Hi, does this feature usually work? I have the latest version on Windows, a RAMPS 1.3 board, it can see the files on the SD card already, mount and dismount seem to work, but uploading doesn't. It does one of two things for me: 1) Nothing at all. 2) Starts processing the file being uploaded as if it was being printed. In fact if I let it finish it would print the object via USB instead of storinby UkIan - Repetier
Quotepolyglot I like the Pb-5Sn eutectic as thermal fuse idea Until you get that tested, don't forget that there are bimetallic strips (with NC contacts rated for mains power, designed to be bang-bang thermostats) that can operate at higher temperatures than polymer thermal fuses. 250C seems readily available on eBay for <$5 and would work well to open a latched relay; I have a couple on theby UkIan - Safety & Best Practices
Yes, that was to be my cunning plan. I've finally printed a new carriage and hot end holder, and wired up the extruder that will drive everything, so I'm pretty much good to goby UkIan - General
Fair enough, I'll give it a go and just try and seat it deeply. I discovered you could put a thread on ptfe tube, which opens up some interesting possibilities if that doesn't work. I can't remember where I saw that... RepRapPro blog converting omerod to dual extruder I think.by UkIan - General
Just converting an E3D v6 all metal to work with bowden. I've popped in the push fit cap you get, I assume you run the ptfe tube all the way down to the heat break? The cap works by gripping the tube, and won't let it out unless you hold the cap in while withdrawing the tube. This means under normal operation there is about 2-3mm of play where the ptfe can move up and down. Is that normal? Seemby UkIan - General
Yes, depending on what you slice with, and your printer, holes are smaller than expected for most people. All my openscad code has wiggle variables which expand holes by a bit. Your machine and slicer combo are working too well!by UkIan - General Mendel Topics
QuoteCraigRK Correct. Perhaps we should think about it like this: For each printer the hot end temp should increase in some ratio according to the amount of time max power is applied Could we track the power applied (time power was on) say over the last 5 minutes Track whether temp is decreasing significantly in the same time Correlate the 2. If we are applying power, then temp should be goingby UkIan - Safety & Best Practices
Probably sensible. I wanted a 5mm thread one as that will screw into the Bulldog extruder, but actually, I have enough for the bulldog end, so the other ends don't matter. I've redesigned my hotend holder to have a screw fit for what ever size I eventually get. Although not all my hot ends actually need it.by UkIan - General
SourcingMap again, they're great, but in China, so you have to wait four weeks, up to six weeks at the moment thanks to shipping :/by UkIan - General
Hi, what did you render your machine image with? Cheers ianby UkIan - Tantillus
I keep hearing about RobotDigg. Makes me think of AdultSwim for some reason. I will investigateby UkIan - General
My current plan is to have dibond at the bottom, a 10mm sheet of cork, heated bed, glass on top. If I bolt all those together it should be pretty rigid I think. I'm going to experiment cutting holes out of the dibond so it isn't a continuous sheet, so it more resembles the y carriage chassis you see on an i3. I figured if heat made it through the cork and under-bed temperature was really a proby UkIan - General
That's my current goal. I'm trying to lighten the y carriage generally.by UkIan - General
Cor I haven't used irc in over a decade! Might poke my head inby UkIan - General
I'm planning a cabinet for printer v2. It's going to be a fairly sturdy cube so I can store things on top, but I did have an eye to abs when I was thinking about it. I'll experiment dropping to 80 tonight. I had no time yesterday.by UkIan - General
Anyone know where I can buy some Bowden push fittings in the UK? Or Europe, somewhere that can ship in days rather than weeks. Specifically, 5mm thread taking 4mm od ptfe. Thanksby UkIan - General
The bulb idea is quite neat, I might think about that. Clever idea.by UkIan - General
Quotecdru A jigsaw won't leave a very good edge. It had a tendency to tear the edge rather than cut it. A table saw left a fine edge for the straight cuts, as did a router. A bandsaw also likely would be more like the table saw rather than the jigsaw. Waterjet or laser cutting it are options, but most people don't have those types of machines lying around. I am a member of the Lasersaur commuby UkIan - General
I think you're preaching to the converted now. I've just received my a3 sized dibond sheets I bought to have a play with. It's different to what I was expecting, I was expecting a corregated filler, or something like a model airoplane wing which is uber solid until you poke a little hole in it. It feels quite nice I have to say, although heavier than I expected. B&Q near me do cutting, so I'by UkIan - Mendel90
Pla is really well behaved, but i need abs for some parts at the moment so I'm printing with it for the first time. It's going really well, I get fantastic prints, but I do leave the bed on. I might experiment tomorrow, I just hate wasting my currently limited print time :/by UkIan - General
I'm currently keeping the heated bed on for the duration of the print. I've read you can turn it off, or turn it down after the first few layers. Does anyone have practical experience of this? Any tips? Thanks Ianby UkIan - General
The Mendel90 is fast becoming my favourite design so far, I will crib from that bed and see what happensby UkIan - General
I've ordered a few A3 size sheets to have a play with. Nophead uses it on the thin Mendel 90. My questions are: Can you cut shapes out of it with a Jigsaw? And is it still rigid? Is that the best way to shape it? Is it very sensitive to temperature? (I'm thinking of a new y carriage here, so under a heated bed). Thanks Ianby UkIan - General
The doctor was on to something, although it wasn't over powered, the stepper driver was actually faulty. For anyone else; It was driving the stepper around in sharp steps rather than smooth motion. Last night it stopped extruding altogether, it would if I pushed on the filament, so I thought it was clogged. Checked the voltage, was just about to strip out the hot end when I thought I'd try a newby UkIan - Printing

So what's inside this thing? I saw OozNest are selling them, the bits at either end are printed, it's just what ever is in the middle that's mystical.by UkIan - General
I've just tried that and shock horror it does actually work I've got the full graphics adapter and had a look through the menus on their for the first time today. Seriously I've never actually fiddled with it. I did keep Repetier connected to the machine though and used that to send temperature change commands, just to see if it would (It does).by UkIan - Repetier
