I bought a similar kit, was a huge learning experience,
Also I had a similar problem with the filament clogging in the hot end, taking it off and putting a torch to it did the trick until I got a nice hot wnd

What kind of printer? My ramps based press froze a couple times due to overheating, I turned down the voltage on the stepper drivers a bit and aimed my at psu exhaust at it and it's fine now

1.75 mm filament,
The geared down extrudes sound good, would like to see your setup

I dot know much about stepper motors, but I am looking to make my printer a dual hotend with direct drive extruders
I would like to keep it light and not sure if a nema 17 is necessary, I also don't know the difference between the different lengths of steppers with a nema class. I have a ramps board so 4 pin steppers are preferred
Any suggestions for light enough steppers with enough torque?

will i have to modify the pins.h ? my fan is currently using the second hotends power, and i plan to use this for a second hot end soon
also by directly to the 12v supply is that a specific spot no the board or just where the atx supply actually connects to the board?

I have a fan on my E3D hot end and want to add a print cooling fan, which fan should plug in where to the ramps if i want them independent and the e3d one to be always on but the print cooling one to be variable through the gcode?

try running your thermistor wires as far away from AC powered cables as possible? (or for that matter try to keep the away from any unnecessary wires)
They can get some cross talk causing errors like that

Have you configured your steps per mm properly yet? Do you have microstepping enabled yet?

I think the bigger problem is getting plastic that will absorb the ink

You need to install the endstops, when the endstop is not being pressed the circuit is closed, that way if a wire gets cut it fails safely.
Active extruder 0 is fine, that just means it is only finding 1 extruder. just like the first core on a cpu is core 0 the first extruder is extruder 0.
check and make sure that the thermister wires aren't being run near any power cables if at all possible,

When you tell your y axis to move in the positive direction does it go the desired way? If no reverse the plug to the stepper motor.
Is this marlin firmware?

Look up a guide on setting your steps per mm
You haven't inserted your correct values in marlin from what I can tell, right now if you tell your axis to move let's say 1 cm it will move either more than 1 or less, so this needs to be calibrated.
If you have done this, you can try to adjust the potentiometer on the z axis stepper driver to supply more voltage

Were these samples fromthe the bed? If so, that sounds about normal, it leaves the nozzle at.5 but them get squished and flattened by the edges of the nozzle. This is by design, it makes the fiLament stick to the bed other layers and we'll as neighboring extrusions much better

Check your homing speed in marlin, ait's couple lines above steps per mm
It also occurs to me that your steps per mm may not yet be configured

You have active print cooling? Because this looks to me to be too much heat, though it could also be the model that you are trying to print
Also, Is this pla or abs? And what temps you printing at?

While I'm not a particularly big fan of using z axis belts, I think with 4of them it should work. Though I can't imagine the bit of elasticity in them is a good thing. EDIT: The more I think about using z axis belts the few problems I have with them, after all delta printers work well and the use 3belts to control their 3 arms.
I'd go with a standard 2 z axis steppers and 1 x ( just noticed you

I know that you can get lead screws pretty cheap on eBay, have seen good results with them too
Store bought threaded rod is made of very soft metal, though this is designed to make them bind, so I guess a harder steel would be favorable to avoid threads wearing, or binding

neat, yeah think that's new. Would need to look into it more but i think that would have a really great foot print size to build size ratio.
Think it should work, though you may have to place those arms kind far away from the platform and make the two carriages kinda far apart from each other. maybe not, i'd build a moch up of those arms, would be very interested to see them.

Looks like you haven't configured your steps per mm yet, there are tons of guides on this, would post a link but on mobile,
Use ctrl F to find the line default_axis_steps_per_unit
Change the 4000 to something like 300 is and you should see the z axis move, that is NOT the correct number, find a guide they will show you how to calculate the correct number

Schematic and pictures of the physical board would be nice, no promises on making ability to help though
Also, tried poking around with a multimeter yet? See if the ground is actually being powered? And if so with the 5v or the 24v

I'm working on a pretty old restock delta printer and it has a couple qwerks to it.
The screen only turns on when plugged into USB, I suspect the Rambo has no 5v power of its own, not sure if this is normal or how to fix it.
When told to home all on repetiier host it will try to home just one arm which leads to what I can only describe as hyper extending it's arm. I now suspect this was due to t
