Is it a plywood prusa? You can not adjust position of the idler? I would suggest making a simple bracket to move idler to the side.by Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
BTW, I have a part printed by UP!mini printer (using their stock software i suppose) and it has a gap between walls. And I have printed same part using kisslicer for multiple times and it always makes solid walls. Layer height or thickness does not matter.by Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
Quoteuncle_bob I've tried Slic3r, Cura and Kiss. They all have a similar issue with thin features. I use kisslicer 1.1.0.14 and it fills up even smallest hardly visible gaps between lines. Yes, that can be a problem sometimes because it over extrudes BUT it never leaves a gap between lines... Thats my exprience with this exact version of kisslicer.by Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
I think that gluing broken part with acetone should be no problem if you need to print that part. However having a spare set of gears or other parts that are under friction is a good idea.by Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
Just go to different slicer... Cura or Kisslicer. Kisslicer does a great job on making lines overlap.by Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
Prusa i3 with aluminium single plate frame. A really great printer. Unlike wooden frame I can lift my i3 without need for recalibration of bed. Already printed more than 40 hours without a single problem.by Edvardas - General
I bet you did not press hard enough to brake bearings or bend rods if printer was printing and X was moving. I would suggest untightening X axis and extruder mounting and tightening everything back together afterwards.by Edvardas - General
Best is not to collect spools of material I have red in one of the companies that sell filament webpage that good idea is to put spools inside a plastic container and store a bucket full of rise next to it. That should collect moisture.by Edvardas - General
Up. It does not exist anymore? Pause is more like "end printing" from my experience...by Edvardas - General
Astrosyn had dampers out of stock for a last couple of weeks and I was going to make a copy of their dampers. Have piece of rigid 4mm thick rubber and was going to print a copy of those metal brackets with ABS. However, this morning I printed these and it lovered sound by about 90%. Now fan on power supply is louder than a printer. I must say that printers should have these incorporated into desby Edvardas - General
Had something similar. Can not remember solution, but trying different slicer should fix it. Try cura, slic3r or kisslicer.by Edvardas - General
Ramps has place for a second extruder. But... Is it possible to use three extruders on prusa i3? How do they all fit on X axis rods? Looks to me that X axis travel would be a lot shorter. I guess that distant extruders with teflon tubes would be a must in this configuration. Btw. I also missed feature from cura where you can rotate your part anyhow you want on the bed. On kisslicer that is not pby Edvardas - General
You can try different slicers. I found Cura to be a lot better than slic3r. But cura just like slic3r was not precise in calculating material flow. I print parts that fit together and that was not possible to do. After a lot of messing (a couple hundreds grams of plastic ruined) with flow compensation and even changing models dimensions in cad software I had to give up on Cura. Other than that iby Edvardas - General
I run gregs wade extruder on my alu plate i3. It does turn really fast when retracting material on slic3r. So gears turn opposite direction compared to extruding. Is that what you experience? There should be retracting speed setting in slic3r. Also make sure that your gears are alligned. I had to put an extra washer under big gear to get that. And put some oil between those gears. Make sure youby Edvardas - General
Motors are nema 17 and they are set at 0.4V +/- 0.01V. They get really hot but I can rest my hand on them so that is okey I guess? I am not into making a printer completely silent actually. I just want to drop sound so it would not disturb me.by Edvardas - General
I want to build a box for my prusa i3. Goal is to make printing more silent. Want to make it from wood. Will probably use one plate on the botom and then easily removable shell on the outside for ease of maintenance and bed calibrating. I am figuring which parts to leave inside. Wont motors overheat while being in a box? They get pretty hot already. Should I put arduino/ramps outside? Where woulby Edvardas - General
About holes design.. According to instructions there was one way to put arduino/ramps board on the board- with usb cable going downwards. However this design does not allow to put on sdramps for standalone printing. Seems that card and card reader would be hit by X axis motor. How to go around this? Put arduino board upside down?by Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
or you can just reverse a motor plug on RAMPS board.by Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
Cura has function to revolve part. And actually printed the same part almost twise as fast as slic3r and at a better quality (settings were almost the same, difference was that slic3r was making 3 outside layers instead of 2 on Cura. And layers on slic3r were somewhat squashed. BTW, slic3r version was earlier than this mentioned in a title) Thats on i3.by Edvardas - General
I suppose it is a slic3r and the way it generates a g-code. I just started printing with my i3 yesterday. First print was on slic3r. Part was tube like, going along Z axis, 115mm high. Tooks 4hours and 10 minutes. Today I tried the same part with Cura. Pretty much the same settings- speed, layer, etc... Took 2 hours and 15 minutes. Just half the time. And made it in better quality. Slic3r was noby Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
Seriuosly? Slic3r does not have this option?by Edvardas - General
I have quick queastion about slic3r. How do you change part position relative to the printing bed? Slic3r imported STL and part will be printed in Z direction. I want to put this part on the side so that its ealier Z position comes along Y axis.by Edvardas - General
How loud are your 12v 30a power supplies? I have bought my from ebay seller in Germany. It is a no name chinese made item. Its fan makes a lot of sound, and spins almost all the time. I have read that compared to pc ATX power supplies these are supposed to be a lot more silent. Well it is not. How is yours? And I run stock prusa i3 so power consumption is not crazy.by Edvardas - General
Do you have aluminium plate or wood box prusa? How did you join your printer to the table?by Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
Makes sense now. X axis is not that rigid. Thanks. Have another question. I am trying to look for a cabinet/case/box design for prusa i3, but found very few designs. I will be printing in a living room so do not want all that smell of ABS. Anyone can lead me to a design that is made from easy to work with materials (mdf or something similar)?by Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
Ricardo, but Z axis motors are not doing all that much work, no? They are turning just a little bit every time new layer needs to be done.by Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
Oh, and have a second one.. Would it be smart to add a second nut to every existing nut on Y axis threaded rods? Those nuts are putting preload against pretty weak printed parts. I guess there is not that much preload at all. So do those nuts get loose with time? A second nut would lock those nuts.by Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
Hi everyone, I am waiting for my alu plate Prusa i3 to come by mail from charles3d from Belgium. Will be my first printer. Meanwhile I am checking assembly manuals, software and design. And have one question. I can not understand why Z axis has two motors. It seems that a whole assembly of extruder travels on those two Z rods where it is connected by bearings to them. Looks like one motor on oneby Edvardas - General Mendel Topics
