As mentioned by gmckee and dc42 above, you can do without the heatsinks as in the A4988 and DRV8825 they are practically useless. On the other hand, active cooling (i.e. a small fan blowing cool air over the MOSFETs and drivers) should really be compulsory on every RAMPS setup.

Ahem... yes indeed the BeagleBone Black includes an AM335x 1GHz ARM® Cortex-A8 SOC and that specific SOC has a pair of 200MHz Real-Time Units (PRUs), which are really separate RISC CPUs with their own instruction and data RAM blocks . So, yes indeed the Cortex A8 @ 1GHz is able to handle the various OctoPrint/WiFi/G-code parsing duties and the RTUs can handle the steppers-related RT tasks fine.

Well actually it's not the Linux kernel, which is comparatively quite flexible in and of itself. It's because what you are asking for is almost impossible to program. I am not aware of any OS/kernel that implements RT and separate core management for multi-core CPUs.

Sure, again, it can be made to work... The simple fact is that with an approximately 0.3s max. estimated latency (delay) between sending a G-code command and getting an OK response, you are going to get into situations where the firmware has an empty buffer and just stops printing (the "stuttering" mentioned above). IMO having to edit the firmware source, re-build it and re-flash it every time you want to change the configuration is ridiculous. Modern electronics/firmware combinations use a configuration file on the SD card instead. Marlin is showing its age.

That basically means they just intend to sell these parts exactly like that, and there is no hint that they'll either scrap that defective batch and/or have another extrusion die manufactured.
I would insist on a refund and avoid buying from them from now on. Sooner or later another company is going to offer the same or a similar product but with the correct dimensions and tolerances.

If you really want to use a ring seal as in your latest diagram, then a simple copper ring would work fine imho. And these are available just about anywhere in standard sizes and very inexpensive too.
