See Then all you need to do is change the serial port in your firmware. NB to upload new firmware you will still need to use serial0, unless you also update the boot loader code. NB you do know you can get at TX0/RX0 on a ramps, bypassing the usb to serial converters? see AUX-1 port, D0/D1 is the same pins as RX0/TX0 This is how tft28 boards talk to ramps.by Dust - Firmware - Marlin
because arduino moved away from using WProgram.h in about version 1.0 You have to go into the .h and .cpp files and change any references from "WProgram.h" to Arduino.h But that is only the first step.. who know what else has been changed in the 5 years since anyone used that. Do yourself a favour and upgrade to marlin, which superseded sprinter a long time ago.by Dust - Firmware - mainstream and related support
ramps must be set to serial 0 in firmware (you may have moved it, for say a bluetooth setup) Find out what your serial is actually set to, don’t guess. (and you may have set it to something non tft28 compatible) Don't have the usb cable connected to the ramps, its the same serial port the tft28 uses.by Dust - Controllers

Define shorted out? Connected +12v to Gnd? If so power supply would have been very unhappy and would have shut off. If it has short circuit protection leaving it off for a while then turn it back on, everything should be fine. If there was no protection the power supply may be fried, new power supply time.by Dust - RAMPS Electronics

It can be both firmware or your slicer. firstly there is probably an outline on your bed that shows exactly where the 200x200 limit is, locate your 0,0 position Put z down to about 1mm and home x and y send the printer a G90, this sets the printer to absolute positioning Then send a G1 X0 Y0, this moves the printer to location 0,0 (it may not move at all) If its now not at 0,0 this is a hardwby Dust - General Mendel Topics
An io pin can only drive 5v and at very low current. Most fans are higher voltage, I also wouldn’t want to drain all that current threw the micro It has nothing directly related to speed control. (That's PWM, a feature of some IO pins) Most fans people have are 12v. A mosfet is used when you need to control a device that needs higher current or voltages than an IO pin can handle. You can use any IO pin, but you cant use it directly. And yes using X_MAX_PIN should be fine You must use a mosfet on the pin to actually control the fan power.by Dust - General
For uploading to work a boot loader must be installed on the device. Depending one what boot loader is used it will use different baud rates and settings. (baud rate is completely independent of reprap firmware, defined in boards.txt) And it may not have a boot loader at all. What board type did you set in the arduino ide? What type of cpu is even on that board (no details on it that I can fby Dust - Reprappers

What are you using as a dc motor controller? as it depends on what signals its expecting. This is what we used to use A3949 H-bridge motor drivers so there may still be some legacy code about to control these.. But even then it expected a external controller board I Would definitely ask in the Teacup firmware forums.by Dust - Stepper Motors, Servo Motors, DC Motors
This is a complete a utter fabrication It was a laser cutter not a 3d printer at all Justified Rant from 3d printing nurd I dont know if this is related but there are several material that you should not laser cut. Sadly a lot of people do not know this.by Dust - General
kd6hq: I have a real 1.75 diamond head from the kickstatrter I have used both Repetier and Marliin I have not gotten it to work reliably (leaks and constant blockages, most seem to be bowden tube not fully in diamond head type issues) Marlin doesn’t support concurrent extrusions, just multiple tools, so one colour at a time. Repetier supports mixing, but seems to hate pronterface (at leastby Dust - RAMPS Electronics
"Why are not more people building these boards?" They are lazy and cheap. Well not quite.. making pcbs is fraught with issues. Chemicals, getting and disposing of those is problematic for many. This also takes lots of time.. you have to actually check the pcbs for shorts etc Even drilling is quite time consuming, most don’t have the drill sizes needed. wall thicknesses of 0.127mm is not easily achievable... and defiantly not via software magic. you would need a phisical nozzle with a hole of a little less than that diameter To force plastic threw that tiny hole you would need and extruder with a lot of torque (ie a geared extruder, preferable strong metal gears) Direct extruders are a joke for this sort of thing. Yes its really that simple, 3 control lines and a gnd "I always thought the planner would need specific pins to synchronize the steps-output?" in a perfect world you want the step pin on the same port as the other step pins so they can all be activated with one 8 bit io write. In reality It doesnt matter NB E0 step pin is on D26 (PA4) and E1 step pin is on D36 (PC1) Ie they are already onby Dust - RAMPS Electronics
oh and the subject line... * X, Y, Z, E0 [, E1[, E2[, E3]]] so with 3 extrudes you just add extra prameters #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT { 160, 160, 3200, 188.53, 200, 150 }by Dust - Firmware - Marlin
anywhere you want! You then just tell the firmware where where you put it. I used free pins on Aux-2 There are 8 unused Digital lines, you only need 3 and a Gnd.by Dust - RAMPS Electronics
