutzbot hot end with wade extruder ? thanks in advanceby HereIgoAgain - General
I'm running ramps 1.4 and am having trouble burning up resistors. I have a number of 5ohm 3.75watt resistors that worked fine with my old gen 3 electronics but every time I try them with my ramps they burn up. I have selected the option for mendel parts v9 on 12v below , I thought this would work to change Pid_max which I believe manipulates the power to the hot end. Any ideas ?? // Mendel Paby HereIgoAgain - RAMPS Electronics
Perhaps I didn't explain. I made a mark 50mm above the top of the extruder and then extruded 30mm of filament. At first, when I did this, I used ~50mm of filament. Thank you stephenrc for the code reference, I now have the hot end extruding very close to 30mm. However, when I print something I am still not sure I am getting enough filament to flow as it seems to barely put out filament. I amby HereIgoAgain - RAMPS Electronics
I'm having trouble extruding with my ramps 1.4 with pronterface software. Using the extrude 30mm test the literature suggests, I extrude nearly 50mm. However, when I go to print there is barely any filament extruded. In my old gen 3 stuff I could adjust for the type of extruder I was using..ie. wades but I'm not quite sure where to do that in the Marlin firmware. Any ideas ?? thanksby HereIgoAgain - RAMPS Electronics
Hi Viktor, thanks for responding. Here is a bit of the gcode generated with skeinforge. I was unable to generate the code using the replicatorG software. Finally have everything set up and seemingly working with my 1.4ramps. However when running the ReplicatorG or Proterface software the machine runs glacially slow. I can move the x,y or z azis any distance I choose ...and it runs smooth but once i load the gcode the machine barely moves. I've tried tweeking the available commands but nothing seems to happen. Any ideas ?? thanksby HereIgoAgain - RAMPS Electronics
Please disregard my last message. Upon more careful inspection I found the pots on the Ramps. Much smaller...but now all works fine...by HereIgoAgain - General
Hey everyone, Recently purchased Ramps 1.4 and after a slow start finally have it responding. the x and y axis are smooth as silk and move back and forth but the z axis doesn't do anything. When I hook up the Z axis motor to X or Y or the board it works but slower and for a shorter distance but at least it works. However, the motor i connect to the Z axis port just buzzes. Hey, Just found this forum so thought I'd try here too. sorry if this is becomming a multi-post. Well since I haven't heard anything else on this thread, I believe with these electronics I will try the 3+ approach. I'll let you know how it all goes.by HereIgoAgain - General
don't mean to sound ungrateful but after looking at the parts list and trying to identify and find the parts and then adding the "upload the firmware with the correct pinout " might send me into a rabbit hole that I may never find my way out of. I think I'm ok building if there are good plans and directions. Still find it strange that everything seems to work except the temperature always saysby HereIgoAgain - General
hmm that does look tempting. I have makerbot electronics. Is that hard to get to work ?by HereIgoAgain - General
Seems I've been here before. Gen 3 electronics. Difference this time is software compiles and installs. Problem is temperature say's 0. software runs but always says t:0. I've had similar issues before but then the software would just hang and the issue was usually SCL/SDA D9/D10 issue. I have swapped out the mother board with another and swapped out the extruder board (albeit with extruderby HereIgoAgain - General
Thanks for responding The error I get is the standard... Hmmm after seeing this board, I think it may be more of a problem making that work with my old Gen 3 makerbot electronics than I want to try and figure out. thanks anyway Greg. Guess I'll just go with 2 sets of ramps.by HereIgoAgain - Wanted
sounds great. Do you have paypal ? Let me know how you want to be paid and what the shipping will be. Looks like our dollars are worth about the same. and thanks!!by HereIgoAgain - Wanted
Hi Greg, I am in the process of building a Prusa. I'm going to purchase Ramps for that but since I have the old gen 3 on my Mendel I thought I'd leave that (at least for now, if possible). I'd be interested in your board. Which inputs did you change you're extruder to, and did you need to make any changes in the software ? Let me know what you want for it. thanksby HereIgoAgain - Wanted
Alas, once again I believe I have done in my Gen 3 extruder. Anyone have one they're willing to part with.by HereIgoAgain - Wanted
Don't know what happened but I can no longer upload firmware tothe IO board with my gen 3 extruder board. was working fine. Have checked out all the usual issues but continue to get an error on upload. Have an old board (with other issues) and can upload firmware to that fine. Any ideas ??by HereIgoAgain - Wanted
Exactly the information I was looking for. thanks Nudel.by HereIgoAgain - General
Well my mendel is back up and purring like a kitten so now on to new stuff and with that in mind, I am making parts to build a Prusa. Question is what are the best/easiest/most cost effective and so on electronics. When I read all the posts I get dizzy trying to figure this out, and I'm sorry as I know this is talked of often. It looks like the choices are: Gen 6, Gen7, R2C2, and Sanguinololby HereIgoAgain - General
Go figure. I cleaned the glass with ammonia and lowered the head a bit more and everything now works again. Thanks nophead sometimes I think we just need some reinforcement.!!by HereIgoAgain - Printing
Well I have to say, this one has me confused. I followed everyone's advice, cleaned my hobbled bolt (it was dirty) , took the hot end apart and cleaned everything but still I can't print. This after many perfect prints. I have included a link to a video I made. the first 6 seconds seems to show it all...why the filament keeps shooting up to the hot end and getting everything stuck, I just canby HereIgoAgain - Printing
I've been printing for a couple of weeks now with fairly good results. I have added a hot bed to avoid warping. I am still reluctant to print many objects at once as one failed print usually ruins the rest. Having said that, I just can't get prusa pla bushings to print. Each time I try it seems to fail right from the start. I've tried lifting the head a bit and lowering it a bit (from the .5by HereIgoAgain - Printing
Well after all that was said, I took the easy route (at least for now) and acquired a small laptop power supply which I have hooked directly to my hot bed. The unit is rated at 4.7 amps and keeps the bed at an average of 50-60 degrees. I have noticed that changes in temp affect the temp and will still replace this eventually with something I can regulate, but for now I think it's only to otherby HereIgoAgain - General
A lot to consider here, Thanks everyone. I'll let you know how it goesby HereIgoAgain - General
What do you use to adjust the voltage ? That's kind of what I was thinking of doing. Thanks for the input Jcabrer, I might be able to just use one of the leads from my current power supply, I'll have to check out the amp output.by HereIgoAgain - General
Now that I have printed a few success items with my mendel, I realize that to print many things at once requires a heated bed. I purchased a heated bed PCB heat bed mk2 and now that I have received it, may seem like a silly question but how and or what do I power this with ? I am using gen 3 electronics on a mendel. Could the heatbed plug into my extruder board ? An equally interesting questionby HereIgoAgain - General
