I am currently designing and building my own dual extruder FFF and have been looking at electronics.
For me the Megatronics V2 has the ability to do 3 extruders, but as you pointed out it only has 3 thermistor inputs (not a huge problem for me for my initial design but I want to eventually look at adding a 3rd extruder). I wonder if you can use the thermocouples at the same time as all the therm

I had a spare rPi that I wanted something to do with and stumbled onto Repetier-Server. It allows you to have a web interface to control your RepRap and ques up gcode that you may want to print, even has a simple model store if you are printing out the same thing over and over.
For me it takes advantage of what the rPi's strengths are - able to run complex interface and web control applications

One of my first orders for supplies was from Mendel-Parts in August 2011. All I was after was some filament which the site stated was in stock. After a month of waiting with a few emails and MP forum posts I was not able to get an update for my order. Unfortunately I was really in need of some filament by then and ended up opening a PP dispute as I wanted my money back to buy elsewhere. Thankfull

I've noticed this. I have a Bowden feed for my Huxley and although it seems to stop early on some corners. The residual tension in the tube causes a blob, I think this stops the feed just before the end of travel so that the blob simply fills in the gap and looks less blobby.
Not noticed any problems with the prints themselves.

Looking forward to the multi extruder!! Just to clarify at the moment to buy a complete hot end you only have a choice of 0.4mm will the system be updated to allow for a hot end to be ordered with the other sizes? I ask simple as I don't like waste by having a nozzle that will never be used.
Cheers
PS Any discounts for ordering more than one?! hehe gotta ask!

Liking this design. Couple of questions though, hope you don't mind!
Are you planning on making other extrusion sizes? I would love to have a 0.3mm nozzle.
The machine I am designing/building has two extruders close together. With the active cooling that this system uses I wouldn't have space to have both fans on each extruder. My current design would have the hotends centers 28.5mm apart (the

I want to use GitHub for the printer I am designing to ease sharing updates. However I'm not at the moment as my GitHub for Windows install wont load and also while I have figured how to download a git (done it for Slic3r) it is confusing how to upload to a repository, update a remote one from local, update a local from remote. I am totally open to the fact I'm not reading the help files right t

I am currently designing/building my own 3D printer and was wondering where people get their NEMA 17 steppers from that are reasonably priced in the UK. I have found eBay which seem cheap. My machines axis' as much like Mendel's what sort of torque am I looking for?
Cheers for any advice!

I had the exact same issue and questioned about why Slic3r doesn't have a Z speed option. (https://github.com/alexrj/Slic3r/issues/81) TBH I see the point, my Hux

Repetier
Just wanted to post up a quick msg saying that Repetier Server works great with the RPi binaries on the pcDuino
Gives a much more responsive refresh and response in the browser than my RPi did (only reasonable as the pcD is 1GHz, 1GB and a later processor core).

I had previously tried that but unless it received at least 4 pulse per interrupt it didn't register any change however think I have it now though (using an extension on that idea) change:
if (encoderDiff)
{
lcdDrawUpdate = 1;
encoderPosition += encoderDiff;
encoderDiff = 0;
timeoutToStatus = millis() + LCD_TIMEOUT_TO_STATUS;
}

Just a quick question - the lower graph of the Temperature Curve, what does it represent? I know its a bit of a dumb question but I haven't been able to find it otherwise!

@jbernardis
That is exactly what I mean. It is a pain that each click is subdivided into 4 pulses when trying to set variables. I too have the LCD jump between 98-101%.
I have found two sections in the code (ultralcd.cpp)
if (encoderDiff)
{
lcdDrawUpdate = 1;
encoderPosition += encoderDiff;
encoderDiff = 0;
timeoutToStatus = mill

My encoder for my Ultipanel type controller on Marlin has defined 'clicks' when you turn it. However it seems to be giving out 4 pulses for each of those clicks. This makes it hard to input numbers for setting the bed temp (for example) as the encoder wants to stop on one of those clicks.
I noticed that the ultrapanel.cpp has a define of ENCODER_STEPS_PER_MENU_ITEM 5 which makes the menu jump on

I am trying to make my own hotend and was looking at a load of different designs. One thing that seems to vary wildly is the angle of taper at the hot end. Some, like the one I currently have, have a shallow angle which sometimes drags on the plastic already laid down leaving marks. Others have a much steeper angle.
Are there any benefits to either? Currently I am thinking steeper for mine, but

Regardin speed my lathe can only reach 2000rpm. Only device that I have that could reach 15k+ is my hobby Dremel type tool - but I don't have a press for it.
@VDX
I like your idea of drilling out a larger hole, compressing it down and re-drilling. For a 0.3mm hole, what would you suggest as a starting size?

I am currently trying to have a go at making my own hotend with a 0.3mm nozzle opening. However while I can make most of the nozzle with little issue I am having huge problems with the smallest part.
I suppose I am looking for suggestions on drilling out the 0.3mm hole with the 0.3mm drills I have. Have access to a lathe and drill press. Tried it on the lathe and broke one and bent another bit a

It was that which was the problem. Now all sorted and printing fine! Final thing is to stop the bed-judder when the Y-Axis changes direction.

Is it worth trying out Slic3r first if you want to get going soon? It sorts out most things automatically. Then as you get used to the machine look at going with SF?

I have the same issue with my RRP Mendel. For the X-Axis I put in an extra washer to alter the angle of the stepper which helped stabilize the belt somewhat. With the Y-Axis all that I could do was to make sure the belt wanders over the center of the bearings.

Are you running 32 or 64bit system? I remember when I setup SF/Pronterface that although I run 64bit Windows I had to install all 32bit python etc. to get it to work.

I may have found the problem with the hotend. There is a PTFE insert that goes into the connector between the hotend and heatsink. It looks as though I may not have pushed it in deep enough when I installed it. That means it moves in the connector and allowed a plug to form.
Now asked RRP for a new piece so I can try again and hopefully that will fix all the ills have have

it seems that it is 'bunching up' in the hot end somewhere. I have just removed two bits of filament and both have the same lump on the end. You may be able to see from the picture that the lump looks like it has be folded over.

Just finished the main build of my RRP Mendel and having serious issues with the hot end. I have followed the instructions to the letter and now when it prints it will sometimes print my test piece fine, but more often it fails.
The problem is with the hotend. I have checked everything is tight (heating it and tightening it more as instructed). It is up to temperature but will simply stop workin

Adding to the weirdness, it only seems to be one particular object that is causing the issue. I have attached the STL and GCODE below. I have looked at the gcode and it seems okay. I have now printed two other things, one took over 4 hours and was fine. It is just this one model that has the issue

I am having so many issues with Marlin recently! I had one print that stopped before it ended. I didn't think too much of it, just another failed print. But now I start the print from SD and the machine heats the bed, then the tip, then it says "Sleep..." in the message area and effectively shuts down. At first I thought it was due to a weak solder from the Thermistor (which there was) but I repa
