If I'm not mistaken, the majority of the people having troubles with the E3D v5 and PLA are 1.75mm users. The 3mm PLA has no issues there.

For those of you wondering, here are some examples:
Too good to be true. I just can't figure out how they plan to get around the Aliexpress escrow. Perhaps they think that having EMS with delivery confirmation (of a letter or whatever) will be enough for Aliexpress to at least give them some of the money being held in escrow.
Anyhow, avoid.

I'm in a similar boat as some here... I ordered one to try out but will only be using it for PLA. The hotend arrived this week but the wiring is still waiting to be finished on the printer so I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Got my fingers crossed though. The PLA I use from Revolution Printers likes to run around 205C with an Ubis and 40 to 60mm/s speeds, so hopefully those temps and thi

Try Revolution Printers for a decent Canadian source for smooth rod. Pretty nice quality stuff. I'm also partial to their premium 3mm PLA. Damn nice stuff and a pretty good price. All the rolls that I've gotten from them have been bang on 2.85mm and nice and round.
I've ordered a few things from Rev., in what way is their premium PLA different? I've just started printin

I just downloaded that model. It has some small errors but nothing that should cause troubles slicing. It looks like it will print without support without too many issues.
My guess is that you accidently have support turned on in slic3r.

I've ordered from them 4 times now and they've been excellent. One order had an issue with a wrong part shipped and they took care of it without hesitation.
The steppers are very nice and the pulleys are excellent.

It looks like to me that he didn't price any overhead in his prices to cover selling to resellers. His original plan was direct sales I guess. That's a common business mistake. Thus his resellers are stuck with having to price their plastic at higher prices than the source.
So, he's raising his website prices so that the resellers have prices that look better. The side effect is that people stop

As promised, here is the output. It looks like comms is hanging at the "Error:No Line Number" and stalls there until I press the ok button.

I'll dump that log out tonight when I get back home. This might be the thing that finally gets me to dump the default Marlin firmware on my Jr. printrboard and get Repetier firmware installed like on the Prusa. Been putting it off. ;-)
On the positive side, the new 0.90 release is beautiful. Great colour scheme and the all-new object placement tab is fantastic!

I have a similar issue. 0.90 can see my COM port (COM5) and claims to connect, but no actual rs232 traffic appears in the log window. All the messages sent are listed as pending. This only happens on my Printrbot Jr., which is running a version of Marlin from last fall. 0.90 communicates just fine with my Prusa which is running 0.71 Repetier firmware.
If I reinstall Repetier 0.85b, everything w

You can print smaller features with the smaller nozzle, but it requires your printer to be better tuned. It also takes longer to print things with the smaller nozzle.
Basically the best thing is to have both and use whichever is best for any particular print.

I've had popping and hissing when printing at too low of a temp with the Repraper plastic, strangely enough. I kept dropping the temp thinking that I was too high but it didn't help. The trick was that I had to raise the temp. I now print most of the repraper plastic at 237C and it works great without the hissing.
Bubbles is a different thing all together though. I've got a roll of gold from the

Just turn off the auto-home feature in Repetier and add it to your g-code. All the slicers allow you to add custom g-code at the start and the end.
It seems to me though that if you do a z-home right after a print that you'll smash your print.

I'm a little baffled by you guys saying that the shaft size was wrong. Of course it was! The webpage for that pulley clearly says that the bore is 3/16th inches (4.7625 millimeters). Stepper shaft is 5mm.
Perhaps you should have looked a little further down the page? Drilling out these pulleys by hand is a recipe for an off-center pulley which leads to uneven prints.
You might want to replace

There were ill effects, you just didn't realize. Steppers are essentially ruining by opening them up. You will never be able to get it back to factory condition after doing that. Maybe you

Ok, I received my ABS filament about a week ago. I ordered 8 different colours (Green, Pink, Orange, Yellow, Silver, Gold, Black and White). There was a mixup in shipping and I ended up with an extra pink roll instead of the green. Simon at Repraper took care of me though so no problem. I'll pick up the green next time to try it out.
The colours are nice and bright. The filament prints nicely en

Ok, using a fresh install of the code didn't make an difference. Same issue.
I normally use Arduino 1.0 to compile, but I just tried 0023 to see if it would make a difference. No change unfortunately.
For completeness sake, I'm using a Mega1280, RAMPS 1.3, and the Mac GUI side software.
I see the Arduino GUI has no breakpoints or anything to make it easy to debug with. Grrrrr.... I'm going to
