Check the speed too, if it's too fast the steppers can't step fast enough.by chngyian - Reprappers
I think you have to check your gcode, probably it isn't printing the whole perimeter.by chngyian - Printing
Quoteshah123 Quotebytemedwb So I do a Workshop around building and assembling the Prusa I3 from Makerfarm. We have done over 20 of these printers in this workshop. The only issues encountered were a couple of missing parts and a couple of parts that broke in shipping which Colin replaced very quickly. In the work shop we take from 16-24 hours to go through the introduction, build, and calibrationby chngyian - General Mendel Topics

Quotegreenman100 Quotechngyian So now pla extrudes smoothly? Curious about how polishing a surface can improve the performance of pla extrusion. Would be good if somebody can shed some light. Coefficient of friction. is this the reason why j heads with pfte liner extrude PLA smoother?by chngyian - General

Got a set of the highly praised e3d hotend last December, and all my emails were promptly replied by Sanjay. Have a little patience. =)by chngyian - Reprappers
If I'm not wrong, this can be defined at the slicer. I'm using kisslicer and there is an option to define the retraction rate.by chngyian - Reprappers
I used to get random skippings, which screw up big prints pretty badly. But I managed to get rid of them by turning up the trimpot of the pololus by 1/8 turn.by chngyian - Mendel90
try contacting the sellers on emakershop, they might be able to do something.by chngyian - Reprappers
just a curious question, what happens if an open sourced cad model designed by me is uploaded onto this website by somebody else?by chngyian - Object repositories
I don't work for e3d or anything. But I'm getting really good quality prints on e3d, the short thermal transition length really makes extrusion control just accurate.by chngyian - General
Quoteaknapp Go for a kit. Best place to start if you have no clue what you are looking for. I purchased the 8" prusa i3 from makerfarm. It has relatively good build instruction videos on youtube. Good luck. Yup, this would be a good way. I started with a kit too and from there you can learn about the individual parts. Just make sure you get a quality kit, it would be a big problem if you start wby chngyian - Reprappers
Usually, I would manually turn the steppers step by step (with everything off) and check if each step translates a movement to the belt. If it doesn't, then it should be tightened. If you're lazy, you could print some belt tensioner from thingiverse. I have seen some peeps using them.by chngyian - Reprappers
Not too sure about Solidworks, but I have seen a few OpenSCAD versions out there. Somewhere that it can be converted to Solidoworks format by opening and exporting with some program, can be quite a hassle if there are too many parts. Anyway, there are quite a few variants of i3 out there so make sure you find the correct one.by chngyian - Reprappers
Anybody has any experience with a lower wattage industrial power supply? Mine is 12v 12a and the bed can't get to the temperature, usually I have to put a thin stack of paper on top of the bed just so it reaches ~110c. Will editing the configuration.h help?by chngyian - General
I reailsed that too, but have no idea what's the reason. A wild guess would be that pronterface simply takes the remaining steps divided by the time taken for the last step to estimate the remaining time. Because it processes the information line by line, it's not able to foresee what's ahead, and there are lots of paths with varying speed. Hence, the difference. Again, this is just my wild guessby chngyian - Reprappers
How did the printer stop? Did the motors stop during a print with the heaters turned off?by chngyian - Developers

Looks pretty neat! Is that a replica of ultimaker or did you make any changes?by chngyian - General
You need to calibrate your motors. This works by tell the system how much it has moved after telling it to move, sort of like a manual feedback control. Here is a very good video teaching calibration done by engineglue: Btw, how is the print quality? It should be pretty bad if the print it scaled up twice. If not it might be an issue with the slicer.by chngyian - General
If you are getting a PSU just for your 3d printer, I guess you can consider a proper industrial power supply. I've been reading quite a few problems caused by CPU PSU being unable to supply enough power. Maybe something like that: Power Supply ~360w seems to be a popular choice and this comes with a fan. I'm running a 12v 12a LED power supply and it gets so hot that I have to put a 120mm fan inby chngyian - Mendel90
I've had that problem when I used a USB cable that was loose. Somehow, prints would always stop halfway. You have any spare cables around that you can try?by chngyian - Developers
Looks cool. If you could, do a test for ABS printing ABS. That should be fun!by chngyian - Ormerod
