Can we say large format printer? Okay, so maybe it's not the largest, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't fit in the "desktop" category of 3D printers. I needed to make sure that I didn't have to tell people my maximum build height 30% of the time. I chose OpenBuild's hardest, sturdiest wheel for the carriage as I wanted to remove all play in the carriage. I was tired of linear rails bouncing arounby MrDoctorDIV - Reprappers
I got more V-Slot stuffs today and I'm quite giddy and liken to a child on Christmas with just how much more it is in feel than watching things move in how-to's and whatnaught. Anyways. V-Slot. Especially the Polycarbonate wheels. Sacred golden calf it's as good as it gets. Easy to set up and once set up properly glides like melted butter with absolutely no give or bending or anything like that.by MrDoctorDIV - Reprappers
I've never had my fan at anything below 100%. As far as my knowledge goes, you can't have too much airflow with PLA.by MrDoctorDIV - Printing
Fan fan fan. Most common and simplest and typically the most effective fix. You need a fan blowing under/around the nozzle so that the plastic cools as quickly as possible once it leaves the nozzle. Just a few examples.by MrDoctorDIV - Printing
Fan fan fan. Most common and simplest and typically the most effective fix. You need a fan blowing under/around the nozzle so that the plastic cools as quickly as possible once it leaves the nozzle. Just a few examples. TLDR at first, didn't see that last one. Yes, directly cooling the PLA will help. An all round blow will be most effective. I've got 8mm X 1000mm rods. I ordered them before doing all my research and I regret it every time I look at them. Pieces of crap for 3D printing applications and I will never put them in a printer. Not stable in the slightest, I don't think I could print even at 10mm/s if I did use them. Just the weight of themselves would bow them. Even the 12mm X 1000mm rods seem undersized. The 12mm X 500mm sby MrDoctorDIV - Developers
"An efficient motor, defined as the smallest motor sufficient to meet the demands of the application, will run hot." Maybe look into pre-existing research before starting your whole journey. Save time and effort for things already known. Steppers have been around longer than 3D printing, they're a known and "scienced" resource. As the above stated. What do you do with your hands? A 3D printer isn't built for a specific purpose, just a specific process . A simple carve tool in the hands of a woodworker can do many things. Build houses, make sculptures, make household items, etc. A 3D printer makes 3D plastic objects and there are so many things you can do with that that listing them will be a never ending process. That's a beautiful second print. I can't get that quality until a week of retuning and configuring.by MrDoctorDIV - General
Typically from a heated bed that's too hot. Any higher than 65C is bad for PLA.by MrDoctorDIV - Printing
Cleeeaaaann. That's almost sexy it's so clean. I like it, I like it very much. Thanks for the enlightenment. Makes me question what I've been doing this entire time.by MrDoctorDIV - General
I've never used them, so I can't say anything for sure. I just don't like the idea of something that can be pulled with enough weight, in my simple mind that removes the point of reinforcing the belt since it will have a stretch factor to it with the spring. I always have moveable parts to tighten belts. Like have a motor on a moveable mount, or the idler pulleys, or the belt attached to a screwby MrDoctorDIV - Mechanics
What's the currency? A simple Google search shows far less than $110. Makes sense. Modifying firmware is simple enough for me with Repetier's online config tool, but I might like Smoothie's way better. It's definitely on my list of boards for my build.by MrDoctorDIV - General

How would you guys compare the Azteeg to the Minitronics? Mini is cheaper, but has more outputs, so I'm obviously missing something as to why Azteeg is more popular.by MrDoctorDIV - General
Got my CF vinyl DI-NOC today, hour of recalibrating my bed level and height and it prints without heat quite well. I might do heat just to get some extra tack, the starts and sharp corners don't like the new surface, but everything else works well without heat. Makes my printer look better too.by MrDoctorDIV - Delta Machines
People have printed on Carbon Fiber before and I'm sure still do. That's just one example, I've seen a few over the past year.by MrDoctorDIV - Delta Machines
As a matter of physics, no nonsolid object will remain perfectly straight with gravity at play. It's a matter of negligibility. I have steel reinforced GT2, 6mm but I haven't used it yet. At that distance, and for a CNC, so long as your structure and linear motion system are solid and sturdy enough, you should be fine. I hope your belt tensioner isn't spring loaded, those will allow your belt toby MrDoctorDIV - Mechanics
Make sure your endstops are configured correctly in your firmware. My brain isn't working enough to detail how right now. Make sure that they are properly classified as home on ground or home on open and that their directions and positions are set correctly.by MrDoctorDIV - Reprappers
Each manufacturer and hotend is different. Placement of heater, thermistor, extrusion point, and the materials used all make a difference hotend by hotend. On my Solidoodle hotend I printed perfect PLA at 162C, on my E3D v5 I print PLA at 235C, or if I'm using my pro filament I print at 245C. I'll be amazed the day all hotends extrude the same at the same temps, very truly amazed. You don't evenby MrDoctorDIV - Printing
Just a guess, you're using Slic3r. Step one: ditch Slic3r. Infamous for having undersized inner circles. Step two: get familiar with better slicers like KISSlicer, Cura, Simplify3D , etc.by MrDoctorDIV - Printing
More details about your setup would help. Printing PLA and ABS are two very different world, for about a year I was exclusively PLA, only recently adding ABS, ABS/PA alloy, and Nylon according to customer needs. I had to relearn how to print things, and I'm probably only half way there with getting effective adhesion. They print clean, clean, clean. I love how clean ABS prints, especially from 3Dby MrDoctorDIV - Printing
Somebody has already tried that, might find inspiration from him.by MrDoctorDIV - Mendel90
Same as Mr T. I've got a properly calibrated printer, and unless I uncalibrate it, re-homing will never cross my mind. I haven't had the issue in my 1+ measly year of 3D printing. I don't see why an advanced, costly system would be needed when you can just get your numbers right in the first place.by MrDoctorDIV - Mechanics
RepRap forums seems to have a high, high hit rate for Google searches, I've noticed. I've come back to a lot of my posts seeking answers further after asking here. Also, this is a changeable database, times and information can be changed. There would be no proof of prior art as there would be no proof that it is in original form. At least, that's what my ignorant self thinks. I haven't heard of aby MrDoctorDIV - General
Highly inaccurate statement. I'd be trouble to find anyone here who feels you let them down. You've done good work, you're still doing good work, and I'm pretty sure you're going to continue to do so. Good work doesn't mean no problems, it is rare that a plan goes without shortfall or change in how a goal is achieved. It's not your fault, and I, for one of many, do not blame you or feel let down.by MrDoctorDIV - General
I'll definitely look into that option, thanks.by MrDoctorDIV - Delta Machines
What material? That's what's going to give your answers, ABS and PLA behave differently and have different fixes. PLA; it may be too hot, and if the bed is too hot it will cause problems, typically on the first layer, sometimes after the first layer. Make sure you have your extrusion width set correctly, hopefully you already have your nozzle width set. As far as my limited experience goes, thby MrDoctorDIV - Printing
Quotewaitaki I am rather suspicious of the feedback... Yeah, real reviewers, as far as I've seen, don't use phrases like "just as described" or "100% corresponds." Sure, maybe one or two, here and there. Not all reviews though. It is quite dirt cheap, that by itself makes me suspicious of anything dealing with 3D printers. Simply based on what I've seen, not what I've experienced , don't buy it.by MrDoctorDIV - Reprappers
