The odd thing is that it wasn't anything to do with reversing the motor direction. All that had already been tried , in multiple combinations. There was no problem with controlling Z in the right direction, only when using G34 was it working wrongly. I literally just swapped the entire wiring, in exactly the same wiring order, from Z1 to Z2 (and Z2 to Z1) on the board. Bizarre, but it workby ss002d6252 - Firmware - Marlin
For reference managed to sort it. I swapped the two motors over on the board - just switched the Z1 wiring to Z2 and Z2 wiring to Z1, and for some unknown reason that works . Not sure at all why, but it worked. Must be something in the code.by ss002d6252 - Firmware - Marlin
QuoteNikki81 I had a similar problem I had entered the axis coordinates wrongly in Configuration_adv.h Thanks. I'll take a closer look at that and see what if I can spot something.by ss002d6252 - Firmware - Marlin
I have a strange issue where the G34 command causes the dual Z steppers to diverge rather than converge whilst running. The Z motors work absolutely spot on but I can't figure out why G34 seems content to move the steppers apart rather than converge the measurements in order to level the axis. I've tried flipping motors around. Flashed Marlin to a different version etc but I still can't figby ss002d6252 - Firmware - Marlin
This morning my power supply (stock psu with an A8) died. I connected up a PSU from a pc and I get 12v on both inputs at the RAMPS 1.4. The board fans work, the extruder heats and the bed heats but I get no motor movement at all - I have disconnected all except the Z motors and tried a spare stepper driver but I'm not getting any movement at all. It was the maximum x-y jerk settings, sorted them and it#s working. Quotenebbian Check to see that you haven't set the speed multiplier on your LCD panel to be less than 100%. I've done that before Easy done although I don't have my LCD attached at the moment - just using my laptop for now. Craigby ss002d6252 - General
Thanks Guys - It was working fine but I've been fiddling on getting the probe working so I've screwed something somewhere. The Steps/mm were all spot on so it shouldn't be that but I'll double check. I don't think it's the USB as I was printing fine and at good speed before I was working on it earlier today. This is what it's doing - - the same speed issue is occurring with any file I now prby ss002d6252 - General
I have A8 running marlin on a ramps 1.4. Printing is done via Repetier Host. For some reason the speed of the printer when printing has suddenly bottomed out and is now extremely slow in comparison - I'm sure I've probably changed something by mistake but I'm not sure what !. Any ideas what it could be ? I'm trying to post a link to a video to show what it's doing. Craigby ss002d6252 - General

Thanks - I can set a positive value in the firmware but a negative value is not having any effect. Finally managed to get it to play along by leaving the firmware value at 0 and using the setting in slicer. The final value still bares no resemblance (don't know why) to that calculated via the G92 but at at least it seems to be working. Craigby ss002d6252 - Printing
I have an 8mm inductive probe running on an A8 with Ramps 1.4 and Marlin. I have the G28 and G29 running fine - probe will stop the head moving when it's triggered etc etc however what I can't get it to do is to apply a Z offset to account for the remaining gap between the nozzle and the bed. Can anyone post the GCode needed to probe and correct via Repetier Host ? I have tried a few things witby ss002d6252 - Printing
Quotethe_digital_dentist Turn down the acceleration/jerk settings or slow down the print speed. Thanks - that appears to have sorted the issue. Just need to fine tune it now but the spaghetti monster is no longer present. Craigby ss002d6252 - General
If you look carefully at the picture you can see where the layers have suddenly shifted by about 10mm to the side. Craigby ss002d6252 - General
The print adhered to the bed fine, that's what was throwing me. I've tried a couple of prints and it's happening at the same sort of point in each (i.e roughly the same height). The axis all seem to be moving fine - nothing obvious that I can see. Some vibration when I use infill but I doubt that's the issue as the same spaghetti issue occurs with hollowed items (printed fan nozzle etc) with mby ss002d6252 - General
I have calibrated all of the axis and they're spot on measurement wise, as is the extrusion. When I print however it's getting half way through the print and just printing spaghetti (picture attached) Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing it ? Any help appreciated. I have a i3 (RAMPS 1.4 + Marlin) that is causing me issues. When I manually control the Z axis from Repetier it's moving absolutely fine however as soon as I attempt to home the Z axis from Repetier the motors just whir and grind without actually moving. I've checked all of the endstops and they operate fine. Any ideas ? Thank in advance Craigby ss002d6252 - General

For reference. I've managed to solve it... I connected only by USB (without the PSU on) and double checked the settings in Repetier. The connection port had reset to Auto, I changed it back to COM5 and it's now heating when I try it. I had tried COM5 earlier but with the PSU powered on and it didn't work so why just using the USB allowed me to connect and overcome the error I don't know.by ss002d6252 - Reprappers
Yesterday I had a problem with the wire coming off my heatbead - I re-soldered the wire back on and re-attached my bed to the printer. I didn't print anything but the bed was heating when tested in Repetier and the various axis were moving. Today however Repetier / Pronterface etc are falling over on the basis that the 'extruder is switched off'. It looks like an extruder test is the first checkby ss002d6252 - Reprappers
Quotehoxsiew Quotess002d6252 Thanks guys Hmm , it appears to be an extrusion issue. No matter what esteps value I change to (via marlin - and checked with pronterface & repetier to make sure it is updating) the extruder pushes though around 180mm for every 100mm it's asked to. It was an ANET board before hand so no need for me to add the stepper motors etc. I think I'll re-flash the Marlin firmware and re-seat the motors again and see if that makes a difference. I've got some new motors on order to try and swap them out.by ss002d6252 - General Mendel Topics

I have a RAMPS 1.4 board (Marlin) on an ANET - the board burnt out so I changed it. Before it burnt out the print quality was great, now I've swapped to the RAMPS 1.4 I just can't get a decent print. The attached image is a calibration square that I used to check how it was printing. I have a problem with my Z axis (prusa with RAMPS 1.4, Marlin). When I print the first layer seems to be Ok - after that however the Z axis seems to increase in steps that are too large to correctly lay down the next layer so it ends up looking like I've printed a shredded wheat rather than a cube (I've also tried other files and ended up the same).
