Yeah thats not working either. .csg is also not in the list of extensions in the import window. I'll try asking in the freecad forums.by gr0k - General
I'm not seeing any OpenSCAD under Tool, Parameters, Preferences, Mod. I just downloaded version 0.13 for OSX which is listed under Unstable on sourceforge... I'm wondering if this isn't in that version?by gr0k - General
All the Replicator files have been released:by gr0k - General
With a little python scripting, you can also automate Blender to render STL files to images from the command line.by gr0k - General

Yeah it's all at Specifically: Video of gears turning:by gr0k - General
Yeah, all the PVA dissolved and the internal gears turn.by gr0k - General
I have, and it works fairly well with PLA Check out:by gr0k - General
Thingiview is for the in-browser webgl preview. Thingiverse currently uses stl2pov for the static image files: You should be able to use that to convert all your stls to images.by gr0k - General
This is cool, but I think the differentiation between commercial and OSHW is a little fuzzy. A MakerBot is comercial, but it's also OpenSource. UP! isn't open source, but it is working, which would give it the same icon as a MakerBot, which wouldn't be right. Maybe a green circle around the open projects and a red circle around the non-open projects? Then you could just use the fill color insby gr0k - General
Yeah, this book is really targeted at absolute beginners with some basic wood working tools. Explaining how to use a lathe to machine the latest extruder design or how to etch the latest circuit boards would be kinda hard and probably obsolete as soon as it was published.by gr0k - General
It is a plywood repstrap that is pretty easy to make (considering I managed to make one) and the plans will be creative commons so I've begun documenting what I can here: One of the neat thing is that it should be structurally sound enough and uses NEMA 23 steppers to do light CNC milling and has attachments to mount a dremel. Yes it is just a cartesian bot, but there's nothing stopping you frby gr0k - General
This sounds interesting! Do you have a link with more info on how you electroplated printed parts? I posted the skeinforge settings I've been using for my Mendel with RAMPS, PLA, and a 0.4 mm nozzle to github here: It's not perfect, but it should be a good start. Here's some of the results:by gr0k - Skeinforge
I would suggest getting this precompiled binary: If it crashed when you connect, try running it from the command line (I have to do this and no idea why) with this command: /Applications/RepSnapper.app/Contents/MacOS/repsnapper I was able to compile it from source, but it was a pain and didn't work quite right. That pre-compiled version works well enough for me.by gr0k - RepSnapper
rhmorrison Wrote: > 1 - Quality - possibly a little worse than the > normal Mendel. > 2 - Definition Printing - possibly a little worse > than the normal Mendel. This is probably true, but does anyone have any empirical evidence of this? Prusa seems to be getting good quality prints. I guess I'll know soon enough as I plan on building a prusa mendel and comparing prints from my regby gr0k - General
I mainly use a really old MacBookPro running OSX 10.6.4 and really don't have any problems getting it to talk to the printer. Just make sure you have the most recent ftdi driver from: Yeah I have the same display bugs with skeinforge. Often when I change to a different tool, I have to resize the window in order to get it to render all of the form. I don't know if that is a bug specific to osby gr0k - General
Back on topic - I use a Mac just fine. ReplicatorG works, RepSnapper works*. RepRap Host works, but has some glitches with button sizes in the UI on OSX. It also has some other quirks that I'm not sure are specific to running on OSX or not - for instance, I always have to quit and restart reprap host after generating gcode or else it tends to lockup - quitting also cleans up all those temp filby gr0k - General
It's possible you might need to adjust the potentiometers on the pololu boards to give them more power or you have the wires in the wrong order. Can you hear or feel the steppers getting power at all? When they're powered (at least mine) they make a really faint whine sound. You might want to try the regular RepRap 5D firmware and host because it tends to charge up the steppers constantly whicby gr0k - RAMPS Electronics
What would you like to know? Are you able to connect at all? Read temperature? I'm using this version of RepSnapper on OSX and connecting at 115200 baud.by gr0k - RAMPS Electronics
I'm having pretty good success using this tonokip firmware that has the RAMPS pre-configured which requires RepSnapper to talk to. I'm using skeinforge to make the gcode and using RepSnapper just to send it to the printer. However, I'm hoping that ReplicatorG will finish support for the regular RepRap 5D firmware soon.by gr0k - RAMPS Electronics
I had something very similar to this backlash that I think I finally fixed when I tightened the grub screw on the shaft of the motor pulley.by gr0k - General
I'm not sure a magnetic connection would hold up. However with that horizontal adapter plate I designed, you can still get to the screw without taking the large gear off if you flip the small gear around and mount the gears close to the side (using maybe one washer between the large gear and the bearing). The main reason I had to recess that bolt was to make it more flexible with the distance bby gr0k - General Mendel Topics
I and a few others are trying to start a hackerspace in the Reading / Berks County PA area called The Berks CoLab Two of us have MakerBots, I have a Mendel, and we're working on building a Mendel for the group. One of the things I'd like to do is have a regular 3D Printing meetup, so if there's anyone else in the southeast PA area that would like to form a RepRap User Group, let me know!by gr0k - Pennsylvania RepRap User Group
I thought the same thing when I saw it. I think it has a 1cm resolution, so you couldn't get that great of detail, but could be interesting for scanning really big things.by gr0k - General
I had googled this and one of the things I was thinking about was this spray on, household oven cured, teflon coating that is made for guns:by gr0k - Reprappers
Try to get the raftless skeinforge plugin which slows down the first layer to make it stick easier.by gr0k - Reprappers
Pretty much requires printing raftless and you'll need a heated build platform if you're using ABS. I was able to get it to print using PLA on an unheated acrylic platform.by gr0k - Reprappers
I am able to print x-carriage-lower.par on my makerbot. I print it horizontally lengthwise on the X axis. It just barely fits.by gr0k - Reprappers
