I've already got some spares printed, but I was wondering when I should change them out...by dan11 - General
Anyone have experience with the 3mm E3D bowden hotend? I see lots of people saying good things about it, but they're all 1.75mm filament. I've got all this 3mm filament laying around and I'm building a Delta style printer.by dan11 - General
Do you have a caliper to measure the filament size? Looks like 1.75mm filament going into a 3mm Jhead.by dan11 - General
Quotekarabas Just plain glass heated up to 110-130C and painted with beer. I can think of one or two other better uses for beer.by dan11 - Printing
I print 3mm ABS from Makerfarm onto Kapton tape that's been thoroughly cleaned with pure acetone. My bed temp shows 115, but I just turned it up until parts started to stick. As long as your z height is set correctly (I do the paper test) my prints stick like glue and pop off perfectly when the glass cools. It makes a cracking/popping sound when it cools and releases. I have the 8" i3, and after having it for about 7 months I can definitely say that I like it, but I'm not about to start raving about it. What I like about it: 1. It's a nearly complete kit for the cost. You only have to provide glass and a power supply and filament. I had a dead desktop computer with a working power supply, so I salvaged that. Glass I picked up from Lowes. I brought along my hby dan11 - General
Thanks!!! I'm going to put in my order later this week.by dan11 - General
Quotegman Hey. I've got a makerfarm i3 also! I used my i3 to build a rostock delta printer. It has the same size heatbed as the markerfarm also. 3mm filament would work but 1.75 is more popular for bowden extruders. Where did you source the design? I've been looking, but I can't seem to figure out the proportions that I need to hit, i.e. how long do the arms have to be to reach the whole 8" x 8"by dan11 - General
Try increasing your nozzle temperature. I print ABS at 225 C.by dan11 - Printing
So after attending the Midwest RepRap Festival ( I was the dude with the Makerfarm i3!), I was inspired to build a new printer. After seeing all the sweet Delta-style printers I think that's what I want to build. Then I saw the Misumi deal....so my idea is this: I would like to build this new printer, but using some of the parts from my current Makerfarm printer, namely, the headed bed. I had this same question about a month ago. Getting a brand new, high-end computer is really not necessary. You could probably get by on something really inexpensive (~$200 or less).by dan11 - General
So I've been running a different version of Marlin than what came with my printer (Makerfarm 8" i3) so that I could use the bed auto leveling features. I've run into a strange problem: When I run a G28 the X/Y axes will home (sort of), but then instead of moving to the middle of the bed to home the Z axis, the servo arm deploys in the corner of the bed and proceeds to crash since the microswitcby dan11 - Firmware - mainstream and related support
This thread made me go find my wife and give her a hug. Both of our thoughts go out to you. Sorry for your loss.by dan11 - General
There's a setting to disable the servo during moves in configuration.h. Mine doesn't twitch anymore. You could also isolate your steppers with a ferrite core....they're pretty cheap on Amazon.by dan11 - Reprappers
I just put a new JHead MKV from hotends.com on my Makerfarm 8" i3. It works great, just make sure you get the right groove mount for it if you decide to get an MK V from hotends.com. The Makerfarm Jhead is an MK IV, whereas the Jhead coming from hotends.com is an MK V. The MK IV groovemount isn't compatible with an MK V Jhead. The correct groovemount is available from makerfarm for $7, so just maby dan11 - General
I ran into this exact problem as well. There's an "OK" button that you need to hit in the debug options section to actually send the commands. My "OK" button was buried and I needed to expand the pane to the left to be able to see it. I think it's related to Repetier's "Ping-Pong Communication" under Printer Settings. For some reason, leaving this box unchecked (I'm using Windows 7) isn't enouby dan11 - Repetier
So I've recently decided to build a new PC . My budget maximum is ~$900 for everything, but I'd obviously like to save as much as I can. I would like to maximize my slicing performance for 3D printing. I play some games, but not often. I'm going to start with one monitor and eventually scale that up to 2 or 3 monitors, but this is several months away. Right now I'm using Slic3r that's built intoby dan11 - General
